Better than seeing Punxsutawney Phil ... the Mayor is an alligator about the size of a Honda Civic ... he was out behind the 8th hole sunning himself ... everyone knows and loves him ... you'll further like the course which was in excellent condition ... running hard, fast, and true ... the pace of play even on a good day is about 4 to 4.5 hours for the round .... cannot say enough about the residents, staff and membership who are there ... all good ... careful on the drive into the complex as you'll need to abide by the 15 mph limit especially with all the golf carts in the community ... Thank you Great Outdoors !!!

After a great welcome by the “Handsome” gentleman at the Pro Shop, we were able to get out promptly ... after getting past a threesome of novices, we sailed around ... spoke with the greatly respected Superintendent about the strides that they were making as it’s overwhelmingly evident how much is going on ... long range, the potential for the course is encouraging ... tee to green it’s palatable, especially the boxes which are pristine ... fairways and greens are hit or miss but I cannot complain as I absolutely love the design of each hole ... from the tips, you’d need to come out of a cage to reach some of the holes in regulation as far as some of par fours go ... half of the four par fives are reachable but the opening hole is legitimate bear as is the twelfth ... six of the nine holes on the backside will make a gorilla drool ... value-wise, I cannot find a better deal on Golfnow with the exception of trying to score as the greens do make it difficult ... thanks again for an enjoyable day (for me) ... I’ll be back again just to praise the staff as they work this “Gem” back to it’s potential ... keep doing what you’re all doing !!! The Staff and Owners iR Five Star ***** unquestionably !!!

This wonderful Lee Trevino design is just improving continuously as this was my third round inside of 10 days. What’s most impressive is the staff and members who I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with who are just as outstanding. They all go out of their way to make sure that others enjoy their experience and want you to come back. My condolences...I will be accommodating their requests. About the actual course...it is an impressive layout favorable for left to right play with slope, elevation, church pew bunkers (they’re really pot bunkers in disguise and they’re penal), “post stamp” greens, and plenty of water with forced carries. You can play bomb and gouge but you should have an idea of where you are going otherwise just play the style of “SuperMex” to enjoy your experience. They are going the extra distance which you notice with the over seeded rye tee boxes and you can see that conditions are definitely on the upswing as I saw improvement from day one to day ten. I’m booking probably very soon as who wouldn’t enjoy this experience that awaits you. My best advice...take “Amen Corner” seriously and remember that the greens here are not the course’s defense...it’s getting to them at La Cita that becomes the challenge...just enjoy! I especially liked how one of the grounds crew staff said that he loved his job...impressive...Thanks La Cita ! ! !

Just what you would expect from the aptly named “The Great Outdoors”...much to rave from the moment you enter the gated community and are met with wonderful security personnel (they are really nice)...after a nice ride, you arrive and then everything gets even more wonderful...by the time you get through the clubhouse staff, you are greeted by a fabulous starter who can’t be any better than great (different staff on separate occasions...close your eyes and they’re all same)...then be prepared for a true country club layout with “post stamp “ like greens and marvelously ideal conditions (nice work superintendent and crew)...the layout gives you everything in subtle doses but it plays longer than what the yardage indicates...you can play underneath but I feel that you’re better off trying to carry most of the holes so I’d recommend playing up a club as it seems that this works well...otherwise just enjoy your time out there as it will take a bit longer than a typical round probably because the average golfer looks to be short 80% of time here...”yes really “...kudos to everyone who makes this place work especially the “Pro” who I would blame for how much people are going to like playing here...warning: a very large alligator will also welcome you...appropriate etiquette is recommended with him...otherwise, ENJOY!!!

Exceptional layout with great options for all levels of golfers. Conditions after tons of rain were decent which I would credit the maintenance staff for providing. Look forward to seeing this beautiful place again as it is truly exceptional and one of the best public courses in the area. Kudos and thanks to all the staff for making this experience positive.

Place was very busy for a 7:10 tee time as the parking lot was close to full (always a great sign). Played with high handicappers who were just out to enjoy the game and they were lots of fun. The guy I was partnered with shot at least 140 but it helped us by me scoring 75 from the whites. The grounds crew, superintendent, and staff just killing themselves. Tee to green the course was awesome. I gave them a five star for conditions because for what the weatherman has provided...they are just acing it compared to other courses! Thank you guys :) Newton Commonwealth - Sterling Golf should be really given a pat on the back for practicing very safe COV-19 guidance/protocol

Rehabbing from recent knee surgery and found the perfect remedy...great place to start and actually beyond expectations...course conditions are close to a 10 out of 10...absolutely pristine...Just what the doctor ordered and then some...Dave and the rest of the staff are even better rated than the course conditions if you could believe me...kudos to the couple who recently just aced the same hole on back to back days...love ^ya^ Squirrel Run...Great place for a date with a wife or girlfriend...

Played for the second time in the last 10 days...it's a treat from tee to green. You need to to bring your "A" game as it's long and has some tight-ish fairways. Greens were true and firm-fast but very fair. They could only improve with what looks to be a potential for the course burning out in areas where the effects of the dry winter has shown up. It's a just a nice place...Thank you Country Club of Halifax the opportunity.

Just as the title indicates...Boston's closest public course is in fine shape for the amount of play it receives. The layout is modified from original but there remains some decent holes to make it interesting. Lot's of elevation and hilly terrain will make it not quite a walk in the park...Thanks for the effort to make this place a fun experience...they also are doing a great job compared to other courses protecting staff and players from Covid-19.

The staff as always was just a perfect 10 out of 10...They so get the idea of the perfect place to play this lovely game...Course was just ideal for this time of the year from tee to green...We played the round in just over 3 hours walking at a leisurely pace...greens were spot on and quick...they had to have rolled these babies as they were close to glass-like smooth and true...thanks guys...if you'll have me...I'll be back tomorrow :) Thanks guys !!!

Course offered lot's of challenges especially with the length and hazards offered. Pace of play was normal for the amount of players on the course. Everyone enjoyed themselves in this group for sure...Thanks!

Great round for mid November...conditions fantastic other than the greens which will probably be pretty much the same until the spring...nice concept of maintenance by the superintendent to insure that the greens are taken care of rather than risk chance of trying to spike with the monsoon like conditions everyone saw in New England early this past year...especially a place like Braintree where the water table is pretty high to begin with...Cudos!!!

Absolute as nice a course condition wise in the area. Staff outstanding as far as Pro Shop, Ranger, and Grounds Crew. Have done so much over the years to make this a place to frequent as well as a destination. Nice variety with a great and picturesque finishing hole. Back side definitely the harder of the two nines. Perfect...Thank You Braintree...everyone should play here...I wished I lived here!

You know they are doing what they can. Advertising for grounds screw staff so if they had the help for example...the tee boxes would have been cut. Fairways are on the way back and they are working on the sand traps. Overall...nice experience. I would say that at this tine of the season...pretty good especially the staff...always awesome!

Have been playing this Robert Trent Jones "gem" for decades...best conditions ever. Mohawk Valley's not so best kept secret + the staff are just great. Everyone should experience this place but you'll need to ride as the course will test anyone deciding to walk especially the front nine. If the pins are ever put in difficult positions...you could lose your mind trying not to three putt as the slope/break can be treacherous. Stay in front of every green as coming back to front...you will need your "A" game...E N J O Y the views from #7 and #17...postcard material.

The complexity of the last hole on the nine hole track will make you lose sleep. Tee box conditions could be a tad better. Staff and amenities were top notch. Greens a treat as well. Nice place location wise for a course but just needs a little more TLC.

This Donald Ross design is one thing especially as I have played there in the past and knew what to expect...only the conditions I thought would be a surprise...but I was wrong...the best surprise was the outstandingly courteous and caring staff...they wanted the best experience possible and despite issues with the players in my group who were a bit challenged to say the least...everything turned out great in the end despite having to partially fund one of the guys in our foursome because there was" mis-communication" with his friend over reservations. The staff was awesome in smoothing over everything...thank you all...you guys are great! Hope I get the chance to come back as I really like Triggs for surprising me with kindness.

You cannot beat the friendly staff that greet you and are more than accommodating. My son decided to join me as he attends school nearby. BJ and Sue were great...we got to enjoy a rare afternoon. Course was really feeling the affects of the monsoon like New England spring but everything was pretty much at near peak season form. If we ever get some heat and don't have severe drought as with some seasons...this place will be able to get back to five stars. The layout and difficulty potential are superior. as with any Donald Ross layout. From the tips this an extremely difficult track as we played up since my son had not played in over a year and balls were not rolling out...it plays long from even the men's tee marker. Greens are fast and sloping but very true. Thank you for a great experience...would love to be back ASAP.

OSL gave everyone a treat to compliment a 60 degree day in February...Only a handful of courses could pull this off but the outstanding staff had nearly 120 golfers smiling including our group. 90% of the pins were frozen solid but no one complained especially with the new rule change allowing for this. Thank you OSL and staff for a treat...hope we get another one of these...soon!
