Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 02/03/2024Great course
Excellent course for a great value. I can't recall a blade of grass out of place. Had a great round with a good group of guys. A must play course in the desert.
Canyon Crest Country Club
Played On 01/06/2024Great Track
Difficult course with the nicest, fastest greens that I've played in a long time. However, it has not been overseeded in forever! There are about 10 different types of grass out there along with a lot of bare spots. Still it is a great track and a real butt kicker. It will take you at least 9 holes to get even close to figuring out the speed on those greens. Definitely worth your money.

A fantastic layout in an idyllic setting. I read some recent reviews saying that the course was in good shape. I decided to get back out there for the first time in 4 years. It was all that and a bag of chips. Fantastic shape, greens are the best that I've seen at this course. This is a must play in SoCal right now.
Desert Island Country Club
Played On 05/21/2023Good Layout
Nice layout with a bit of challenging holes mixed in with some resort style holes. LOTS of water, if you're wild bring extra balls. Played on a Sunday and got around in under 4 hours but the course wasn't too crowded. Fantastic amenities with a sweet outdoor bar and an amazing clubhouse. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Definitely would return. A couple of negatives, the greens right now are really baked out and it is very early in the hot season. They still rolled well even over the sketchy parts but I don't know how long they're going to hold up like that. Could have used a beverage cart out there. Even with a light tee sheet there were still enough thirsty folks out there on a Sunday to make it worth the while for someone to run around some beverages. This was my first try at this track and I definitely want to see it in its prime. See you in November folks!

Everything about the Desert Springs Resort is perfect. That would include the Palms course. Wide open enough to be considered a resort course but with enough water, bunkers, and uneven lies to make it somewhat challenging. Can't go wrong with this one.

Played On 11/11/2021Excellent Condition
Played on Veteran's Day with a 3-some from the Can. Course was in great shape. Just reopened from over-seeding it was in fantastic condition. Greens were rolling smooth and true. Great lies in the fairways. I was on Player Course. This is a resort course with wide open fairways, few water carries, large greens, and manageable rough. Great course for mid-high handicappers. It is a typical Player course however with deep bunkers and rolling fairways that rarely give you a flat/even lie. The bunkers were in great shape and easy to escape but tricky to get up and down when you're 8' below the green. I definitely recommend the course, amenities, and staff. Great place to play and I WILL be back.
Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course
Played On 10/31/2021Almost there
The course recovered very well from maintenance. Fairways are lush and green. Tees are in great shape. You'd expect a bit of bumpiness left over from punching the greens but they are as smooth as glass. Greens are still a bit slow as if they are trying to let the roots get a bit more mature before they trim them down to normal playing speed. Overall this is a great links style course that can really get your goat when the wind blows. But the fairways are quite generous for the weekend golfers. I recommend you get out and play this one since it is one of the best values in the desert.
Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2021If you build it...
If you build it, they will come. This course, and the anchoring casino, is literally in the middle of nowhere. But every aspect of the casino, hotel, and golf course are first rate. The clubhouse rivals any private course that I've visited. They outdid themselves in every aspect of this venue. I can't help but put this in the same category as Ram's Hill, another golf course in the middle of nowhere but is on the Golf Digest Top 50 list. It's pricey for being out there so far but worth the trip. Don't miss out on this one, it is an excellent track in outstanding condition.
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course!
Resort at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 03/20/2021Great course, great value
Course is in great shape. Greens were perfect but they were curiously slow. We kept leaving a bunch of putts short because the greens look so pristine that your mind thinks they have to be faster. They did roll very true though. The rest of the course was green and lush. We were visited by the beverage cart 4x in 18 holes and they were very friendly. It got a bit breezy after lunch but not too bad. All in all a great day on the course.
Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2021A bit wet
They're over watering a bit so there's a lot of very wet spots in the fairways. Overall the course was in good shape. Greens are nice and rolling about 10.5.
Thank you for visiting us at Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Rancho Del Sol Golf Club
Played On 10/12/2020Worth the trip
The course is a shadow of its former self. However, the fairways are in decent condition and the greens are great. I think it's priced about right. Worth the trip and somewhat challenging but fair.
Journey at Pechanga
Played On 07/20/2020Let me nit pick this excellent course
You can't debate the quality of this course. It is in superb shape. Very difficult if you've never played it before. Ridiculous elevation changes.I mean RIDICULOUS! Insane slopes on greens. Blind shots or shots over/around trees or slopes if you're not in the proper spot on the fairway. Add some wind like we had today and you're going to be challenged. So since I can't criticize any part of the course let me nit pick. I now know why it is called Journey because you need to pack your camping gear to get between holes. I don't think that I'm exaggerating when I say that some of the drives between holes are a half mile or more. Even getting from tee box to the fairway can be a circuitous 1/4 mile adventure. It is truly a journey to navigate this course. Come on out and enjoy this excellent track. It is truly a beautiful course.
PGA WEST Greg Norman Course
Played On 04/25/2020COVID Golf
Courses are just reopening and it was just great to get out there and hit a ball around. Unfortunately for the golfers in La Quinta the city has mandated that everyone wear masks while golfing. In 100+ degree heat! This made for some stifling conditions. I'm an Infectious Disease nurse and we had an MD in our group as well. Once we cleared the clubhouse we doffed our masks. About the fifth hole a marshall came out and told us that someone living on the course had called them to complain that we weren't masked. I don't know...perhaps they were afraid of getting infected from 150 yards away? So I asked if the ones who called were the 2 males that were walking on the course trespassing without a mask or was it someone from the 3 separate private golf carts we saw on public streets with no masks? Anyway, can't fault the course for upholding ridiculous regulations passed by policy makers who have no clue what their talking about. The course was in fantastic shape. Of course the on/off course amenities are suffering since nothing is open except the golf course and there are no beverage carts out on the course. This was my first time playing this one and I really enjoyed the company, the course, the pace. I'll be coming back for sure.
Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 02/17/2020Good resort course.
Wide open fairways, lush green fairways lined with dormant Bermuda grass, greens fast but flat. This is a great resort course. However, a course marshall would have been useful today. I went as a single and got paired up with a very slow 4some. I kept trying to move them along and so did the 4 ball of ladies behind us. Still managed to finish in 4:20. This is a great course to have a good time on your first round. Very enjoyable.
Escena Golf Club
Played On 02/15/2020Great desert value
Course is in great shape as usual. Great Nicholas track made tricky by some difficult par 5s. The top 4 handicap holes are par 5s. This is one of the best values of the desert with a great course, excellent amenities, and friendly staff. If there was one thing I could criticize is the lack of a driving range. The only range is hitting into a net. There's plenty of short game practice available but you can't hit full shots into a range. If I could be so bold I'd like to suggest that they get a few of those Trackman devices.
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 02/02/2020Great desert golf
Always in great shape, this is one of the best in the desert. Also a great value. The on course and off course amenities are first rate from the range to the practice greens to the pro shop, restaurants, even the bathrooms. Nothing 4 star about this one...everything is 5 star. And the staff are great. A must play if you're in Palm Springs.
CrossCreek Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2020Great place to get away
Get away from the world in the foothills of Temecula. An excellent and challenging track surrounded by multi-million dollar estates, avocado groves, and wine vineyards. You won't get a cell signal here so your work and family will not disturb your round. Just pure, uninterrupted golf.
Oak Quarry Golf Club
Played On 11/09/2019Still recovering
Looks like they just reopened after course maintenance. Greens are a bit slow but that is to be expected as they allow it grow in better. However they were rolling very true. The fairways were not overseeded and are going dormant. The fringes and approaches are still trying to grow in and the grass is very sparse. This leads to a lot of tight lies and since they are still watering heavily that means chunk after chunk after chunk. Give it a couple more weeks to fill in. Pace was a bit slow as well.
Oak Valley Golf Club
Played On 10/05/2019Great shape
Course is in great shape as usual. Greens are always true. The only reason that I can't go 5 Stars on conditions is due to some very flooded out areas. I'm pretty sure that is because of recent overseeding. I'll be back next weekend for another round.
