Yucaipa Valley Golf Club

I live out of state but come back to So Cal often and I like the course and its layout. Enjoy most everything but the starter. Dude has a serious Napoleon Complex. Yelled at us for moving our cart to the tee box, even as it was our time to go off. Yelled, "I've got to check you in"!! I said, "alright, take it easy, it's not that big of a thing." we went back and forth about how important his job is. I just laughed at walked away. He really makes the experience leave a bad taste and needs to be told to slow his roll.
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Champions Course
Played On 10/26/2022Not what it used to be
Greens were in good shape, a little slow but it was the afternoon. The pace of play was the issue. No rangers or marshalls were monitoring the course. Had a single join our 3some at the turn and he said he had called the pro shop to send someone out and he never saw anyone. There was apar 3 that had a group on the green and two groups waiting to tee off. Was like that all day.
Yucaipa Valley Golf Club
Played On 02/20/2022Staff needs training
I have played Yucaipa numerous times and have enjoyed the course over the years.
Two things I would like addressed:
1. Range balls are in desperate need of replacement. Some were worn down so much they couldn't get airborne.
2. This classifies as a pet peeve. When I paid my greens fees with a CC, after running my card, the female cashier tossed my CC back across the counter. to me. This is very disrespectful and I am not a dog. Hand it back to me as I handed it to you.
Thank You for taking the time to review us. We take your concerns seriously and look forward to redeeming ourselves on your next visit.
Hidden Valley Golf Club
Played On 03/05/2021Punched greens and no Marshalls
I really wish golf courses would inform guests that some if not all greens are punched. Then an educated decision could be made before any money changed hands. Sadly, that was the case again here. Also, our foursome got stuck behind 4 wanna-be MMA guys that seemed drunk when they teed off 1. The lack of etiquette throughout the round was mind-numbing. They left behind beers on the tee, yacked in the middle of the fairway while we waited to hit, and finally, one idiot actually parked his cart on the green. That was enough, I called the shop and they did send someone out and had a talk with them. I know the course had little to do with these jokers but it is a review.
The Stadium Course at PGA WEST
Played On 07/05/2018Very poor conditions ASK before giving your $$ how bad the course is.
Just finished spending a week in the Palm SPringgs area for a week of vacation golf. The highlight of the trip was a round at the PGA West Stadium course.
My nephew booked the course and we were all set.
Pro shop took our cash and off we went. Not ONE word as to the condition of the course.
The range was in great condition so it looked as if it was going to be a great day.
From the first tee, it was abundantly clear that even true resort courses at HALF the price were i better condition.
The tee boxes were sandy and half were filled with brown spots.
The fairways were pocked with brown spots.
And then the greens! I never have seen so much sand spread on greens. Even the fringe and second cuts were loaded with sand.
I get the fact that all courses need to aerate and sand for primo conditioning but these greens looked like they were punched at least 3 weeks ago and should not have had this much sand.
My biggest issue was the fact that the pro shop guys said NOTHING about the course conditions.!!
Had they mentioned this at all, at the very least, I would have had a choice to withdraw and play elsewhere. But to say nothing, take the money was a real bait and switch to me.
While $99 is a relative bargain for this course, it was way overpriced for the conditions.
We paid $39 for one resort course that totally eclipsed the conditions found this day.
Never again PGA West, never again
Thank you for the recent comments on The Stadium Course at PGA WEST. We appreciate the time and effort that you put into your review - any feedback we receive from our guests is invaluable in our quest for continuous improvement. At the time you played, the course had just come out of an aerification and it generally takes ten days for the course to recover. However, the greens (and some fairways) took longer to recover because of the extreme heat and humidity we have been experiencing this summer. Aggressive summer agronomic practices are necessary to help promote healthy turf conditions - and it is not an exact science. The other courses in the valley perform aerification at various times during the summer so all courses are not in the same condition at the same time. There are also different varieties of bermudagrass at different courses (we have three different types throughout our 9 courses) and they do not all react and recover the same. We feel badly that you did not enjoy your round - that is not the way we want anyone to leave after playing PGA WEST. Please contact our General Manager, Darrin Harn at 760-564-7105 so we can learn more and invite you back to play under better circumstances.
Eagle Dunes Golf Club
Played On 12/26/2016Horrible pace of play
Played this course for the first time today. HUGE Mistake.
A 6 hour round under these very less than stellar conditions makes for a very frustrated player.Did not see ONE ranger all day.
Saw a five some on one green. One most of the holes today, there were groups on the green, one in the fairway, and at least 2 groups waiting on each tee box.
Never again.

The Club at Venetian Bay
Played On 12/05/2014One and done, will not return!
Had some extra time on business and decided to make the trip from Orlando. Wanted to try this new course and what a disappointment!
I went out as a single and was notified by the friendly starter that the course was busy. No worries, I said, the weather was good and it would give me a chance to really see all the course. I have to say, I've played faster rounds at Pebble Beach! A 5 hour round at a public somewhat short course was ridiculous! No ranger seen through 18 holes. The bunkers were horrible, barely any sand in them at all, some were filed with water and others looked as if they just ran out of sand. Thankfully, I was only in one all day. I was behind a couple of seniors that before their first shots landed in the water, or out of bounds, they were already throwing another one down to rehit!
I know singles have no rights out there, but this pace of play and with the conditions, this only guarantees I will not be coming back.
Black Bear Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2014Course made up for lacking staff
Hadn't played this course in almost 6 years. Found a great GolfNow deal and played away.
Course was fair and challenging. Greens were for the most part in great shape. Play was little slow with no marshall's at all to move things along. No beverage cart even though the temp was in the 90's.
Worst thing was the attitude from the pro shop guy. Almost acted as if he didn't care about me being there or needing my business. Zero friendliness.
Guy I got paired up with said the same thing with his interaction.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
