Plantation Lakes Golf and Country Club
Played On 10/07/2016Great experience BUT........
Really liked the layout and several holes had you thinking about positioning the ball. The starter was very friendly. (even brought a cart to my vehicle before I even turned my truck off)
BUT.... the following was annoying.
-The course was wide open and we were early and the cashier in the pro shop wanted us to wait for our actual starting time 20 minutes later until we went out. (REALLY!?)
-The course maintenance staff were oblivious to golfers... wouldn't get out of the way or stop equipment even when they were yards away from us.
Mulligan's Pointe
Played On 05/02/2014Has potential BUT falls way short...
Like many other former private clubs that couldn't make it and had to open to the public to survive there is an attitude of "we want our cake and eat it too!" In other words, give us your money and stay out of our way while we look down our noses at you.
When I arrived 30-45 minutes early I was told that I had to wait until the actual tee time before heading out. Although there was only a handful of folks on the course and no one else in sight, this was fine with me. I figured I would hit the driving range and putting green. I was told that the driving range was closed and so I headed to the putting green to kill the time. The ENTIRE time before teeing off NO ONE showed up!! Some locals then strolled over to use the driving range that was supposedly closed?? I didn't rock the boat and headed up to the club house at my scheduled time only to be paired with two others that had booked online. These two were playing out of one golf bag and I was in for a treat. Evidently, all GOLFNOW tee times are grouped together.
As we hit the course for our 5 hour round the course was extremely saturated with water. There were several homes during one stretch of the front nine that had dogs that would either run up to you. On one occasion a very large dog jumped up on a fence only feet from the cart path with a VERY vicious bark. I thought one of my playing partners was going to have a heart attack! 20 minutes before making the turn one of the guys I was playing with called the restaurant and ordered a club sandwich as we arrived we still waited 10 more minutes for the order to be completed.
The back nine was filled with adventure as we had one homeowner come out as my partners veered off the cart path, which was not marked by the way, to give them a lecture about staying on the path. REALLY!? We didn't make it two more holes before we had the pro coming out on the course to ask us to PLEASE stay on the path and he forgot to tell us. He mentioned that he had received several calls from residents. We finished up and I packed my clubs up and came up with two conclusions:
1. There is NO amount of Money for me to be that pro and work in that environment
2. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!!
OVERALL: Although I got a tremendous deal online I would've paid full price to be treated as a respected customer. It is a real shame because the course layout was GREAT. In a few years with this type of service it will only be a memory of the past.
Rum Pointe Golf Course
Played On 3/15/2013Great Layout on the Bay
The course has a good layout of risk/reward shots. On windy days this would be a real beast depending on direction. They have a good variety of tees for all skill levels to choose from.
The day we played they had aerated the greens a few days earlier so there were some bumpy putts that kicked off-line. Understandable for the off-season but this was not designated on the Golf Now descriptor like other courses. This would've been good to know before booking because this is one of the more costly courses.
Baywood Greens
Played On 2/15/2013Still My Favorite Course in the Area!
I've always loved the entire package at Baywood Greens. (layout, club house, eye candy galore, etc.)
However, when you play in the winter months they are always doing A LOT of maintenance work. This means several holes have dug up areas, workers standing in the fairway, carts always zooming by when you are swinging, etc. The greens were also recovering from a recent aeration and you had only 2 choices on the tee...... the women's tees or the beast tees! REALLY... who made that call? They also started us on #10 when I played.... THANK THE LORD that they didn't jam us up and they kept that format throughout the day. There was several areas that had water standing too.
All this being said I still love the place. They should just be more hospitable during the off-season with the prices and remember that the folks on the course are the customers.
GlenRiddle Golf Club - Man O' War Course
Played On 11/9/2012LINKS at its best!
This was my first round on a true links style course. It is very cool how they designed this course around the stables and old horse farm. They really stayed true to the history of the property.
I ran in to this problem as well, back around the time you did. BUT, they've since changed the entire golf maintenance company and superintendant, and they actually know what theyre doing, theyre great.
