Georgia Veterans Memorial Golf Course at Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club
Played On 07/20/2014Southern Charm
Fairly wide in spots, I found bunkers more than preferred (wisely placed). Greens & Fairways in top shape -keep it inside 1st cut all the way around. Natural setting w/tall grasses & moderate rough will loose a few balls if not eagle-eyed. It had rained well overnight & bunkers had pooled water. Overall, very enjoyable, easy going course. My 2nd trip, I hope to bring golfing buddies soon. It is South Georgia -bring some bug repellant.
Steel Canyon Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2014Not for walkers
Greens in good shape, tee boxes not so much. Course winding, difficult to follow. Couple or 3 more plays & I'll be moving on.
Nature Walk Golf Club
Played On 04/22/2014Good People
Checked in & sweet lady kicked a discount for cash paid. Carts on trust/honor system. Real laid back play. Good times!!
The Hooch Golf Club
Played On 04/04/2014Early still
Greens still recovering from a aeration & sanding. Tee boxes need some TLC. It will take a bit however; for the early bird Spl, the Hooch is my choice. Come full Summer , it'll be fine!
Hampton Golf Village
Played On 11/22/2013Good 'Ol Golf Course
Wet conditions made for some challenging play. Uphill fairway drives were most frustrating. Greens were smooth, fast, with difficult breaks requiring a thorough read or extra room on the scorecard. I've played here when it has been dry --admittedly, those outings were more relaxing and fun.
Bay Dunes Golf Club
Played On 11/16/2013Great course, tough play.
Bit narrow, you will need the golf gods help if you get caught under a tree off the fairway. Ditto if in the deep rough --ball will all but disappear.
Legacy Golf Club
Played On 11/8/2013Speedy play
Wonderful course with good mix of wide & narrow fairways, pin placement, bunkers. Had a blast of a time. Good shots can be great for the "control freak". Greens are fast & flat for the most part. Break-reading required at the Master-level; the ball will slip to the side if speed not just right. I'll be back!!
Bay Point Resort - Meadows Course
Played On 11/8/2013Great fundamental workout!
40yr old greens didn't look a day over 5yrs! Everything stuck where struck -great for the master chipman. Long fairways & great balance of sand and water hazards. Forgiving course but not easy if not on your game. Deep rough hides errant shots making ball sighting for the eagle eyed players only. Had great fun!!
Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
Played On 11/3/2013SHAzamm! What golf!
3 9-hole courses with unique characteristics of each. Elevation changes, radical doglegs, great risk-reward holes. Carts were strong on the hills, staff tremendous --we were directed to the Mill when play backed up in waning daylight; we were 1 of 3 foursomes on the whole 9! Schweet! Cannot WAIT to go back!
Bay Point Resort - Nicklaus Course
Played On 10/3/2013Workout!
Tremendously beautiful & challenging course! Great layout, dazzling combo of sand and water on nearly every hole. Long! So bring your A game. Can't wait for my return trip to do this AGAIN!
Peachtree Golf Center
Played On 9/22/2013Great to walk, work short irons
18-hole Par 3 walking course w/ground bunkers & water (not a tree in your way anywhere). High cut on the fairway grass & all around, so keep an eye on where the ball missed the green on errant shots. Greens are in pretty bad shape -this is not a putting course, but in fairness, they've been aerated recently like most greens around Atlanta this time of year. 2hrs 10mins at leisurely pace; no waiting on the next tee; range has both mats & grass hitting areas. It's a regular of mine to quickly groove in what's wrong with my short sticks.
Chateau Elan Golf Club - Executive Par-3 Course
Played On 9/15/2013Unexpected pleasure
Need a quick 9, par-3 short iron workout? This is the place! #9 is a doozy over water & the other 8 are really nice shots when working the short sticks.
Sugar Hill Golf Club
Played On 8/30/2013Good but needs aren't met
Marshaling needs to be tightened up; lots of waiting on slower players (more than the expected norm, much more). Greens were inconsistent, very sandy w/casual water on much of the back 9. Overall, with the elevation changes -a challenging, narrow course. Keeping it in the middle is crucial. First fairway cut would bury a ball & if you were not an eagle-eyed player, it'd be lost. I'll be back if only to see if the pace-of-play was a fluke.
