Cherokee Valley Course and Club
Played On 09/09/2017Very nice Track but needs better pace of play
This course was in solid condition and the greens were quick and held a good shot. The greens are smaller which I like so your accuracy is tested. Tee to green a challengeing layout. The staff was very friendly but you only saw them around the clubhouse. No starter at the first tee on a Saturday morning which was confusing to all and did not see a player assistant on the course to maintain pace of play. Over all I like the course and would go back but they need to address the pace of play.
Bowes Creek Country Club
Played On 08/13/2016Great layout and green compexes
Bowes creek is just fun to play, The layout can be as challenging as you want to make it with 5 sets of tees. The bunkering reminds me of Scotland with many smaller bunkers instead of one large number. Lots of visual challenges with water and highly grown natural wet lands but not overly done. The green complexes are very challenging with undulations, green within green pin positions, and the put quickly even on the day I was there which was the morning after significant rain the day before. In fact the entire course handled the drainage very well. The staff a service is at a quality country club level. A must play!
Bolingbrook Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2015Country club service and pace of play at a public course
This is a top five public course in the Chicago Area. The course and service are always top notch. I understand they get a bad rating sometimes by reviewers for value but you cannot compare the course and service level to the $50 a round courses in the area. This course should only be compared to the other top facilities in the area and I can tell you at the higher level the value at Bolingbrook has always been top notch. That includes having 10 minute tee times which gives you the pace of play everyone wants. The $50 course push you out as fast as possible and never manage pace of play.
The Links at Carillon - Red/White
Played On 06/27/2015Very nice Facility but has Pace of play issue
I have played this course over the years and it has always been in great shape and fun to play but the pace of play is an issue. They pump one group out after another as soon as the fairway clears on the first hole. This course would do themselves a huge favor by going to 10 min tees times and have the ranger do more then just ride around.
Thanks Mike for playing The Links. Every 10 minutes is a great idea and I would love to do that. Unfortunately the reason almost no courses do that is the loss of thousands and thousands of dollars each month by eliminating tee times per hour thus driving courses out of business. 8 minute tee times has been a standard for years across the country and is proven to be the right amount of gap if all goes well on the course. We take pace very seriously here at The Links and hopefully our rangers were on their way to address any issues. Thank you for your input and we will definitely work harder to make your round here more enjoyable.
