Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 11/02/2017Quality
I really enjoyed this course. The layout was challenging and picturesque, living up to its name with 'rivers of pines' alongside every fairway. However, even when among the trees, there was usually a shot out so they weren't ridiculously punishing (which keeps play moving). Some of the tee boxes were a little worn but that's inevitable on a popular course. Greens were reasonably quick and true, with some subtle borrows and fairways were good. Would definitely play again when we return to the area.
Providence Golf Club
Played On 11/01/2017Two very different 9's
Course was in decent condition, layout had a number of challenges, particularly the front nine with its meandering route through fairway-side properties. Back nine was very different but, given a few years, will probably have properties alongside as well. Currently no properties but a new road is being constructed. Greens were quite slick and true. Choose your tee colour for the level of challenge you want. Would definitely visit again.
North Shore Golf Course
Played On 10/30/2017Well worth a visit
The course had been recommended to me by a friend in UK; it was in good condition generally (except some of the tees were a bit worn), the greens were reasonably quick and true and the layout was challenging. I'm glad we followed my friend's advice - excellent value for money and would definitely visit again when we come golfing in Orlando in future.
Ventura Country Club
Played On 10/27/2017This is one of our favourite courses in Orlando area and this is our fourth visit. Great value, super friendly staff, challenging layout, good greens, best carts we've ever driven! Carts were confined to paths due to overseeding and sprinklers firing intermittently but we managed to stay dry - just! We come 'across the pond' every year about this time - we are considering renting a property here for 3 months next year!
Will definitely return.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 10/26/2017Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 10/25/2017Fourth time of playing this course. We visit Orlando once a year and always play this. Fairways are wide and forgiving, greens are slick and true; layout is interesting and approach shots are often challenging. Pace of play was good (4 hrs for 4-ball). Golf carts are "well used" petrol ones and can be rather noisy (ours had a slipping belt of some kind that screeched before engaging the drive). Definitely worth a visit and good value for money.
Highlands Reserve Golf Club
Played On 10/23/2015Overseeing Issues
Admittedly we didn't pay much per person (<$30), the condition of the greens completely spoiled the day. The fairways were out of bounds to golf carts, their edges being marked by flags. It seemed to us that the overseeding had been done on the fairways as well as the greens; we were told that they hadn't been cut for two weeks. The greens looked as if they hadn't been cut for about three days and all putts had to be struck extremely firmly; if the putt was greater than 10ft, a 2-putt became a challenge as they were so variable in speed that some putts went well by and others finished woefully short. The Course layout was good, with a variety of holes. I guess you get what you pay for but we felt we should have been told about the condition prior to booking, as this was our last round before returning to the UK's winter!
10 & 19 at University Park Country Club
Played On 10/15/2015Good variety
Tees and fairways were excellent. Greens were not quite up to standard as they had been tined a week or two earlier to get ready for the main season, so they were of variable pace. Some still had the tine holes filled with sand (but this process has to be done at some time!). Our first visit (from UK) and if we come back to the area would definitely consider playing again.
Legacy Golf Club
Played On 10/13/2015Rather Scruffy
The tees were poor; the greens had patches of different grass on them (although they ran fairly true) and occasional ones had holes in the surface (presumably made by herons?); the fairways were good. Staff were very friendly.
Overall we felt the course looked 'tired' and we came away somewhat disappointed.
