So much potential.

First time playing this course and came away thinking the place has so much potential that it is just not living up to. Most of the tee boxes were just OK. Not a big concern for me because I always use a tee anyway. Fairways were fair. There is grass in the fairways for the most part but it is spotty in places and sparse in others. Some areas you just need to play by winter rules and find a patch close by to hit from. The bigger problem with a lot of the fairways was the terrain. Some areas with large washout trenches and bare areas that made for an extremely bumpy ride. Just have to go slow and find a way around. Greens were fair to less than fair. Pretty bumpy and hard. Only had one approach where I could find any sign of a pitch mark and my normal ball flight is pretty high. Just have to realize some putts aren't going in because half way to the hole it will hit a bump or depression in the green and get knocked offline. Carts were less than desirable. I think every single cart I saw had a large chunk of seat cushion missing from the front corner. My cart had no sand bottles or bucket to repair divots. It did get me around the 18 holes without dying though so bonus there. The course has a great layout and shows that it could be a super nice facility if only had the resources to put a little more into it. For the price it's not horrible as long as you go in knowing it's not going to be a high level playing surface basically from tee to green. Would I go back, yes. Would I recommend you try it, yes. Would it be my first choice, probably not.

Greens a bit bumpy

Overall it was a good round. The greens are very bumpy and the fairways a little sparse and cut rather short but it is just coming out of winter dormant so it will improve soon. Got a great afternoon price and wasn't in a hurry which was a good thing because I caught up to a group of three who were obviously new to golf, which is fine but there was a foursome ahead of them and the newbies would wait not only until the foursome was out of reach to tee off but until the foursome had completely cleared the green. Then when they were finally ready to tee off they would be on their phone instead. It was a nice afternoon and I enjoyed the day, but a marshal explaining to them they could hit when the group ahead was out of reach would be a good idea.

Long rough

Course overall was nice and in fair shape. The greens were all very good. It was wet due to rain but the biggest problem is the length of the rough. It is that real spongy type of grass a lot of the areas and it was cut so high that if you were off the fairway even a couple feet is was a challenge to find the ball. If you were off by a few yards and didn't know exactly where it landed, forget it you were not going to find it. The fairways on the other hand were cut extremely short so even in the middle of the fairway it was a tight lie with no real space under the ball. Premium contact was a must. Overall for the price paid it is a good value. Just bring a lot of balls or make sure you are in the fairway.

Fair shape

The front 9 is in good condition. The fairways are for the most part good grass and hittable surface. The gfeens are all very good. The back 9 however is a different story. The fairways are rough with a lot of patchy spots and little grass. The greens on the back 9 are all very good. If you don't mind hitting approach shots from bare ground or implementing a rule with your buddies to be able to place the ball on some nearby grass the back 9 is OK. If hitting from bare ground and play it as it lies is not for you, you might want to wait until a little more work has been done to improve the back fairways. Overall for us though the round was good and I like this course so I am willing to put up with the conditions some. Still a good value.

Nice day of golf

Played this course yesterday for the first time. Decided to make the drive from Orlando area based on recent reviews and the price being pretty good. Upon arrival I was greeted in the prosjop by a nice man and was on my way. Played with two friends and we were offered individual carts due to the virus but one of my friends and I work together daily so we shared a cart to have more for others. The course was in decent shape. Not sure I would agree with some of the stellar reviews lately but maybe I am spoiled with so many great courses in Orlando. Tee boxes were fair,, fairways were OK with some spotiness of grass and weeds but all mowed evenly. Greens were good and rolling fast. The surrounding of the fairways and rest of the course was a little ruff with weeds and over growth. I could see how this could be a beautiful place all around if the money was available to do it. The course layout is interesting with the front and back 9 being split across the roadway. Going to the 10th tee we weren't sure we were on the right path as we traveled down a long dirt road bordering the street. Eventually getting to the tee however and we were good. The community is also home to a waterskiing area with a couple of holes crossing the lakes where the skiers come past. Very interesting and cool. Saw some really good waterskiing while hitting on number 12. Over all it is a nice course with ample grass and good greens. Pace of play was good despite it being pretty busy we played 18 holes in just under 4 hours. Staff and even a couple of local residents we met were friendly and welcoming and gave the impression they were glad we gave them a try. Despite it being a bit of a drive for me considering I have so many other choices close by, I would still plan on returning now and then just for something a little different. All in all a great day of golf.

Nice layout

Overall the course was in good condition and it has a nice layout with a lot of elevation changes and undulating greens. A bit different than the typical Florida layout. Fairways are in good shape and tee boxes are fair with a few rough areas. Greens overall are in decent shape and roll true. There are a few greens that have some bad areas with fungus and patchwork grass but not bad enough to ruin play. As prices are going up at all the courses this is still a good deal for the condition. If you like large greens with challenging reads instead of just boring straight flat puts, this is a course for you. Overall a fun day of golf. I might add it was very busy but the pace was quite good considering. Will definitely be back to play again soon.

Don't value residents

I played this course recently on a hot, sunny afternoon when there was very few people out on the course during a time of renovations with less than ideal conditions. I can say I have played this course many times as I live in the community., The biggest disappointment for me is that they were charging more for residents to play than for non residents. When I brought this up to the staff I was told that sometimes that is just the way it is to try to entice people to come and play. So, during the hot summer months when the residents are here and play and support them, the attitude is charge more for residents to show their appreciation. I can honestly say I don't really get the idea of charging more for one status over the other. We are all golfers wanting to play and enjoy so why charge one person more than the other rather than just have a rate for everyone to enjoy. But, I understand that almost all courses have different rates for residents and non residents, but this is the only course I have ever been to, anywhere, that charges more for the residents who support them year round. Although I love this course, especially when it is in great condition, with so many courses to choose from in the area that are comparable and many cheaper, I will have to think about playing here much more in the future. I'm sure that with the desire of wanting to get all those absent tourist and snowbirds to play the hot summer days will more than make up for my absence and they will be fine.

Response to course statement about my review. I absolutely did not misinterpret the rates. I booked online and the rate for non residents was $23.00 plus tax and fees for a total of just over $27.00. The rate for residents was $29.00 plus tax and fees. I booked under the non resident rate because I was not going to pay the higher rate. I played at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Monday. If you look at the rate for residents on Monday the 19th of this month at 1:20 in the afternoon it is $29.00. Similar time and day and the rate is still $29.00. The rates for non residents on your site now appear to be corrected to reflect higher rates at various times, not a surprising response given my first review. However on the day I played they were less for non residents. This was verified by the lady working that day as she admitted they sometimes do that online. I have a screen shot of the reservation with the price if you would like to see if it as it is in the history of my online reservations. I would post it here for you if I could but there is not a way to do that with the comment section from a previous post. I would have to start a new review where I can post pictures to do it. I get it that you are probably embarrassed to have had this pointed out about your course, but to respond and imply that I was somehow misinformed or misunderstood the pricing, rather than just admit either that you made a mistake or that it is just your policy, is further disrespect to the people who pay to play your course when there are very few people here during the hot months playing.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent visit. We are sorry for any confusion, but your assessment of our pricing is not accurate. Throughout the year we offer discounted Florida resident rates which are less - sometimes significantly less - than our posted rack rates. We do value our loyal customers that support us throughout the year, and are happy to provide this amenity to them.

We do utilize a demand-based pricing module to ensure the best possible rates for all guests, which could explain the rate difference you saw if there was a mistake in the program. We will review this to ensure pricing accuracy and hope to see you back at the course again once our period of maintenance is complete.

Just punched the greens

This course has three 9 hole courses labeled A, B, and C. We specifically booked B and C because we had heard the greens on A had just been aerated. When we got there the course and the starter had us playing A and C instead. We explained that we had booked B and C but they were having none of it. Basically implied they dont care what we booked they were putting us on what they wanted. The course wasnt bad but the greens on the A course were not really playable do to the sand and bumps but we adjusted. Going from those greens however to the C course where the greens were normal was difficult at first because the speed was so different. The course layout is very nice and overall it was a good day because we were golfing but with the number of very nice courses in the area, we wont need to go back to this course and be treated so rudely and not get what we booked and paid for. This course is a munii so I am sure they will be fine without us. If you go and play just ask about the conditions because they did not have it advertised.

Slow play

This was my first time playing this course. We had an early morning tee time. There was a very large group playing together that was scheduled just in front of us. The guy working the club house said to tell them to get us out in front of them or let us go off the back. Well neither of those things happened and it made it a miserable pace. We had a twosome behind us that was very impatient and were hitting on us all the time and we could not go any faster because we were waiting all the time too. The course is very nice, the people are very nice, the greens are fast and challenging, the fairways are in good condition, but the pace of play was horrendous. I will wait until summer to go back when the price is more reasonable and the volume has decreased. When we finished is when the people working said we should have sent a marshal out to speed things up. Really, you think?

Nice Experience

This was my playing buddy and my first time playing this course. We got paired with another twosome that had played it before so that helped. The course is in good condition. A couple of the greens had a few bare spots but thankfully they did not place the pins in those bad areas. Some of the greens are very sloped and undulating. The pin placement on some of them was very challenging for putting because it was on the slope. The two we were paired with had numerous puts just of the edge because of how much curve you had to allow. Many of the holes will reward you for NOT pulling out the driver and just bombing it out there. Placing the tee shot in the right spot many times led to much better scores. Bunkers were fair with good sand. Fairways with good grass. Overall a pleasant round and I will go back and play again especially in the summer when the rates drop.

Great conditon

Played this course for the second time and had a great day. The course is in beautiful condition. They are supposedly prepping for a tournament coming up this week and so the greens were fast but in great shape. The course was very busy but the pace of play was good and everyone there was very friendly. I will definitely be going back more. It is a bit of a drive for me but worth it.

Nice Experience

This was my first time playing this course and it was well worth the trip. I was able to get a pretty good deal through golf now and went with a friend who is familiar with the course. First, the club house and facilities are very nice. The people were very welcoming and friendly. Next, the driving range. It is ok. It is very short. I was not able to hit much more than a 7 iron. No driver warm up for sure. Not a huge deal to me though as I am more concerned with just getting the muscles warmed, not particularly to practice a particular club. Finally the course. There are 3 nine hold courses so they tell you which courses to play if you are doing 18 holes. The course is in good shape and challenging. The fairways are cut a little short for my liking but overall not too bad. The greens are in good shape and are maybe a little slower than I am used to but they roll good. The biggest negative is the course markings. Trying to figure out where to go was a challenge. The signs to guide you around the course from one tee box to the next were horrible. Once you figure out where you are going however it is a pleasurable course to play. Our only problem was the foursome in front of us for about the first 7 or 8 holes. Very slow, waiting for each member of the group to hit then drive to the next ball and wait and so on. Finally the ranger came along and talked to them and that helped a little and then they let us play through on the 9th so we were able to get ahead of them and it was clear sailing from then on. After the first 18 we stopped and had lunch and then inquired about playing 9 more on the third course we had not tried yet. We were able to add that on and play 9 more for a bonus to the day. All in all it was a great day. I would highly recommend giving this course a try if you are in the Lakeland area and have never tried it.

Beautiful facility, fair course

This was my first time playing at this course and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the facility is with the clubhouse and restaurant and such. The people were very friendly and offered good explanations of where everything was located. The course was playing cart path only due to the amount of rain which is no big deal. The course itself was a fair layout and had nice environment surrounding it but a lot of the greens and tee box areas were lacking. A good portion of the greens appears to have some kind of virus with a lot of bear and dead spots. The greens were rolling fairly well but conditions were not ideal by any stretch. The tee boxes had a lot of areas of weeds and very patchy grass as well. The fairways were in pretty decent condition but because of all the rain it was like hitting out of soup. You definitely needed to have great contact on the ball or you end up with a club full of mud and the ball flight was greatly affected. Hopefully it will dry out soon and make a much better play. The overall experience is something I would definitely do again once it dries out a little. It would be an A+ course if they could remedy the greens and tee boxes. Worth a try if you have never played it.

Good time

This course is a good value. The fairways are a little rough with some bare spots and dead areas but overall it does not really affect the play. The greens were in good condition for the most part and were running fast. A few places on the greens need some attention but for the price you can play this course compared to some of the other courses in the area it is not really anything to complain about. Overall I had a good time and will return in the future. Worth the price if you have never played here.

Course is in very good condition

I had an opportunity to play this course just yesterday. The course overall is in very good shape. The greens and nice and rolling true. Fairways are good and the tee boxes are much better than the last time I was here. In my opinion this a a great course with a good value for the price they charge. The people are always very friendly and the bar always has nice cold beer for after the round. I will definitely being playing here more often.

Great course

Played this course on 10/03/16. Started out great and then got stuck behind a slow foursome who was searching for balls on every hole. Was able to get around them at the turn and pace was great after that. The course overall is in beautiful shape. The fairways and greens and terrific. A few of the tee boxes are a little ruff but hey my ball is on a tee above the ground most of the time anyway right? The hard part about this course is the ruff. Not real sure what type of grass it is but it is that real spongy stuff. Just a little off the fairway and the ball sinks down in that stuff and it is very difficult to find. You have to keep you r eye on the ball and pick out landmarks close to where it lands to even have a chance if you are not in the fairway. I had an incredible tee shot on 17 but hit it through the split fairway and never found the little sucker. :(. Puts a bit of challenge into keeping it on the short stuff. Overall however this is a great course with nice people working there and in a beautiful environment. Do yourself a favor and try it if you never have.

Slow, Slow, Slow

Not sure if there was a tournament or something out early or this course was just very busy. 18 holes in a cart and it took a little over 5 hours. The course is nice and the fairways are in great shape. A few if the tee boxes and greens are a bit rough and need some attention but it overall is quite playable. Course has a lot of water areas that will eat your ball if you are not a straight hitter. Pretty good challenge for the average hitter. A lot of the holes are quite picturesque but then you are greeted with power lines running directly across in front of you on the tee shot of 18th hole. Just imagine they are not there and grip and rip. The one negative I would say is they only had one poor guy working trying to cover check in, the restaurant, and all other aspects. No starter, no one to designate carts, etc.. It seemed kind of do it yourself after paying. If you are used to being catered too at resorts or high end clubs, this place is not for you.
