Grey Rock Golf Club
Played On 05/10/2019Not as bad as everyone thinks it is
Before going to play at Grey Rock, I read all of the terrible reviews about how bad the greens are right now.
Yes, some of the greens are in pretty bad shape, but THEY ARE NOT THAT BAD. That being said - they should not be charging people full price range to play here right now ($50-80/person).
I get the frustration if you paid >$50/person & didn't know the condition of course or if you are going out there expecting to shoot a 71, but that's no the case for most golfers. I read the reviews, but have been wanting to play at Grey Rock for awhile now - so I waited till we could get a really good "deal" time ($22/person).Thought it was well worth that price.
Greens were a little frustrating at times, but to be honest I'd probably still 2 putt even if the greens were in perfect condition. The rest of the course was in great condition especially after all of the rain we have had recently.
You wanna see bad/unplayable greens... go play Olde Oaks Golf Course in Bossier City, LA & then come try to complain about the greens at Grey Rock.
Baytowne at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
Played On 07/15/2017Awesome course, but crowded on a Sat. Morning
Love getting to play on a golf course this nice. This was my second time getting to play Baytowne and the course was in great condition.
It was pretty hot, but can't complain too much for a morning in the middle of July. And they had a cart selling beverages come by probably 3-4 times during our round and another cart with Ice Cold towels came by twice.
Only negative thing of the day was a pretty slow pace of play. It took close to 5 hours to get 18 holes in. At each hole, we were waiting on the group in front of us to hit their second shot and then as soon as we hit off the tee the group behind us would be waiting on us.
The Bluffs on Thompson Creek
Played On 01/14/2017Great LA Course
One of the nicer courses I've played in Louisiana.
Thought the course as a whole was in pretty great condition - especially for the month of January. Most of the greens were in better condition than any other golf course I've been to in the 225 area. Seems like this course took on damage from the floods back in August, but can tell they have been working on repairs. Holes 2 and 3 (which were completely closed back in September)are back open, but still in repair.
Good driving range/putting green to warmup on with unlimited balls.
This was my 2nd time at this course and still have never had any golfers waiting behind us or in front of us.
