Cheekwood Golf Club

This course is a wonderful place to WALK. Now to ride in a cart without a hot deal is a waste of money. $50 to play 18 with cart on a par 33 course is out of line. Saying this, I do feel that we need a place like this for beginners and schools or private events. Women would enjoy this course tremendously. The length is perfect for juniors or women. If you would like to walk this course, then it is an easy walk. Flat throughout. Enjoy the walk and a day with friends, but do not waste your money on riding a cart. You will feel like you got a bad deal unless you use the hot deal. I am an ex class A golf pro.
Meadowbrook Park Golf Course
Played On 10/02/2015Incredible Improvements
I have played there for over 30 years. I had moved a few years ago out of state. I came back to play and the greens were the best I have seen them in 30 years! I was impressed. They built a pond so water is more accessible during the hot months. Basically unlimited water supply from a spring underneath the ground. Pond is very nice and a great visual improvement to the course. Actually comes into play if you go over the green on 9 now. Greens are very thick Bermuda. They are slow but extremely healthy. You will be impressed if you had played here before 2014 compared to now. If you want to play a quick 9 or 18 for one low price and you are a higher handicap player, then I think you will really enjoy walking through the course. Hint....play the hills into the green. Bump and run is the best play.

I booked a tee time on golfnow. I drive 45 min to course from Hermitage. When I got there, the front nine is closed!! The city is building a huge sewer line through the course on the front nine. They have been dynamiting the place to dig a 20 foot trench. It is not their fault. It is a city fault. However, that being said, they should list that the course is under construction on golf now. No warning at all. You have to play the back 9 twice. And oh, the range is closed so you do not get a bucket of balls with your purchase through golf now like it says. Very loud due to construction. Since course has sold to this group things have gone down hill some there. The course design is one of the best in Nashville. I do love the course. I just wish or I think it is proper to let public know that course is under construction on golf now. On top of that, they punched the greens recently and greens are not in good shape right now. The cups in the holes are lined with plastic just below the cut of the hole. It lips out often. Not sure what the heck they are thinking with that. There is no dirt around cup to grab your ball due to the plastic lining. Not a fan. Change it back for god sake. I am a golf coach and have played for 35 years. Probably will be better in a month. My recommendation is to wait until at least May to play. Greens will be better and construction will be gone. Oh, eat before you go. They have a grill but is was not open today on a Saturday.......really? I had to eat a hot dog and chips. The hostess was working kitchen too so I have no idea why she wouldn't fix me a burger. Seems like they do not want to take care of customers.
Twelve Stones Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2012Best layout of any Nashville area course.
Let me start by saying this is the best overall challenge of a course for most any golfer. I have played for 32 years. Solid modern style course lined with beautiful homes. The clubhouse staff is very nice. The facility itself is perfect for any type of a meeting or gathering that is warm and inviting. This place was built around a 200 year old log cabin. The old rooms are amazing! The course has gone through some bad times as some have with the economy. This course has improved in a matter of 2 months. The greens are coming back with proper maintenance. The bunkers still need to be redone. They have a master plan in place to remove a large portion of them soon. They lost some during the floods and previous owners neglected them. I know bunkers are a huge issue for some players. Most bunkers are not playable. I feel that if we continue to support the course by playing, then the funding will be there to improve the course slowly over the next few years. If you haven't played it yet then do so!! Don't judge this book by its cover. The views are amazing with elevated tees. The last four holes are beautiful. This course reminds me of playing in Ohio with all the hills. Tee boxes and fairways are just fine. Greens are healing nicely and very quickly now. Give this course a chance but be patient. You will fall in love with this place if you are a true golfer.
