SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas
Played On 05/11/2023It's been a year or so since I've played there. Course is in excellent shape. The price has jumped up quite a bit, but still somewhat reasonable. Course is still very crowded, so a round is at least 4.5 hours, if you haven't played it before, it's very tight; make sure your aimer is working, especially on the back 9.
Vaaler Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2022Great course, but soggy
Not sure why they are watering so much, especially #17. The front apron is so wet that the grass is dying. The whole course is pretty soft, but the greens are in great shape an roll true.
Salado Del Rio at Fort Sam Houston Golf Course
Played On 09/02/2022Disappointed
It's been a year since I played there. I couldn't believe how bad the course conditions are. Fortunately, the greens were still in good shape but the rest of the course had become a dirt track.

The course was in very nice shape in spite of all the rain they got the day before. The greens were a little slower than I expected, probably due to the rain. Several greens require careful reads as they break a lot more than meets the casual eye, so pay attention!

Played On 03/02/2017Deceptively Tough
Given the short length and initial appearance, I was expecting an easy round. Even if you somehow managed to hit every fairway, scoring can be tough because of all the undulations, mounding and contours on the fairways and greens. Definitely helps to know many of the holes and greens so you don't end up out of position. I would definitely play it again.

Given all the rain, the course was in decent shape. Still soggy fairways in many places so it was cart path only. We planned on that, but not the SLOW foursome in front of us. By the time we got to 10, they were more than a hole behind. By 15, they were probably 3 holes behind and wouldn't invite us, a twosome, to play through. A marshal finally got there on 16. He was great. Check-in was terribly slow. Close to 10 minutes to check in one group in front of us. That left us short on warm-up time. Greens are excellent.
North Shore Golf Course
Played On 08/22/2015Two courses in one
Front 9 and back 9 play quite differently. Front is fairly open, but still has a couple of holes that are particularly challenging. The back is a lot tighter. The mossy oaks are beautiful, but can be formidable obstacles. A great place to play on the day or arrival or departure; only 10-15 minutes from the airport
