Played On 08/26/2014Too Fast!
I'm not a fan of fast greens. It's not a lot of fun watching a slow putt near the cup and then continue to run 20 feet off the green! I took 40 putts here one day after taking 27 at Diamond Hill. I find it hard to recommend the course because of the speed of the greens. The pace of play was not speedy though. The layout was nice with water in play on many holes. Plays a bit long from the white tees for my taste as I had long irons / hybrids into many par 4 and par 3 holes.

Played by myself at around noon and finished 18 holes in under 2 1/2 hours. Very enjoyable being able to play at my own pace with no one holding me up. Greens had just been sanded, but I liked them taking only 27 putts for the round! Course is short from the white tees but very enjoyable as I only had wedge on many approaches after driving. Wide open diving areas! Course conditions were fine though not exceptional. Carts were nice electric ones.

I booked a tee time but didn't notice that the course was using temporary greens. Shocked when I found every green gone. Each hole was 30 to 40 yards shorter and had a closely mown area with a cup and flag. Yardages were tough though most shots into these holes were with wedges. I didn't bother putting! Pro told me they expect the new greens to be ready in August. I suggest you wait until then.

Played On 10/17/2013Rough!
The course is very rough these days. There was a lot of crab grass in the fairways and the greens were not in the best of shape. Skip the practice green as its speed is so slow it doesn't compare to the speed on the course. The cart paths are so rough and bumpy the course should rent a kidney belt along with the cart. Probably will not return again as there are better quality courses for the same money.
Apollo Beach Golf & Sea Club
Played On 09/21/2013Much better than anticipated...
I hadn't played Apollo Beach in many years and was pleasantly surprised that the fairways were in good shape. The last time I played many of the fairways were patchy. If you take a look at Google maps satellite photos you can still see the old conditions at the 150 yard markers of most fairways. Anyway, that was then... this time I found plenty of good fairway turf and the greens were very smooth. They are planted with a salt-loving variety of grass and the result is a firm and solid putting surface - very nice. The White tees were reasonable though I wish courses would have more variety of yardages on their par 3 holes. It seemed like I was always pulling 6-iron on them because of wind conditions. Played at 11:00am on Saturday and finished in around 3 hours. I'll be back.
The Oak Bridge Club
Played On 09/02/2013Tight layout with six par three holes.
Played on Labor Day with my son as a twosome. Pace of play was acceptable although we waited on most shots due to the difficulties the foursome ahead was experiencing - still finished in around 4 hours. Fairways were nice although rather narrow - appearing more so due to large overhanging oak branches from the large trees. Good amount of water, but easily avoided. No short par 3 holes - all playing longer than 150 yards from the white tees. Greens on the back nine were damaged. Bunkers were very hard packed made worse from the summer rains. Course would not be my first choice to play again although at $29 through GolfNow was reasonable.
