Preserve Golf Course
Played On 10/22/2017space shuttle
Almost no one on the course. We played in just over 3 hours! I found the greens hard to read and pretty slow but the ball was landing softly and you needed to judge your carry well. Would have liked yardage stakes to help me pick the right clubs to carry across the fairly wide fairways [cartpath only today] Sandtraps needed some raking to soften them up. The par 5s were challenging and the par 3s pretty simple. from the gold tees. I was amazed at how many more homes had been built among the hole, but the views of the mountains are still spectacular. There is a supershort [270 yard] par 4 that would be more challenging with the addition of a greenside bunker at the front of the green, I think.Don't knowifit was me or the course design but I found myself using my 4 iron far more often than is normal. Surprised to not see a drinks cart on a Sunday afternoon!.
Quarry Pines Golf Club

Played the course in 3 1/2 hours. While I loved the course back when it was a semi-links, I found the quarry holes both interesting and challenging, I don;\'t think that #1 should be the #1 handicap hole, though: #16 was more of a challenge for me. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Pre-game practice facilities as good as it gets.
Haven at Haven Public Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2017fast play sloow course.
Fairly flat course with a few doglegs. Water not really a factor when you know it's there. fairways and greens were as slow as I've ever played on. What would be a 240 yard drive on most courses barely made 200 t=yards on this one.
Signage needed to direct newcomers to the course. In I parked beside a golf cart in the parking lot ;;and wandered around for 15 minutes trying to find the pro shop -- which was hidden behind some tennis courts a few hundred yards to the rear of the front lot.
Davis-Monthan AFB General William Blanchard Course
Played On 10/10/2017unplayable for non residents.
When I arrived at the gates at 08:50, I was told that I would haveto wait until 09:30 for an escort. When the escort from the golf club arrived, we were informed that I could not enter the base unless the escort guarante. Truly disappointing!!.
Mayfield Golf Club - Blue
Played On 08/28/2017reasonable value
I've played the course in 3 1/2 hours but it took us 5 1/2 yesterday. The white course has the best 3 holes on the course: 16, 17 and 18 reward good shots -- punish poor shots. The course is in excellent condition and is easy to walk. Carts, as is the case everywhere in the GTA are overpriced. Since there is no driving range, I would have liked to see a driving net set up to allow golfers to warm up before starting.
Fred Enke Golf Course
Played On 04/21/2016best bang for the buck
the course is the best muni I have played in Tucson and the price was right. I would pick this one far more often if it were a little closer to where I stayed.
I found the staff to be friendly, but not really forthcoming and I saw the cart girl just once. The cafe/bar was closed when I finished my round at 4:05, alas.
SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/18/2016A real desert challenge.
This has been my favourite course in the Tucson area for the past 15 years. Like most courses here, houses are popping up daily, but it is still a really enjoyable round. No cart girls, though!
Most of the fairways are inviting and generous, but you need to place your ball well to have a makeable second shot, Easy to turn a 4 into 6 or 7 if you are note careful, and you'd better have your A-game on the par 3s if you play Gold or Black. Greens are well contoured and generous and the traps, both on the fairways and around the greens are strategically placed. Like most courses in the Tucson area, however, the sand quality is fair to poor, so, if you find a trap, you will have difficulty saving par.

a very challenging desert course. Don't play the back tees if you have less than 220 carry. you need to pick your landing areas carefully on all but a few holes. Both my son and I rate this as our favourite course in the tucson area.
Sewailo Golf Club
Played On 11/24/2014this is a jewel in the desert. Pllace your shots carefully.
I loved the course. Listen to the reception staff and their advice re the first hole. If you pick the right set of tee boxes, every hole will be a test of your golfing skills. The water on the course threatens to steal both your balls and your heart. Imaginatively integrated, the river/pond system adds to both the challenge of the course and the aesthetic appeal of this resort/desert layout. As the staff told us before we teed off, you need to play the course a few times to really figure out the best way to play it. And even then, pin placement and wind direction can throw all your pre-round planning. If I could afford it, I'd play it every day.
