Solid layout for short players

Every hole was basically the same for a player that hits it above average distance. Tee boxes could use some work. Greens were great.

DO NOT PAY TO PLAY!

Again, DO NOT PAY TO PLAY!!!! The only way anyone should play this course right now is for free!

The clubhouse man was on the phone on arrival and didn’t even acknowledge that after. Range balls were rusty. Tee time was 2:04, I teed off at 2:42. They didn’t have enough carts and were sending pairings out as carts came in (at least they partially cleaned them). I asked if I could walk with a twosome, and was told to go ask the inside. They told me no walking is allowed to ensure pace of play is maintained. I was sent out alone and had to let the twosome behind me join on the 3rd hole (older couple and wife just started playing, not quick). The round took just under 4.5 hours, which was better than I was expecting...

As posted below, the course is DEAD!!!!! There was maybe 1 acceptable tee box and NO acceptable greens!! I did not have to repair a ball mark the entire round, to show how hard the greens are. I landed a 115yd approach in about a yard on the front and rolled about 29yd more off the back. I don’t know what the speed would be rated, but definitely higher than 12. I feel like it is probably comparable to Shinnecock Hills at the 2018 US Open, nobody not even the fans were happy with that!

I would say they need to fire the Head Groundskeeper and shut the course down and pray to the good lord that it recovers, but they are past that. They are going to have to do another complete renovation. Seriously the biggest waste of $40 (sad to say I wasted $40).

No value

Course was a pretty simple layout with the greens being the best part of the round. Greens were possibly in the best condition of any TB course I’ve played in the last 7 years. Outside of the greens the course is extremely overpriced for the number of elderly golfers roaming every hole killing pace of play.

Friendly but tough

For the most part, open fairways with only a few guided tee box shots from the tips. Consistent greens with tons of water and bunkers. In my opinion the best course I’ve played in the TB area.

Tight tee boxes Open layout

Front 9 was fun, very guided off the tee box for specific shots. Back 9 was very open and could as you pleased. Course was fun overall. Could use some more water as I had to hit a stinger and the realized I got about 25-30yd extra roll than normal in Florida. After that I was playing almost everything low for some extra yardage. Greens were nice.

Mini swamp

The course was basically a swamp, they should have closed the course and air raid it instead of charging the lowest fare they could get. Would have much rather not played then having to wash my clubs after every stroke. If you can drive it over 225 you only need 5 clubs. Greens weren’t great either. I was on a tee-box and maintenance was digging behind the tee-box and did not stop for me. Course might be worth it in dry conditions, but I’d say go elsewhere if possible.

Everything a player could ask for

Course was in great shape for Mid-January. Course had 200+ par 3’s, dog leg lefts forcing you to play a draw on a 3 wood, dog leg rights forcing you to skirt tree lines, elevated greens, and more. As of now my favorite course in Houston, minus the renovations still being done from Harvey (no bar or drink cart).

No real trouble

Condition was great, Starter was great (let me skip ahead 2 groups to play solo instead of paired with high handicap members), no real trouble for the lay out, only 1 200+yd par 3. Overall a relaxing round, but I’d rather play the lakes course.

Don’t be off the fringe

Course was in pretty good shape other than every hole I missed short or around the green was basically like playing out of the sand. Greens were fast (I’m no pro, but would say a 12 and a partner agreed). Pin placement was challenging on most holes as well. Overall a good to great course I’d love to play in normal Houston spring/summer conditions, instead of December.

Members Only

Course was in BEAUTIFUL condition, though greens will be perfect in 2-3 weeks. Cart party only, per usual for PHX this time on year. Pace was good and marshalls were available to ensure. Obviously a Dye course and in my opinion harder than Karsten. You either have to be a mentally stable golfer or a course member to play solid. Burger at the clubhouse might be the tastiest burger ever.

Starter doesn't know

Booked a 6:45am tee time as I had to be in Scottsdale for an 11:30 lunch. Starter wanted two "friends of the course" to play alone at their request. Instead of allowing me to go ahead and fly through the course (6:45 was the first tee), the starter had me wait until 7:09am to play with two seniors and behind a 4-some. Course was in GREAT condition other than rather slow greens.

Good-Okay condition after overseeing

Cart path only due to still allowing to grow. Course was in good enough shape. Course layout was accurate for the rating. Shack at the turn only had ham and turkey sandwiches at 8:30am. I had my bag ready to go and didn't ask for my clubs cleaned and pulled my bag myself and heard a cart guy ask if I tipped and then say "cheap."
