Course needs an update

Course is pretty good - similar layout to nearby courses I have played.
Greens were sanded, can't figure out why given it's the height of snowbird season and there appeared to be in decent shape. Fairways were good for the most part.
Not a lot of amenities and we got stuck behind 2 foursomes that went out on our 9:08 tee time due to a ladies tournament (it's supposedly a regular event, so not sure why things weren't planned better), so was nearly 5 hour round with a twosome. Much chaos.
It looks like they recently ripped out the GPS (rack and wiring was still in the cart with no unit), and no yardage markers other than the blue 200, white 150 and red 100, which according to my Bushnell were 10+ yards off...
I can tell it used to be nice, but appears to have been slipping for quite some time.
Not a bad deal given the time of year, but have played other courses locally I would prefer next round I am in the area.

Great Course

For the money, can't beat it for the money. Great, friendly staff and pace of play is marshalled very well. The course is a little beat up from a rainy winter, good bones and feel like if I play in summer, it has the potential for a better review.

Don't Waste your Time

I have been driving by it on the interstate for 15 years and decided to stop and try it out - Glad I got a hot deal. left after 5 holes. clover in the fairways - hard as a rock - dinged a club on a shot from the fairway off a rock. Playground sand in bunkers, weeds-weeds-weeds. couldn't get a tee in the ground far enough on two of the 4 tee boxes that weren't par 3.
It's the caliber of a low-end muni course.

Slow Greens, Slow Play, goes downhilll from there.

Nicely greeted by staff. Not sure Golfnow.com has player skill, but the course put a single advanced player with a 3-some who couln't collectively fly the ball over 100 yards in the air with all three shots.
Nice folks, but if you want a good round of golf, pass.
I walked off after 9-holes - greens are slow and bumpy, nothing about this course separates it from a goat ranch.
If you don't play a lot and want a putt-putt like experience, this is not a bad place.
but if you are intermediate and above, pass.
Oh, and icing on the cake. No driving range. They sold the land for apartments, so while you cannot warm up other than a few cages by the clubhouse (better facilities in my back yard), you do get to enjoy the sound of screaming kids on a few of the holes.
PASS!!!

Rude Staff - No Marhsalling/Management

Starter hurried us up 20 minutes before out tee time, let a foursome tee off in front of us when we got to the tee box 10 minutes early. They guy is a jerk - the course is not kept up. Greens are bumpy full of weeds, the bunkers that do have adequate amount of sand are full of rocks, and fairways are hard and mostly bare. It's ok if you don't care about the conditions - that's who is out there anyway. Carts driving up by the greens, 6-somes, etc. Not a course for any golfer who respects the rules and knows etiquette...like a very low-end muni - won't waste my time here again.

Get a Marshall!!!

Enough said. Members and foreigners need to learn to let folks play through. 4 and 5 somes everywhere ground things to a halt. Walked off after 9 holes. Not worth the discount to play.

pass on this

Course is not in great shape and I have been frustrated with the pace of play prior.
Went back for a good golf now deal, it's not even worth the discounted money. Generally not kept up well and the driving range is like hitting off of parking lot. You can't warm up with a driver or 3-wood, But most "patrons" disregard that Rule in addition to just about all else..
Also, for some reason, they chose to let people go off the back nine on a slow day, which took my ground to a screeching halt and I walked off the course after 10. Puzzling that they would allow that to hurt pace of play, but given the conduct of the players on the course, most of them do not know golf etiquette and they are not marshaled to be respectful of the rules of golf and etiquette around pace of play.
it's the golfers that really hurt the most here. And the course management is unwilling to enforce any rules to help.

Potential

Good layout, but no markings on sprinkler heads, etc. and not even the 150 marker on half the holes. did OK in spite, but mis-clubbed multiple holes not knowing carry, yardeage, etc.
Greens in decent shape - not a bad course for the money. Need something to measure yardage to help you find yardages.
Watch out for rocks around the greens - dinged up my favorite wedge from a tight lie that ended up being a large square rock...

Rocks in the Bunker - watch out for the kids

4 3-somes of what appeared to be teenagers ruined the round by teeing off on the back nine around 3 pm...They need to learn etiquette and how to waive a single player through. Play ground to a halt - took 30 minutes on #10 after I made the turn in just under 2 hours. Walked off the course and explained the situation to the woman in the pro shop. She was nice, but I don't get a sense she has any flexibility around a situation they let occur. Comment to the course - don't let groups go off the back nine when there is virtually nobody on the course!!!
Also, rocks in the bunkers were huge - hit a sand shot and dinged up my wedge pretty good. Rocks were about half the size of the golf balls - I know that because several came out and landed on the green. New sand, but looks like they just went out and dug it up. Plus, it's heavy litter-box sand - like hitting out of wet cement.
I can see why the locals like it - it's cheap and pretty good, but greens were very slow and ground was hard. Had shots from the fairway where it felt like hitting off a parking lot - I typically take a good divot, had shots where my club literally bounced off the ground at impact and only took the grass lightly covering the red clay.
Don't think I will be back...

Love this course!!!

Prefer it to Mountain - pace of play and scenery are both much better!!! Love old school courses - unique challenges and I get to hit every club in the bag. Highly recommend to beginners - large fairways and not very long, but fun. More highly skilled golfers have a chance for risk/reward shots and to put a good number on the scorecard if you are striking the ball and clubbing well...

Nice Course

Have now played both - Rolling Oaks is a much better test if you like to play from the tips.
Opens with a couple of tough holes, then is pretty easy going from there.
Played by myself without a scorecard, so had to rely on line of site and guestimation, but got it done in 81 - even though I lost two balls due to misclubbing.
Greens are very undulating - rolled pretty true. A little crispy - I was the last one out for the day - need to prune a couple of trees that hang in the way of the yellow tournament tees. I am not Bubba and can't bend it 30 yards - at least on purpose...
Overall, great value at both courses - I always look at World Woods on Golfnow - one of the best values you will find!

Great Greens

Greens putted true. We followed up a tournament, so the staff appeared to be exhausted and the course was a bit disheveled. I enjoyed playing here - a bit much for the quality. Biggest downer was the two hack foursomes in front who would not let us play through (even when one of the carts broke down). Need the ranger to enforce speed of play. Once we got by these jerks, pace was nice for a weekend. Would play again with a better deal - only OK for the price.

Great Greens

They are doing some work to the course. Overall, not too bad a shape. The greens were great. Not very fast, but true. You can tell they are doing work to improve, but still very playable except for one hole.
The issue is the old men who drive their carts by the green and won't let you play through.
Also, I found myself filling their divots on par 3 tees and most fairways, fixing multiple pitch marks on the greens, etc.
Message to them - if you can't sand over the squirrel tails you gouge out of the course, bend down to fix your pitch marks on the rare instances where you actually hit the green, help maintain the course or walk from the cart path to the green, then think about another hobby.
Guess there is a trade off for a great deal.
