A Longtime Favorite

We've stayed on Saint Simons Island for many years and join a local Brunswick club for the time we're here. But, we always try to take a day to play Sapelo Hammock as well. While the greens at this time of year aren't always pristine, the course is set in the marshes and includes a number of holes where the marsh truly challenges one's skills (or lack of same). A very nice layout with friendly staff.

Marsh Holes aeal Treat

While the greens at K&P had been recently aerated, they were generally quite good for putting. The course layout is quite exceptional, particularly the five holes on the island out in the marsh area (which on their own are worth the price of admission).

An Annual Favorite

My wife and I try to play Sapelo during our one-month stay on Saint Simons Island and have always enjoyed its layout in the marsh areas of Georgia's south-east coast. We found the greens this time to be a bit on the slow side but, overall, the course to be in pretty good condition for this time of the year. We were a twosome behind a foursome of mixed walkers and riders (who moved at a good pace, I must say) but who also courteously allowed us to play through at nine. From there on, it was completely smooth sailing and the continuation of a very pleasant day. As for the management, this year the club is offering free range balls for a warm-up, something I think is a very nice addition to its service. We'll be back in 2023.

Pleasant Experience

We holiday on Saint Simons Island every year, golf almost every day and always make it a point to play a few of our rounds at LSW. The course is well laid out, generally not overly busy and not without its challenges. For this round, we were a twosome following a foursome but the pace of play was still very good ... just over 3 1/2 hours for 18. The course is in quite good shape for this time of year and the greens have improved significantly over how they were a couple of years ago. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Enjoyable Course

We've played LIL at this time of year for the past decade and always enjoy the experience. While there was a men's group of 20+ who teed off just before us -- and we were a twosome -- we found the pace of play to be quite good and finished our round in about 3 1/2 hours. As others have noted, fairways and greens are still 'greening up', although given the mild winter things are more advanced than usual for this early in the year. Excellent value and good fun.

Great Layout

Sapelo provides a good mix offairly easy holes as well as some challenging ones (for me at least) -- particularly the two 'over the marsh' par 3s that are essentially the same as hitting to an island green. A mild winter has left the course in good condition for this time of the year. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Excellent for March

We've played Trident Lakes often when we've been in this area on holidays and have always enjoyed it. This year, perhaps because of the mild winter, the course was in better shape than in any year we can remember. The greens were in particularly good condition, although a bit too slow for our liking. Overall, a good and relatively inexpensive experience.

Enjoyable Day

I've played Manderly a number of times before but seldom in mid-summer (since I'm a member at another course). We found the greens to be in very good condition and the fairways to be reasonable, particularly considering the hot weather over the past month. We played 18 in about 3 1/2 hours. Staff were all very friendly making this a positive experience.

Always a Pleasure

While Perth is a bit of drive from Ottawa East, we try to play Links O'Tay at least once a year. Billed as the oldest golf course in Canada, the course features two quite different experiences between the original front nine and the newer back. This year, the course is in particularly good condition so it's well worth a visit.

A Great Day of Golf

My wife and I plus our adult daughter played on Sunday, our daughter's last round before flying home. We had a wonderful day at Jekyll. The courses are in great shape this year and the weather was bright and sunny (albeit somewhat chilly when not sheltered from a fairly strong NE wind). Pace of play was excellent but we still had time to enjoy the sights: alligators, turtles, birds, deer etc. We finished the day with a glass of wine in the sun on the deck of the Jekyll Island Club hotel (about a mile away but worth the visit). Overall, a superb day of golf!

Another Pleasant Round

We have played Laurel Island numerous times over the past decade and have always enjoyed it. The layout is eye-pleasing and challenging and each of the holes quite unique. The greens were in excellent condition this year as were the fairways and tee-boxes. Laurel Island has a very good range and practice green, making it a first-class facility in every way. Well worth the visit.

Great Course

Sanctuary Cove is a very well designed and well maintained course. The greens (except for one or two) were in very good condition, particularly considering the time of year. Very good value overall.

A Long-Time Favorite

LSW is a very nice golf course, one we always visit once a week during our holidays at Saint Simons Island ... despite the drive, which is just more than an hour. Not only is the price right, one is invariably guaranteed a pleasant experience: a well-designed and maintained course, good service and a relatively fast pace-of-play. A 'keeper'.

Challenging Layout

Heritage Oak (formerly Oak Grove) is a very pleasant course that has undergone a lot of upgrades over the 10+ years we've played it. It features a fair amount of water and other areas surrounded by marsh grasses, so an errant shot is likely to result in a lost ball and added strokes. The day we played it, the weather was superb making it a very pleasant experience.

Challenging practice facility

This is a par-3 course that has a lot of water, marshland and sand bunkers. While not long, it offers a good test of one's iron shots, chipping and putting. The bunkers, in particular, are better than most in this part of Ontario, featuring the kind of soft white sand more often found on resort courses in the south. Not the kind of course I would want to play often but certainly well worth an hour and a half once in a while.

Great location

Nation is a very pleasant course with some great holes, particularly on the back nine. The front nine greens had recently been aerated so were not in the best of condition. Nevertheless, we had a very enjoyable day.

First Time Playing

Two very nice courses.

I have now played both the South and West courses at Summerheights and enjoyed them both. Lots of trees so there's shade to be found on a hot summer day as well as challenges for any errant shots. The greens were in good shape and quite soft so high approach shots stopped immediately and even backed up. Overall, an enjoyable experience and very good value.
