The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Cottage
Played On 04/18/2017Too many walkers!
Course was in good shape, carts are a little old and worn. Biggest issue was pace of play, numerous elderly walkers most in groups of 1 or two made the round take forever. No marshals to group them or ask them to speed up play. I don't know if this is an everyday issue but if it is I sure wouldn't play there again.
The Manor Golf Club
Played On 07/08/2016Surprising find!
Great course, it was wet from several inches of rain the night before but still played well. Course was in amazing shape from tee to green. Nice layout you will need to play this course a few times because of all the blind shots. Not a bombers paradise, you will have to make some shots and play a strategic round. It makes you think which I loved. Wish it was closer, but will be back!
River's Bend Golf Club

This course has been in decline for several years, bankruptcy, new management and now in receivership. Course was in pretty bad shape 2 years ago when I played it so really wasn't expecting much. I figured well $16.00 I guess it's worth trying again. Boy was I wrong, checked in asked to hit a bucket of balls and was told they were out of balls. Just as well the hitting area was an overgrown weed patch, which pretty much set the course for the day. Fairways overgrown with weeds, the rough hadn't been cut in weeks I'm guessing. God help you if your ball rolled out of the fairway because you couldn't find it. You needed a hammer to get the tee in the ground on the tee boxes, and you could find smoother greens on the surface of the moon. A couple of the tee boxes you had about 5 feet to hit your ball through because of the overgrown trees. NEVER Returning and wish I could have my money back because I really didn't enjoy it.
The Royal Virginian Golf Course
Played On 06/08/2014Needs work
The course layout is nice, the greens were in decent shape but the bunkers were dirt & rocks. Fairways were in poor shape as well as the tee boxes. You almost needed a hammer to get the tee's in the ground. I think the new owners are trying and hopefully the course will come around.
Mill Quarter Plantation Country Club
Played On 4/3/2013Potential
This course has potential. It's a nice layout, challenging, and is in a natural surrounding. The course itself though is in horrible shape. Tee boxes are so beat up it's hard to find a level stance, fairways are over run by crabgrass, bunkers are mud pits that haven't seen a rake in years. It appears like the owners have just given up on maintaining the course at all. Too bad because this could be one of the nicer courses in VA with a little TLC. Until that happens I wold recommend not wasting your time or money playing here.
