Devils Head Resort & Convention Center - Glacier Course
Played On 08/14/2017Devils Head, Glacier Course
What a bargain through Golf Now! A beautiful course nestled high in the Wisconsin hills with spectacular views. Play it for fun, not for score as the greens, while in great shape, are unreadable, mounded, and very difficult. Beer at 6 bucks each, a bit much though. We thoroughly enjoyed playing here.
Eglin AFB Golf Course - Eagle
Played On 03/27/2017Eglin AFB courses
Both Falcon and Eagle courses are beautiful, challenging, and a bargain after 2 PM. Greens in great condition but oh so tricky! Fighter jets playing tag above seemed to be putting on a show for us. Awesome.
Drawbacks: each 9 does not end at the clubhouse, so bring your own refreshments, no roving beer girls either which is just as well, hard to find any attendant in the bar/restaurant. Toilets on the course are plentiful but have no lights, relying instead on skylights which are dirty and obscured. Bring a flashlight or cell phone light! Minor stuff, just love these courses!
Eglin AFB Golf Course - Falcon
Played On 02/13/2017A challenging course!
What a beautiful course! Surprising hilly, especially for Florida. Only knock were the restrooms on the course itself.... no lights, no windows. Skylights were probably once sufficient but now dirty and unkept. If you like a hot dog at the turn, bring your own. At each of Eglin's two 18 hole courses, the ninth does not end at the clubhouse, you just continue to the tenth. I've never seen that before and that is fine unless you're hungry!
Lake Diamond Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/05/2016Interesting Experience!
Talk about a turn around! Now I recognize this is an inexpensive course so I did not have great expectations. But after playing the front nine, I almost left. Acres of cleared land hardly picturesque, poor cart trails, dust everywhere, and many depressions obviously designed to hold water but empty.
Plus no liquor license so not even beer to soothe the soul! When I went in the clubhouse at the turn to get a hot dog, there were 4 people there. I stood at the counter, no attention. Finally, I had to ask "do any of you work here?" All four did.
The back nine changed my mind entirely. It was beautiful! Lots of water, great conditions, interesting holes. My recommendation is just to play the back nine.
Bargain for the Money
Just a superb value, especially through Golf Now. You are not surrounded by homes, though there are some near. On most of the holes, you see only the beauty of the southern flora and fauna. Very peaceful and conducive to a good round. The course was dry and if you take divots as I do, can make shots more difficult. Great layout, interesting holes not back and forth as many courses. Some of the greens were in pretty poor shape though.
Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Oak Forest Course

We travel the country. This course is one of the best for the money! Loved it! Greens are super fast.
La Contenta Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2016A fun, but difficult course!
Interesting course, one I'd play again. Could use senior tees for old codgers like me. Par 3's of 160-200 yards just too long. Course in good shape except greens are so worn, it's like putting on glass. Bunkers are well placed but need more than just surface sand. Attractive bar and restaurant area but bartendress, while pretty, was not, well let's just say, a professional bartender.
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 01/18/2016Pacific Grove
I can't say enough about this course. I've played all the courses in the Monterey area and this, for the money, is my favorite especially if you can get a Golf Now tee time, not always available unfortunately. The front nine is rather mundane but difficult nonetheless especially if you're not a long hitter. Deer get in the way, and we saw a bobcat or other large feral cat prowling the perimeter. But it is the back nine that is magnificent. The poor man's Pebble Beach they say with good reason. I've played the Pebble Beach course and sure it is thrilling but over managed and hugely expensive. The back nine at Pacific Grove rivals Pebble Beach. We played on a holiday but even so not crowded. The Pacific Ocean was roiling, sending mist into the air, and as we teed off late, we got to see the beautiful sunset. Lest you think I work for this course, two negatives: we were held up by a "sixsome" ahead of us and no rangers to ask what are you doing? Second, the first golf cart we got in was dead. We chose another which ran out of power on the back nine - had to call the golf shop to get another cart and I will say they promptly responded. Play this course, you'll love it!
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 09/17/2015Good course, challenging but manageable
I continue to be amazed at the great conditions California courses seem to be in, despite the drought. This is another GolfNow bargain!
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 08/14/2015Fun course!
Challenging for an intermediate golfer, but enjoyable if you don't mind airplanes taking off overhead. Front nine much more fun and picturesque . Golf Now rates super but $17 for a ride along is just plain gouging.
West at Rancho Canada Golf Club
Played On 08/07/2015Beautiful views
Course in very good shape in great location (California traffic notwithstanding). Two negatives are the $17 ride-along charge and a tacky $3 cart key deposit which of course I forgot to return to the clubhouse. I am curious as to why CA courses do not have senior tee boxes.... at 68, whites make it a bit difficult to reach the greens in regulation.
Silverhorn Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2015Could be a great inexpensive course, if....
... it had signs at every hole depicting the hole layout. Several were missing and there were no hole depictions on the scorecard. This made it very difficult for a new player. Sand traps were dirt traps.
... And if distance markers were more prominent. On some holes, we had no idea what direction to go.
Also, $3.50 for a beer is a little steep.
Alamo Golf Club

if you are tight with money and don't mind hitting off of rocks and gravel, this course is for you. Wear a helmet though because many holes are back to back with no barriers. The greens aren't greens, they are grays. Must be near a school because lots of young people playing which is good to see but be prepared for their antics such as the walking foursome ahead of us not offering to let a single player on a cart play through. Good signage and cart paths though.
