Somersett Country Club - Championship
Played On 07/11/2018Great Course!
This is an amazing course in the Reno Tahoe area. They are a private club, however they offer tee times with a groupon discount. For $65 the course is amazing for the value. In my opinion, the best course I've played in the Reno area. There are better courses in the Tahoe area but they will easily cost $150 plus to play. (Coyote Moon, Old Greenwood etc)
The course is in great shape. The Bent greens roll quick and true but are not unfair. The large sand white bunkers, lush green fairways and elevation change make for an interesting course layout. I've played all over the Reno Tahoe area and would suggest Somersett Golf Club to anyone visiting the area.
Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Lake/Canyon
Played On 09/22/2017Great course in South Bay
Course is in good condition. Fairways have some type of infection growing but only on a select few of holes. The amount charged is equivalent to the type of course played. I enjoy the canyon side more but the mountain nine was not bad in any sense. The greens set the course apart. Quick, not unfair, and they hold the line of putts. I enjoy the course enough to come back and play again when I get the chance. This is a course all avid golfers should play while in the South Bay relative to green fees. Just don’t expect resort style service before or after round
Ranch Course at Genoa Lakes Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2017Good Course, but needs some work
I've played this course when I was 14, currently 24. The course needs a little maintenance and upkeep. Unfortunately, they took out 5 holes along the hillside. The new holes are very disappointing, holes 3-7. However, besides these holes the rest of the course is good. The greens could use some more care but the fairway and tee boxes are in good condition. I prefer the Lakes Course at Genoa, a much better track.with more character and better layout. Overall, the Ranch is a good course. I enjoy playing it and if your on a golfing vacation around Lake Tahoe its a good course if you don't want to pay the high price for courses such as Edgewood or Old Greenwood in Truckee.
Somersett Country Club - Championship
Played On 06/15/2017Great Course, Great Views, Great Condition
I've played all around the Reno/Tahoe Area. From Coyote Moon to Genoa Lakes. This course was a pleasant surprise. I bought a Groupon deal for a $60 round.
The course was in maculate condition. The greens rolled true but not overly fast. The bunkers are large and the fairways are wide. The wind and undulating greens protect this course.
The clubhouse was being built and looked close to completion. After completion I'm sure this will be a great club. I wouldn't be surprised if this course becomes fully private for members only in the future. There is enough variety to keep the course interesting for me to return.
If you are looking for a course that is aesthetically pleasing, good views, and has a good variety of holes meandering through canyons and hillsides then look no further then Somersett Country Club. If anyone asked me what courses to play in Reno, I would direct them here.
