Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 09/28/2020Excellent public course
Dobson Ranch is well maintained both on and off the course. The staff are courteous and the course is enjoyable to play. You won't lose many balls here but if you stray from the fairway it can cost you a shot. The starter did a great job ensuring that the golfers allowed the full spacing between groups teeing off and as a result the course moved very very well - far better than most public courses and it was busy! I played it while my home course was closed for overseed and I would certainly play it again.
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 12/08/2019A Pete Dye challenge
Don't be fooled by the yardages on the score card - check the slope rating before choosing which tees to play.
Most greens are elevated and depending on pin positions on a number of them you could be a dozen feet from the pin on three of four sides and still not be on the green ! There is not a lot of water on the course but where there is the ponds are very strategically placed! Choose your club and line carefully - on a number of holes using driver will bring penalty areas into play if you choose the wrong line of flight.
Collicutt Siding Golf Course
Played On 04/21/2019Pretty good condition for April in Alberta!
This is a fun track and although it hasn’t dried out from the snow melt in many places the course was still in acceptable playing condition for this early in the season. The greens were slow but once the start cutting them the speed should be good and they should put true. The front nine is older and the greens are circles of similar size with few breaks but the back nine greens are much more what you would expect from a contemporary course. All in all it was fun, good value and I wouldn’t hesitate to play it again.
Fountain of the Sun Country Club
Played On 02/18/2016A fun course for the average or novice golfer
We were pleasantly surprised by the very good condition of the course. Both fairways and greens were in excellent condition. It is an executive course so not a championship layout but the par 3's varied in length and some we quite challenging. The par 5's (only 2) are short and not overly taxing for novices and seniors. All in all it is a fun experience for a golf outing with friends.
Championship at Moon Valley Country Club
Played On 02/11/2016A fun track in excellent condition
Visiting Moon Valley will likely become an annual event for our foursome until they stop allowing the public. Course conditions were excellent and the greens were quick and true. Unfortunately we had no trouble finding the strategically placed bunkers ! Moon Valley is a reasonable challenge without being punishing. Try it - you'll like it.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 12/31/201516 decent holes
The greens on the first two holes (especially #1) are in poor condition are give a very bad impression of the course starting off. Fortunately green conditions on the next 16 were markedly better. The first hole is roped off and no carts on the fairway slow down the pace of play right from the first tee shot and the same situation on the second hole causes further delays. Pace improved from #4 on. The staff are friendly and the marshals are courteous so over all it was a pleasant golf experience and the views from the 18th tee make a spectacular finish.
Apache Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2015A fun course for average golfers
The island green on the par 3 6th hole presents and interesting challenge for all skill levels ! The greens were in excellent shape as were the fairways and generally the course is fair to all a levels of player. The desert areas are not full of thick grasses or underbrush so you don't lose many balls but if you hit into those areas you will likely find your ball in a bush requiring an "unplayable" drop and penalty. All in all we enjoyed our round and would definitely return.
Kokopelli Golf Course
Played On 02/13/2015Still recovering from water damage
most of the holes are fair with a few like #8 that are quite challenging for an average golfer. The course suffered water damage in many areas and although a lot of repair has been done some of the rough just off the fairways still requires a lot of work.
Staff were friendly and efficient but the pace of play was brutal - the round took a full 5 hours and we waited on virtually every shot.
Ken McDonald Golf Course
Played On 02/10/2015Great value in the "high" season
Not fancy and not overly difficult but the greens were in good shape and even the bunkers were well maintained - often unusual at a "muni" ! The pace of play was very good for this type of course - we completed our round in 4 hours 5 minutes.
Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club
Played On 10/20/2013A well maintained and fun course but a little short and not a lot of challenge for low handicappers
It was a fun course to play with my wife as it was relatively short. Arrived to find that I would be charged $2 each more than the fee I booked on Golf Now and luckily we arrived early as when I checked in I was informed that we were out at 11:40 not the 11:48 time I had booked ! I showed the confirmation to the pro shop assistant and all he did was shrug !
The course was fun and in pretty good shape for early after the overseed so we enjoyed the golf.
When we returned to the clubhouse at the end of the round the staff who cleaned clubs were indifferent at best and when I asked if they could put the clubs at the bag drop they said yes but then just left them on the cart - my wife had to go back down and ask them again to bring the clubs up and although they did arrive the fellow carrying them made no secret of his displeasure - guess I didn't tip them enough !!
We're so glad you enjoy our course! Please come play 18 with us again and we appreciate you taking the time to review our course!
