Zellwood Station & Country Club
Played On 02/27/2017Average course. Above average people.
Our twosome (so so players) played yesterday both for the first time there, and we were paired with a single (Walter - a friendly, above average player who knew the course very well). We were right behind a foursome with one lady who seemed to be new to the game. That could have been a recipe for pace of play disaster, but without a word from us, the ranger/starter went over after they teed off and had a quiet conversation with that group. They obviously made a conserted effort to keep things going and pace wasn't a problem all day.
Considerate players, considerate staff. Nice.
The course itself was not in that good a shape, but not bad.
The layout includes a few holes with totally blind "over a hill" tee shots. And there are a couple flagpoles designed to keep you safe by you raising and then lowering a white flag while you're in tee shot range of the group behind you. Of course, no one uses the flags so they are actually, in my opinion, a detriment to safety.
The greens were in better shape than the rest of the course and had their share of slope.
Our tee time was late morning - we had a discounted price - and I would say, overall the value was above average.
Restaurant was closed (Monday's), so can't comment much on amenities.
Hope your experience goes as well.
