Wendell Country Club
Played On 02/12/2017Good course for the $$
First time playing here, didn't have great expectations. Was pleasantly surprised though. Greens were in good shape, and fast! Fairways were a bit thin in spots( it is winter), but the layout was fun and interesting. Not a long course at 6100 yds from the tips, but plenty enough challenge for a 10 handicapper like me. If you're expecting top notch, private country club conditions, look elsewhere. But if you live near the Wendell area, definitely check it out.
Talamore Golf Resort
Played On 12/26/2016Great greens!
Had not played here since the renovation, and new greens. Before that, reviews had not been good. If you played here before the renovation, you owe it to yourself to come play it again Also they removed 60 sand traps, so play is quicker, and a bit less difficult for the average golfer. Looking forward to playing here again.
Lake at Carolina Trace Country Club
Played On 07/17/2016Carolina Trace, Lake Course
Course was in good shape, and people in the shop were friendly. Those are the most important things. One minor issue was that there was no drinking water available on the course. It was a very hot and humid day. Played the Creek course last week, and water was available there. Like I said, minor issue, but might want to bring some water with you, or buy some in the pro shop. Also no ball washers either. Maybe they are getting some new ones? Will definitely play there again!
Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 11/22/2015Nice course for the price.
Paid $21 for a 12:08 tee time on a cold, windy Sunday. For that price, it would be hard to find a better deal. I probably wouldn't pay more than $35 for this course. Great layout with multiple holes along a lake. It is an early Pete Dye design, and is worth playing just for that. Greens were in good shape. A few of the tee boxes were pretty bare. Fairways were in decent shape also. If you come here not expecting perfect conditions, then it is a great deal at under $25 on a weekend. Not many peole on the day we played, but it is usually very busy, and pace of play can be an issue.
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 11/08/2015A bit rough around the edges.
I have played this course numerous times. The bent grass greens were in good condition, and rolled smoothly. The collars of the greens however, were very rough. Tee boxes, and fairways were in fair to good condition. I love the course layout, and for a Hot Deal, it is worth the drive to get there. But I would not pay full price there. The staff I talked to were friendly. Can't comment of their food, as I only bought beer from them.
Cedarbrook Country Club
Played On 10/25/2015Worth the drive!
Drove 2 hours from Raleigh to play. My friend said it was a nice course, with tricky greens. Played on a Sunday. One 4-some ahead of us that let us play through. Finished in under 4 hours. Nice rolling terrain, with a mix of uphill, and downhill approach shots. Water comes into play on about 4 to 5 holes. Friend had a buffet lunch for $9.99, and said it was very good! I think on Sundays the buffet runs till 3pm. Staff was very friendly, and we will play there again! Also, they over-seeded recently,so will be green all winter.
Southern Pines Golf Club
Played On 10/11/2015Classic Donald Ross
Got a Hot Deal for $39. Great price for a Donald Ross course that is in good condition. Greens were especially good. The clubhouse is a bit dated, and the cart paths could use some work. But you're coming here for the course, and I highly recommend it.
Tot Hill Farm Golf Club
Played On 09/20/2015Tot Hill in great shape
Course was in very good shape. Greens were soft, but still fairly quick. Stay below the hole! Fairways and tee boxes in good shape also. Great layout with no 2 holes the same. Some will call it target golf, but plenty of room off the tee. Get a course guide if it's your first time playing there. Friend had a chicken salad sandwich, and said it was very good. Well worth the drive into the country, for a nice quiet round of golf.
Salem Glen Country Club
Played On 09/13/2015Great day at Salem Glen
First time playing here. Was worried about course conditions due to all the winter kill in the area. No need to worry though, the course was in great shape! My friend and I play a variety of courses throughout the state, and the only course that we've played recently that was in better condition, was Pinehurst #8. We will definitely play here again! Did not get food or beverage, so I can't comment on them. Good deals in the pro shop too. My friend got a logo shirt for $19.
Anderson Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/21/2013Nice layout, good conditions
Nice layout with interesting holes. Houses not too intrusive when playing. Course was in the best condition I've seen it in a few years. A little out of the way to get to, but worth it.
