Downingtown Country Club
Played On 08/26/2023Best 1st tee sign I ever saw
The first tee had a sign that advised which tee to play based on average drives. Made tee choice much easier than just looking at total yards. More courses should adopt this practice.
Course was in great shape but was surprised how slow the greens were for how well the course is maintained. They rolled true and were in good shape but were slower than I expect for a course that charges $90 to play. Minor complaint compared to how fun it us to play.

Played On 08/26/2022Great Elevation Changes and Interesting Layout
Great course, good for all levels of golfer. Greens tend to run on fast side for a public course. Course architecture is fun with challenging holes with cool elevation changes. Always enjoy my rounds here.
Golden Oaks Golf Club
Played On 08/26/2022Greens had not fully recovered from aerating
Aeration had clearly been done recently but the greens were healing nicely. I was hoping to be paired with someone but had to play as a single, behind a couple of foursomes. Took my time between shots and still finished in 3 hours and twenty minutes. But the course is so much fun to play even playing like that could not ruin it.
Turtle Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2022Mostly generous fairways with a great 18th hole
Turtle Creek is always in good shape and is fun to play. A few holes have tight tee shots but mostly a wide open course. The 18th hole par 5 is great finishing hole where par is a rare feat in the groups I have played. Greens speed is above average but play with less break than they may appear. Fun course to play.
Spring Hollow Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2022Very hilly course with some tight tee shots
Mostly a forgiving course with a few quirks: arguably no room for a draw on Hole 1 off the tee, multiple greens are so elevated that approach shots are relatively blind, and back to back par threes on the back nine. That being said overall it is fun to play, but because of the elevation changes it plays longer than the yardage.
Reading Country Club
Played On 07/10/2022Hilly course, tight in spots, but fun to play
The course is not long, but don't let that fool you as the elevation changes make it play longer than yardage. Some blind shots may surprise you, so it may be best to play it for the first time with someone who has already played there. My favorite thing about the course is a beautiful creek that seems to run through at least a third of the course. Driving accuracy is key here, but bigger hitters may need to leave driver in the bag on some holes.

Played On 07/10/2022Don't let the Yardage Fool You
This is a great old course with a beautiful stream that runs through what seems like more than half the course. There are some blind spots due to elevation changes and dog legs, so it may be best to play with someone who has played their prior to you. The course plays longer than the yardage because many of the holes play dead uphill. I would not recommend walking it because of the hills and the course layout. Fun course with lots of history.
Downingtown Country Club
Played On 07/05/2022Fun layout with some tricky greens
Undulating greens are the course's best protection of par. Conditions were excellent and most fairways were generous. Pace of play was not an issue. Only quirk is you play 11 holes before the snack bar and restrooms.
Jack Frost National Golf Course
Played On 06/29/2022Great course with generous fairways
I was in the first group out for the day and while we didn't have anyone in front of us, I never saw the group behind us once we left the first tee. Each hole is separate enough that I really felt like we were the only group on the course.
I loved the golf architecture which was picturesque, but due to the generous fairways only really bad tee shots were penalized.
The staff could not have been friendlier. I don't think I could have enjoyed my round any more than I did.

Played On 04/30/2022Fast Greens and Good Architecture
Greens had been punched and rolled this week so they were fast but the holes did not allow balls to stay on line. A tough combination, but I know it is only temporary. Pace of play issues were partner and green related as opposed to course management. Great course, always enjoy the challenge and the Golden Oaks experience.

Played On 04/23/2022Tight in spots but usually in good condition
Only issue I had was because there are two courses and only one starter the starter was not really managing the first tee on this course. Play was slow because we had multiple 2 player groups between 3 and 4 player groups and it seemed that no one had actually respected the 10 minute tee times so multiple times 3 groups were playing the same hole.

Played On 03/22/2022Nice course layout that is walkable
Course is always in good shape and fun to play with a very challenging 18th hole to end your day.

Turtle Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/04/2021Great walking course
Since Turtle Creek is not built around a housing development, all the tee to green distances are laid out nicely. 18th hole is a challenging par 5 that will send you home happy if you do par it.

Broad Run architecture was excellent. Some truly amazing views and elevation changes. Well worth the money we spent.

10 minute tee times make for good pace of play. Lots of elevation changes make for a good test of skills.

Played On 07/19/2020Enjoyable course that keeps greens in good shape
One of the only courses in the area that still lets you book a round as single. Fairly wide open for the most part with a few tight holes. A few challenging tee shots including an uphill 220 yard par 3, but certainly playable in every sense of the word. On the shorter side overall so driver is not required on all par 4s.
