This course is always in great shape and is a must play whenever we are in Florida. The layout is challenging and you have to make your shots. The staff is consistently friendly. I only wish I could play it more often.

This is the best place we've played since getting here at the beginning of February! The course was in GREAT SHAPE from tee to green on ALL holes! The starter warned us that they had a group of 48 that might slow our two-some down...nothing could have been further than the truth...they were very quick ahead of us. After a couple of 5+ hour rounds, this was a FANTASTIC PACE...3 hours and 45 minutes! And the price was half what we are paying in the Orlando area! I want to stay here next February!!! Thanks!!!

This course isn't much to look at from the parking lot. We played it quite a few years ago and nothing has changed! Tee boxes, fairways and greens are all in great shape! It was a little wet at the greens, which prevented the ball from rolling up and onto the raised greens. Super value for the money!!!

This course is celebrating it's 100th anniversary. It had an upgrading in 2018. The tees, fairways and greens are all in great shape for the time of year. The greens are difficult due to the subtle undulations...many of which you can't see, even though you think you can. All 4 of us "just missed" many of our second putts. Pace was great and bar cart was around 3 or 4 times.

Tees, fairways and greens are all great for this time of year. Greens are medium-fast with lots of undulations. Friendly staff. All good!

First time playing this course in years. I was glad to hear it was reopen. Price is pretty fair compared to others. Check in was easy. No cart available for 1:20 tee time till almost 1:20...not good. Starter was friendly and warned us that if we didn't keep up the pace of play, the GPS on the cart would let the marshall know and he would give us a talking to! After 9 holes we were 35 minutes behind pace according to the GPS, but no one seemed to give a crap. No marshall anywhere in sight on the course. Cart girl only came around once.
Tee boxes on the front are garbage with very little grass. Fairways are sparse but playable. Greens are the best and fastest we've played in Florida! The tee boxes were better on the back nine. Pace was no better. It was a 5 hour + round, ending in the dark. The course needs to be better with pace, if they're going to overload the course. We love the layout and would normally play it 3 or 4 times while here, but not this time.

You can't go wrong playing here. Course is always in good shape from tee to green. Played at 2:00 and barely got it in before dark.

Hadn't played this course in 30 years. It is a challenging layout and the greens are in great shape. The fairways are dry and like hitting off a rock in most places. The tees are beaten down and look like they haven't been repaired since spring. Even with a Hot Deal, it didn't seem to be a great deal. I hope they get rain soon, otherwise it's not worth the time nor money.

Deer Island is actually on an island! The beauty starts when you come across the road (causeway) to the island. Beautiful views across bothh sides of the island, especially towards Mount Dora. The course itself is in great shape from tee to green! I want to live here and play here everyday! Well worth the hour drive from Orlando area. You'll be rewarded by a great deal on a great course. Thanks Deer Island staff! We'll be back!!

Had an early tee time and had to get there from Kissimee, but it was more than worth getting up and driving the hour. It's always nice when you get an early tee time..there's usually none of the slow round/we're behind BS. The 4 of us had a slightly more than 4 hour round and enjoyed the beautiful layout. Tees, greens and fairways were all in good shape considering it's February! Staff was friendly and courteous. Cart girl was great! Thanks to all the staff for the great course and great day!
We'll be back!

Hadn't played this course in over 5 years. It's still a great course, but comparatively, it's not quite worth what they are charging due to construction on the back nine and not so great tee boxes. All-in-all it is always a pleasure to play. We were the second twosome of the day and so we had no problems with pace of play....3 hours later, we had been passed by a single and were putting our clubs in the car...the joys of playing early!

Hadn't played here in over 5 years. Conditions were as good as they were last time. Some tees were a little worn, but most were good. Fairways and greens were in good condition but pins were in tough places. Some not even fair. Only bad part, like many others haven mentioned is the state of the carts....very old and used....saw one ahead of us die on the 4th hole. Well past time for new ones. But always an enjoyable round...played white to blue.

Winter golf in Florida. Everything was good from tee to green. Reading the previous reviews, we thought we would be 5 hours...nope...just over 4 and a quarter. I'd go back.

Haven't played this course for years. Apparently, it was closed for four years. They have put some money into it, as I guess it was going downhill. Well, it is just as good as it was when we played it years ago. No better, no worse. I will be back!!

Tees, greens and fairways all in great shape. Nice mix of holes. Staff was friendly. Didn't have food. No bar cart. A nice, green course with true, medium-fast greens. Very enjoyable.

Had a great day here. A little cool start but it warmed up nicely. Fairways, tees and greens were all in great shape. Greens are medium speed and pretty true. Lots of trouble if you don't hit straight off the tees. Par 3 over the water is fun!! Staff were all friendly and helpful. Started at 1:40pm and didn't think we'd get it in, but we did, with 10 minutes to spare before we lost the light. Will definitely play again!

This was a very nice course. Has easy holes and hard holes. Needs water on the fairways and greens...a nice day of rain would work wonders...nothing holds, which makes raised greens with trouble at the back a little more difficult than I want or need.

Considering all the rain we've had lately, the course was in great shape! Only one muddy fairway. Some tees are being repaired and greens were in great shape except for where people forget they are supposed to fix their ballmarks!

I've always loved this course and play it often. It's a fun layout with challenges here and there. My only beef is that when they don't allow carts out, that means there's a problem. In this case the course is VERY wet. I agree there should be no carts, but what happened to getting a deal when the course is not in great shape? Not even fall rates anymore. Muddied and disappointed.

Had to wait until they decided to allow carts out after a short rainfall. Yes, it was a little wet, but we've played on a way wetter course before! Cart path only is not unusual after a storm, but how long does it take to make a decison?!? The lady in the pro shop is polite but curt, she needs to be a little more friendly with people who are there to pay her wages. It really doesn't cost her anything to smile once in a while. Other than that, it was a fun day on a challenging cours.
