Heritage Harbor
Played On 04/29/2018Great Layout and Challenge
Played the Gold tees this time, and wow what a difference. The course is completely different from those tees and offers 18 different challenges unthought of from the Blues or Whites. Thoroughly enjoyed the round with my friends. Greens are mostly flat, but putted true. Great value for the money especially on Mondays and Tuesday in the afternoon for $1 per hole with cart.
Heritage Harbor
Played On 04/11/2017Great Layout - Dry conditions
Played here over 50+ times in the last couple of years. Improvements being made on weed control on greens and fairways is evident and welcomed. Course needs more water, either in the form of sprinklers or rain. Lakes are low, dusty conditions off the fairway, and very tight fairways with little grass or no grass for the ball to rest on. Greens were treated with fertilizer, but had no impact on the roll of the ball. Definitely rolled properly and consistent. Connie the cart girl is amazing and frequently travels around the course which is great on these hot days.
Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 06/10/2015Excellent as usual
Saddlebrook offers a challenging layout, and always plays at a good pace of play compared to others. Friendly staff, great conditions, and resort surroundings. Only negative is beverage pricing, and valet parking seems to be mandatory. Unaware of how to park your own vehicle.
Seven Hills Golfers Club
Played On 11/14/2014Hairy Greens - Sprinklers
Play 50+ rounds a year in the Tampa Bay area, but never, ever experienced sprinklers turning on in the middle of our shots in the fairways. My brother got blasted by a sprinkler turning on as he was addressing a ball, and the cart got soaked due to where it was parked. I laughed on the initial hole it happened, but it followed us for the next 6-7 holes.
The greens were uncut and required an extended backswing and hard hit to get the ball to the hole.
Nice layout, but not a good day with the greens and sprinklers for nearly half the round. Why would they be on midday with players on the course????
Scotland Yards Golf Club
Played On 03/22/2014BAD day on the golf course...tournament
Tee time for 1157am on Saturday, four players, two fathers playing 18 holes with our sons. Arrived and noticed on an advertisement in the pro shop that a tournament was set for a shotgun start at 2pm on the first 11 holes. I asked if that were going to be an issue with us out there, and was told that we should be long gone by then....???? Well, we weren't. The starter approached us by the 5th hole, and told us we needed to speed up in order to get through to the 11th tee box by 2pm. That's 11 holes in 2 hours time with 2 junior golfers in the carts, not going to happen....but we would try. By the 6th hole, he was watching us hit our shots, which made the kids nervous, my son picked up his ball, and the other boy was struggling to begin with, let alone having another person pressuring him to hurry up. We were approached again on the 6th green by the starter who instructed us to skip holes #7 and #8. and go straight to #9. And when we finished the back side, go right ahead and start again on #1... I offered to take a rain check for 3 players for 18 holes (which I thought was fair given the circumstances, as we had only played a total of 23 holes between the 4 of us) and to get out of the way of the tournament and play another day, but was told 'no, and to play on'. We rushed through the turn and all the people lined up to the tournament, no break for a drink or restroom with no time to spare....played #10 and while on the #11 green, noticed the tournament on the tee box. They were on our butts the next 2 holes, and felt pressured enough that we began to play best ball amongst ourselves. We finished the back side in an hour and 5 minutes with the tournament behind us the entire way, after which I went into the pro shop and was going to get a drink for us all, and was told they were closing the front 9 pretty soon, as the tournament was about to make the turn. I conveyed my dissatisfaction to the pro shop gentleman, that our experience in rushing to play a 3 hour round of golf with 2 juniors learning the game was not to our intention and did not meet our satisfaction, and was met with nothing but an apology, WE QUIT instead of another 9 holes. Very disappointing day on this golf course. I play 40-50 rounds a year and will never be back to this course as a result of it's short sightedness. Our sons had an awful golf experience, as did we as fathers....we paid $84 to play this day, and finished in just over 3 hours due to being rushed the entire day both by staff and tournament players. A rain check would have saved this day and this experience from happening, but to expect a four some to play 11 holes in 2 hours, especially with two junior players.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 9/27/2013Exceptional, all the way around
World Woods Pine Barrens says it all. Great layout, great conditions, challenging quick greens, but fair, especially the back 9 holes...perfect day. With all the rain this area has had. the course was immaculate with no signs of wet conditions in the fairways, greens, or bunkers. A pleasure to play and exceptional course with exceptional conditions, especially after the past few rounds at Northdale (5+ hours slow), Saddlebrook (cart paths only/wet), and Lake Bernadette (under water/fairways).
Bloomingdale Golfers Club
Played On 9/12/2013Better than most, greens still recovering
Always a challenge and chose Bloomingdale because of their consistent greens. Unfortunately the usual pristine greens were recovering from being punched and at times were bumpy and inconsistent. The layout from tee box to green did not disappoint, and the fairways were not wet even with all the recent rain. Just bad luck as routine maintenance during the season is necessary in order to have the greens Bloomingdale is known for....I will be back.
Northdale Golf Club
Played On 9/1/2013Holiday Weekend
It was a holiday weekend with a 930a tee time, course was overbooked and finished first hole at 1030a. Inside bar/food/drink was closed at the turn at 1pm? Cart girl was out and saw her twice in the 5+ hours on the course...thought it would be more frequently especially at this pace of play.
Links of Lake Bernadette
Played On 7/27/2013Lake Bernadette's flood gates were broken!
90 degree rule due to weather was an understatement of how wet the course was....lost 4 balls in the fairway due to plugging or puddles, legs splattered with mud from walking out to hit shots, shirt speckled with black spots from hitting shots in the fairways and spraying my upper body. I paid 9 dollars to play, whereas others paid full price of $25, and wish Id have gone to the range instead as it would have been money better spent. The course should have been closed, not sure how soon it will recover from the tire tracks left from those who played Saturday. I recommend the course for play when dry, but fault the management decision to open the course. Fault myself for not driving away after noticing an abandoned cart stuck in the mud in the first fairway.
I play the course twice a month on Saturday afternoons. The course is 5 minutes from my house and reasonably priced. I no longer can stand the pace of play as it is so over booked, it is a 5 hr round. The rangers do nothing to speed up play, and it's unfortunate because the course is in good shape and the greens are among the best in the Bay area.
