Squirrel Run Country Club
Played On 04/24/2017Very Enjoyable for What It Is
Have heard many good things about Squirrel Run over the years. Finally had an opportunity to give it a try recently on a mild but breezy, Monday afternoon. Tightly compacted holes spiral around and run parallel on the front and part of back side. Marvelous, undulating greens are fun to putt, nice speed. There are only three, par 4's on the front only, but the fairways were in nice shape. Rest of the holes are all par 3's. Water comes in to play on a couple holes and a nasty ravine on the 16th hole. We can see how this course attracts seniors, women and new golfers; it is fairly easy, short and fun to play.
For short of a 2.5 hour round, we would go back for an enjoyable "short round". Nice little pro shop also and very friendly staff!
The Country Club at Deer Run
Played On 03/24/2017Unforgiveable Pin Placement
Do not know how this course got 4/5 stars! Must have been older reviews.
Tight lie fairways, ok. Horrible, black dirt, sand traps. Water, water every where. Ok. But the greens? Mostly flat with patchy clumps of uneven grass. Some diseased areas as well. The greens were large so there was no excuse for pin placements near these uneven clumps. To putt through would slow or stop the ball before the cup. You could move ball off to one side if clump was not too large. Course layout is ok, but it feels and looks neglected. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Sandwich Hollows Golf Club
Played On 06/21/2016Enjoyable Course
We have been playing Sandwich Hollows for many years, including when it was called "Round Hill". For a town course, it is in good shape and enjoyable to play. And one of the absolute best bargains whether you play the $29.95 Wednesday or a discounted online tee time. You need a long drive on the Par 5 first hole to the top of the hill or better, or the hole will play a lot longer. One suggestion is to use a "spotter" on holes #2, #8, #14, and #18 to save some time looking for wayward balls. People complain about a slow pace of play, well knowing where your ball landed or if it is still in play will save some of that time! Don't forget to look up once in a while and take in the views of Cape Cod Bay (hole #3 especially). SH is a long and hilly course, like most Cape courses, and very enjoyable and challenging.
RedTail Golf Club
Played On 03/23/2016Pretty and Challenging Course
Three of us played Red Tail Golf Club recently, it was an excellent experience! Take advantage of the driving range and putting green warm up before hitting this long, OPEN course. But be warned, the greens are not as fast as the practice green. A few greens had many dry patches, but most were in great shape. This course is not sick with sand traps or water, but a nice mix with moguls to contend with on many holes. Wide fairways in very good condition. You do not come back to the clubhouse at the turn, but a restroom with ice and cold water are on the turn. Beautiful clubhouse.
Can't wait to go back!
Bay Pointe Country Club
Played On 10/17/2014Best condition in many years
Took advantage of a special to play 18 holes with a good friend. Course is in great condition compared to 2 or more years ago. Greens have come back very nicely, especially #17. Bunkers could use some cleaning up. Holes #1 and #2 continue to be a big challenge from tee to green.
Only complaint on this day was the extremely slow foursome in front of us. No rangers in site on a busy Friday afternoon. All in all, always enjoy this great course!
Thanks so much for the review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Sandwich Hollows Golf Club.
