Took an afternoon off work on a beautiful day to play this course for the first time. When I arrived a sign was posted that the back nine was closed because they were aerating. So I only played the front nine....twice. The only problem was the front nine greens had been aerated as well and you really couldn't put on them. The course is in the middle of a farmers field. No elevation changes. I wouldn't pay full price for this course. A foursome slowed things down the second time around and wouldn't let another single player play through. A beverage cart would have been a nice touch but no such luck. Greens on front nine are basically flat and uninteresting. A boring course really.

Excellent fairway conditions on this link style course, but they aerated greens 2,3 & 4 and almost ruined them with deep grid-like gouges all across the greens. It affected your putting unfortunately...very disappointing. Otherwise the course was in great shape. The staff was very friendly and the pace of play was quick. Very little elevation changes, but tons of water on almost every hole. The play book was real handy especially when playing it the first time. Scenery had few trees, but a lot of gaudy looking homes! Club house is awesome with ballrooms for corporate events, etc. This style of course was fun to play and a nice change from many of the courses that are cut through forests in our areas and to the north. I will play it again but will wait for the GolfNow discounts.

I played the East course for the first time with a foursome this past Sunday. The elevation changes were nice, but I have never seen more stagnant water on any course in Michigan. I was also surprised how tight one hole is to the next...you almost always see players on as many as three holes while you are playing. Another surprise was the shortness of the course. You really only need to use your driver a couple times the entire 18 holes, but you better be able to hit spots and landing areas with your irons!

Lovely piece of real estate. Greens in good condition, but you are beginning to see weeds encroaching in the bunkers. Staff was very friendly and the pace of play moved pretty quickly for a Sunday afternoon. I definitely will play again with GolfNow discount but would not pay the full price for the course.

Beautiful course with white fencing and water falls. They have taken advantage of the quarry with interesting hole layouts. Wish they would get the second 9 completed. All good things take time I guess! Definitely recommend this course. Next time I play 18 I think I will play the white tees for the fist nine and the blue tees the second time around...should add to the experience.

Went on a Friday after an outing. We had the course pretty much to ourselves and really enjoyed our round. Even after an outing the course was in great shape. We were fortunate to get a reduced rate thru GolfNow otherwise the green fees can be pretty high. You need to stay below the pin on some of the greens particularly #10. When the price is right I would always play this course in the beautiful Manistee National forest.

Played the course for the first time on Sunday. The other reviewers were right....lots of blind shots. The scenery was beautiful with lots of lakes. Many elevation changes and the greens were on the small size so accurate iron shots are required. Fairways were not pristine, but the greens were in good shape. Enjoyed the round and I will be back!

We played on a Friday in June 2014. The course is immaculate with beautiful green conditions. Many greens have false fronts and can be deceiving the first time you play. The staff is super friendly and I would highly recommend this course to anyone. I have not seen a course in better condition in west Michigan and the groundskeeper deserves special recognition! The back 9 is longer than the front and there are a couple of holes within eye distance of US 31. It was fun playing a relaxing round while seeing the rest of the world scrambling to get up north for the weekend!

Yes the rough needs to be mowed a bit more, but we have had a wet spring and a tough winter. The greens are very well kept and this is a very good value for the money. I played on Memorial Day in the morning. After a fun round, we hit the Brown Bear in Shelby for a great lunch. Can't complain about a day like that!!

Played this course on a Sunday afternoon. Beautiful views with fairways in pristine condition...so much so that it was difficult on many holes to distinguish between where the fairways ended and the greens began. Very little pressure from any other golf groups. Staff was very friendly and I got a good rate on Golfnow. The GPS was real handy when playing the course for the first time. Unfortunately they had just aerated and sanded the greens for fall, but it didn't detract from the experience. Definitely one of the best courses in West Michigan. I highly recommend playing this course. And yes the fairways are extremely wet, but I'm sure it's because of the large amount of sand in the soil being close to Lake Michigan.

A scorecard with the hole layout would be handy. Friendly staff and the course was in pretty good shape. Many of the sand traps were full of water. More yardage markers needed. Otherwise, it is an interesting course with some unique holes. You at times seem isolated, but on many holes you feel like you are playing through the middle of a subdivision.

Played on a special rate. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Recent rains have helped the tee boxes which were like concrete over the summer. A couple greens had some blight but overall the course is in moderate shape. Played a round in three hours which was great. They have a couple of long par threes. One was 195 yards from the white tees! Good value for the money.

What a great course in west Michigan! The course is in great shape and I think it's even more scenic than the Thoroughbred at Double J. Can't wait to go back. Staff is very friendly and I enjoyed the round we played!

Enjoyed our round. Play move quickly. Cordial staff with a nice club house. I would recommend this course.
