The Links at Lakehouse
Played On 10/13/2021Nice layout, spotty condition
I play this course fairly regularly as it's a convenient distance from my house and central for my playing partners.
The greens are generally in very good shape, however, the bunkers have almost no sand and many fairways and tee boxes have been in need of repair for what seems like years. The same patches of fairway are ALWAYS is poor shape, and the course superintendent never seems to make repairs.
The same goes for the drainage. Even if there is a lack of rain, the same areas of the course are always muddy.
It's an enjoyable course to walk. The restaurant and pro shop are above average. Greens fees have gone up during COVID, but the extra money hasn't seemed to find its way into fairway and bunker maintenance.
Pala Mesa Resort
Played On 11/04/2020Fast greens, tight fairways.
We played Pala Mesa on a gorgeous November day. Weather conditions were perfect, but many fairways, particularly on the front nine were not. There were so many painted "ground under repair" areas that we thought the fairways must have been a crime scene of recent battle skirmishes! The greens were very fast and in excellent shape. They held the ball well on shots to the green.
Fairways are very tight with "out of bounds" markers or trouble very close. Accuracy in driving is a must. There are many fairway and green side bunkers and all are in excellent shape.
The course layout is very enjoyable. Holes are very diverse. The front nine is a little flatter than the more hilly back nine. The combination makes for a fun, scenic and challenging day. Not an easy track, but certainly worth your time.
The Vineyard at Escondido
Played On 02/02/2017Nice course, slow play
I've played this course twice. My group enjoyed the layout and conditions and fair price, but start times were at least 10 -20 minutes behind and pace of play is extremely slow. Both rounds took 5 hours! I love being on the golf course, but not this long. It would be somewhat understandable if you playing a highly tourist PGA-stop course like Pebble Beach, but for a city course, it's way too slow.
Thank you for visiting us at Pala Mesa Resort. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
