I love this course..,people are great..,good history..,greens and course were also good as usual. I frequently recommend this course to friends and always will. Much love ❤ for San Marcos!!

Koko is usually kind of sloppy but was almost unplayable this time. Way overpriced.

The course needed attention: VERY Shaggy next to fairways and greens : you couldn't see your ball even just 3 or 4 feet from the edge of the green ( unless you were literally standing right over it). To make matters worse , we were paired with a " member" who was rude and had worse etiquette than anyone I remember playing with in a long time : he acted like he owned the place. The likelihood of me ever subjecting myself to this again is extremely low. I would rather pay half the price for a better maintained course and a greater chance of being paired with a friendly , non- caustic partner.

I really like this course but won't play it again until they do something about the pace of play. It is fun to play in the summer but nothing is done to manage the pace in the winter so that creates a very undesirable situation : waiting 15 minutes or more to take a shot isn't good.
That's too bad.

I play alot of golf throughout the state..,I honestly cannot remember ever having been so satisfied with a round of golf..,the price was so reasonable and the overall experience of the round was so high quality that it made my personal list of "best deals ever" AND " best courses played" at once! I loved this course and would practically lie,cheat ,or steal to play it again.,Don't take my word for it..,GO ! Treat yourself..,you'll be glad you did. And by the way..,I didn't really even shoot that well..,lol!!

For the money,this seemed like a terrific value..,the course was in nice shape and everybody I met that worked there was friendly. We were also lucky with the weather so it made for a very nice day ; the snack bar was closed : I would have got something(not that I NEED it !! LOL) but it didn't really bother me that I couldn't ; no doubt that I would play it again despite that : good course,good deal..,what's not to like?

This was a pleasant surprise : for the amount I paid I was expecting there to be something wrong wit the course or something but there wasn't. The layout was good and the overall conditions were good as well..,about the only thing wrong was that the snack bar wasn't open and I was pretty hungry..,STILL..,A terrific value for the money!! I'll play it again for sure.

I started playing golf at this course in 1968 so it will always be a special place for me. The course was in good shape and I really enjoyed playing it.., pace was too slow : they kinda needed a ranger to move things along but ther wasn't one around.., ultimately it didn't matter that much .., it was just a bit slow: the course is well worth what I payed to play it.

I have played this course a number of times over the last couple of years : It has NEVER been in bad shape..,hats off to the greens keepers. The staff there was super friendly and the whole experience was really good..,can't think of anything negative to say about this course OR it's staff...,definitely a great value for the money.

I thought the name Phantom Horse was cooler...,As for the course ; WOW ! what a treat to play this at the time we did ; we played after a torrential down pour and were a little skeptical at the outset.Well I have to tell you that we were pleasantly suprised by how quickly and efficiently it drained into a state of perfect playability :What a great course this is ! Hats off to the dudes that designed it and especially to the people that maintain it.

This is a south phoenix treasure..,the course was in excellent shape and has been everytime I've played it..,I was involved with the construction of this course and used to play it everyday after work before a cup was ever cut into a green..,I considered this my second "home course" , so going there is always like visiting an old friend : it never fails to please. I would strongly reccomend playing this course to anybody but I'm pretty biased in favor of it.

First, I booked for the advertised price and the staff there tried to get an additional three dollars out of me when I went to pay..,that's something they should tell you ..,he finally "settled" for an amount that was greater than the advertised price "so we would BOTH be happy". To make matters worse, they were 1/2 an hour late starting which would have been understandable if there had been a frost delay (in Arizona ) ha ha.The course had alot of "bad turf" areas and there was standing water in fairways(which I would understand if it had recently rained but it hasn't). On a more positive note ; the greens were in excellent shape and the food in the clubhouse was excellent (staff in there was also very friendly).

there is no question that this course is something special ..,I think the views are probably some of the best in the valley. Unfortunately there was a "bunker reconstruction" project underway, but that made the green fee very affordable so maybe it wasnt such a bad thing..,the course was so nice it didn't really matter..,GLAD I played it and there is no doubt that I will play it again.

this is a shorter course with pretty good conditions ; the greens are well taken care of and the people were friendly..,overall a pretty good value.

I've played this course alot..,and NEVER been disappointed ; greens are always perfect,staff is nice and the overall experience is one of the better golf experiences in the valley area...,a great value for the money !!

Although this course was in pretty rough shape , I really liked it..,I would play it again because it had a freal nice "feel" to it ; you really feel like you're playing some "backcountry" golf.

I REALLY like this course..,the upkeep is good and the staff is always friendly..,as we made the turn , a group jumped in front of us and proceeded to play extremely slow ; thought this kinda thing should have been kept in check by the rangers but it wasn't..,we just tried not to let it bother us.If you play..,BRING REPELLENT !! The mosquitos are out and they want your blood. The mosquitos and occasional etiquette breach notwithstanding..,this course is far and away the best deal for 50 miles in either direction.

although the greens were excellent I DID have some minor issues with this course ; 1.they charge way too much for an executive course 2.they tried to rush us off the course before it was dark and before we finished our round (the grounds crew was pulling flags for the night out from in front of us and on one hole made 2 parties wait at the tee while they mowed the green in front of us!) There was more than ample time for us to finish the round ; in fact,there was enough time for the two parties following us to finish too ! I like this course but not what it has become..,it used to be a good value but it appears that over time the ownership has become more concerned with their bottom line than with providing a quality golf experience.

I really liked the greens on this course..,the pace of play was very poor at first ; we had to actually skip a hole to move ahead of the group in front of us and then noticed that two other groups did the same thing after us..,no ranger on an exec.course I guess.All of that aside, it was a pretty decent executive course despite being charged a little too much ; I would play it again but would wait till they offered some kind of deal.

Thanks to Golfnow I had an opportunity to play this course;it would be a bit too expensive for my golf budget were I attempting to book by other means. The course is in great shape and the whole experience was exceptional.If you get a chance,play this course..,you won't regret it.
