Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 12/01/2017Mystic Dunes - glory returns
Challenging golf course which places premium in short placement, especially on the greens. If you don't place your shot in the best location (especially on some greens), your good shot can leave you with a next shot more difficult than you had hoped.
I have always wanted to play here. So I was excited when the course re-opened. One must remember that I played in the dominant grass growing season so some fairways were not perfect but definitely playable. Once the growing season starts & these thin grass areas can be re-seeded or re-sodded, this course will be one of the premier locations in CFla.
Despite the non-growing season, the greens were in excellent condition,. Fast but not too fast. Shot location is very important.
Golf carts are new and shows the club's commitment to an improved experience. If GPS is added to the carts, I think it would be great for the players and increase pace of play during the busy season.
Staff is very friendly & helpful. And the restaurant/bar has good and reasonably priced items.
I would suggest (either thru GPS on the golf carts or some other type of information sheet) that the Club provide golfers with assistance on shot placement especially in regards to the greens.
I am excited to play here again
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 08/08/2017Rio Pinar Country Club - Classic Course
I enjoyed my round at Rio Pinar CC. The course condition was good. The layout reminded me of the club I grew up playing; challenging, fair & no tricked up items. Also it was a good to see the large participation in the First Tee program. The present and future of golf is dependent on increased participation of the younger generations. Great job!
MetroWest Golf Club
Played On 07/20/2016Friendly staff, good layout but needs turf mgmt help
This is the 2nd time I have played here in the last nine months. This is kind of sad since I live less than 10 minutes away.
Let's start with the good: friendly staff from beginning to the end of my visit. Overall, the greens have improved since my last visit. But still too many bare or damaged spots. The front nine fairways were also better tho still some poor patches. The very low cost encouraged me to return. I was hoping for turf management improvements.
The bad: The tee boxes are still the worst I have ever experienced. Many had little decent turf, most had the appearance of a mowed vacant lot. The tee boxes need a major rebuild including increasing size, leveling of the box & all new turf. The condition of the back nine fairways is poor. Some fairways have very limited turf & on those holes you are actually better off in the rough in order to avoid hitting off dirt. There are several issues that cause the turf problems. But all problems need to be addressed or fairways will be completely lost.
I hope the improvements are made since the golf club has so much potential. If they are not, you are better off to head out the country & play in the pastures.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 07/18/2016Great value, Quality links course
The wind, off-on sprinkles enhanced the feel of a Scottish style links course. Visually the layout has many quality features of a links course. Course playability is very good. Course requires players to think their way around each hole. I will definitely play Royal St Cloud many more times.
Crooked Cat at Orange County National
Played On 11/26/2015Excellent Thanksgiving Round
We played a Scottish style course on a Scottish style day of changing wide directions & velocity, sprinkles on a few holes & brilliant sunshine. Despite the course was over-seaded for general maintenance purposes, it still was in good condition & the greens were excellent. We are excited to return, not only to play the Crooked Cat but also to experience the Panther course too.
Thank you for the 5-star review and for coming out to play. We hope to see you again soon.
