Rentals killed the round

Nice course, generally in good shape. Interesting layout. Great wildlife - gators, herons, etc.

Pace of play was slow all day. Practice facility is passable. Food was not good, but the car service was good. The Bunkers are atrocious. Barely any sand. Car paths are in bad shape in may areas. Carts are fine.

But the kicker was the rental clubs. We traveled in from out of state and I was promised 3 sets of brand name clubs on the phone. I don’t need them to be state-of-the art clubs, but what we got were the lost-and-found clubs. Not a single matching club in 2 of the 3 sets. Two 5-irons in one set. Several missing clubs. All were very old and very used. A different grip on every club and some grips so bad they were unplayable. Not even a cheap sleeve of balls included. The bad clubs definitely affected our round and is the reason I would not recommend this course. For $120/round with rentals I expect more.

Challenging

We teed off 25 minutes late. Due to an overbooking issue there were three extra groups ahead of us. I thought this was going to be a problem but the pace of play turned out fine. There were several Marshalls on the course keeping things going. The place is well managed.

Course was in good shape, very challenging layout, lots of tee balls over a canyon, tons of elevation change. Very scenic. Amenities are very nice, clubhouse, restaurant, carts with GPS, friendly staff, Good practice facility.

$100 green fee is pricey but worth it in my opinion for a course of this caliber. What I did not like was the cost of concessions. $8 for a can of beer, and $1 for a glass of ice water. I don't think I've ever had to pay for water or ice on a course anywhere. For $100 most other places include at least a small bucket of range balls. Not here though.

Overall a good experience and I would play here again.
