#4 a close second to #2.

#4 might be my next favorite course from #2. My father and I went on a bucket list trip for Father's Day.The course provides a variety of shots along with the course being playable for the resort guest. The course is littered with pot bunkers up the fairways, which can be tricky to get out of. Greens played slower than the other courses we played on our trip. The Par 5s are gettable and the Par 3s for the most part were downhill shots. The first and third holes are really the only holes where you can not see the green off the tee.

At the end of the day I felt the course was a fair test of golf.

Walked

The crown jewel

The third course of our Father's Day trip did not disappoint.

We showed up 90 min before our tee time to walk the halls and soak in the history of #2. We met our caddie (Kevin) in the basement who took our bags up to the range. Kevin grabbed a couple bags of balls and got us all set up on the range. Kevin cleaned the clubs when done on the range, exacatly what you expect from a caddie. Kevin took the time to know us and our game. Kevin then took us over to the #2 chipping green, which mimics #2 greens, which are different than the main putting green.

The course is an easy walk (its cart path only), suggest taking a walking caddie.

The course is a resort course and is playable (ie not a US Open setup).

Be in the fairway, the fairways are waste lined with Donald Ross's wiregrass, which if you have never have hit out of, its slows the club down.

Pin seeking is not a good idea, you will get the full Ross experience otherwise. The greens are fast and pending where you hit the ball on the turtleback, will be rejected. Good stat to keep track of, greens hit, ball rejected.

Good photo opportunity is on the 18th tee box at the tips/ get in the 16th fairway and look up 18.

Be sure to get your photo next to Payne after the round and have a drink on the patio.

#6 leaves something to be desired

This was our second round of the Father's day trip, i had food poisoning from the night before (beware of the aleing golfer). We had asked for a caddie but a buddies trip asked for a handful of caddies so ours went for a walk with them. the starter was non existent at the tee box. We sat at the chipping area and he had mentioned that there was a couple groups in front of us, and after that he disappeared.

#6 reminds me of Spyglass, The course has a nice change of elevation and dogleg tee shots.

We played right before the course was closing to change the greens out.

With the timing of the course being built, there are quite a few houses that surround the golf course, which I did not enjoy.

One nice thing about the Pinehurst golf courses is the bunkers are all same from a sand depth perspective.

#8 is similar to #6

This was the first round of golf on our Father's day trip. The greens next to #2 were the best of the trip. #8 has no hoses around it which makes its nice and isolated.

We had a forecaddie for this round, who set the bar fairly low for expectations of the caddies at Pinehurst, luckily our caddie on #2 revived that.

This course is fairly similar to #6 from a design perspective, minus the pot bunkers, rather large fairway bunkers exist. No holes really stand out in my head. and this would rank 3rd on the trip.,
