Stoneybrook Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2023Solid Course With a Good Deal of Water
This is a solid FL course with a good deal of water. Fairways and greens are in good condition. Greens on the speedier side. Staff very nice.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 06/10/2023Perfectly Nice
This is a perfectly nice South Carolina/North Florida type of course. Unfortunately, it was recently aerated with heavy sand. But that’s a point in time issue and GN fairly warned. (It seems like all area courses aerate around this same time.) There’s water but a lot of room to avoid it on most holes—not overly tight. A couple of interesting holes out toward the marshes, including target landing areas to avoid. Rates more reasonable than HHI courses for similar experience.

Played On 08/06/2021Great Round
Our first time playing. Course/greens in great shape. A little more forgiving than many area courses.
Mohansic Golf Course
Played On 09/07/2020Really Nice County Course
This is my favorite of the Westchester County courses. It’s an interesting layout with different holes—not a bunch of back-and-forth holes shoehorned into a rectangle. The first time you play it, you will not like how many blind tee shots there are. If you play it often, it won’t faze you. It’s in pretty good condition for a county course that gets a lot of play and where some folks don’t repair marks. A few of the greens have a lot of tilt and are no fun in early spring and late fall.
Thank you for your review, Mcfreedy. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Mohansic Golf Course. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Mohansic Golf Course
Played On 05/19/2019Solid Track, Favorite of County Courses
We play here regularly. It is my favorite of the Westchester County courses and a pretty solid track, in its own right. It gets a lot of play but they manage to keep it in pretty good condition. A couple of the greens are pretty sloped and difficult, if that bothers you. A few tough holes. Some blind second shots can annoy first-time players.
Hi Mcfreedy. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back!
Crooked Cat at Orange County National
Played On 03/20/2017Most Enjoyable of the Courses We Played on a Golf Weekend
This was the most enjoyable of the three courses we played last weekend in Orlando. It is a great layout--far from easy but also not ridiculously penal for teens handicappers. It was also in the best condition of the three courses we played. Great condition--tee boxes, fairways and especially greens. Really good greens (for a public course where cretins fail to fix ball marks).
ChampionsGate Golf Club - International
Played On 03/18/2017Very Nice Course. Greens a Bit Firm.
This is a great course. Very nice layout. Challenging. The greens were redone and are extremely firm, which makes the course even more difficult.
Mohansic Golf Course
Played On 07/04/2016Favorite Westchester County Course
Mohansic is my favorite Westchester County course. It is nice to see the county courses on GolfNow.
It is a fairly "classic"-type course with a nice variation of holes and no "tricked-up" plays (like Hudson Hills). Water only on one hole but you have to drive the ball well to score well here. A couple of the greens have a lot of slope and are pretty penal before they grow in around May.
The course seems to be in better shape each year recently. And many regulars are remarking that both greens and fairways are about as nice as they can remember. The greens are not fast because, as a public course, they see a lot of rounds and cretins that don't repair marks. But they are about as nice as you can get, given that constraint.
Thank you for your review! We are proud to be considered your favorite course in Westchester County. Hope to see you for your next round soon!
Omni Amelia Island Resort - Ocean Links
Played On 08/24/2014Nice, Playable FL Resort with some Great Oceanside Holes
This is a nice, FL resort course with a few pretty Oceanside holes.
Despite the name, the course is not really links style, so don't come with that in mind. 5/18 holes are Oceanside but three of those are par-3s. The other 13 holes have plenty of trees and water if your tee shots are errant. But the course is neither tight nor long and the greens are in good shape and not crazily contoured, so if you are playing well, you can score decently.
The carts do not have GPS/yardage, so if you like to have precise information to greens and hazards, bring a rangefinder or GPS.
Worth playing but don't expect Kiawah.
Omni Amelia Island Resort - Oak Marsh
Played On 08/19/2014Nice resort course. Some cool marsh-side holes.
This is a nice, Florida, resort-style course. Pete Dye must have designed it before his diabolical period because it is not too long and it is pretty playable.
The course does have a lot of trees, so you can't be as wild off the tee as you can in some FL courses.
The course was in good shape with the exception of some recently resodded areas (which will be nice for future folders when they grow in).
Carts do not have GPS, although sprinkler-heads are marked. If you require precise distances, bring a rangefinder or GPS.
Thanks for the 4 stars. We think Old South is a great value and we hope you get to play again when conditions are optimal.
