Blue Rock Springs Golf Course - East
Played On 04/07/2024Good Value
Paired up with another single who knew the course and was of great help. The greens were quick and tricky, the rough was high, and the fairways were in average condition. They get a lot of play so don't expect pristine conditions. Overall it was a nice track in moderate condition with fast breaking greens. Nice experience.
The Metropolitan Golf Links
Played On 01/15/2018We played this course on a holiday (MLK Jr Day) and it was fairly crowded but the foursome in front of us was a hole behind all day until the marshall talked to them on hole #15. The course was wet and the greens were fast. We paid a holiday green fee ($52) and this course is not worth that price but I do like the layout.
Deer Ridge Golf Club
Played On 09/05/2015Aeration Special
A minor aeration in the past few days caused the greens to be bumpy and slow from the sand. Normally these greens are quick with lots of break. Some of the fairways were just weeds with lots of bare patches probably caused by the drought. I like the layout and it can get windy out here. Sand traps were firm. Play it in about two weeks and the greens will be much improved. Can't complain about a $15 green fee.
The Metropolitan Golf Links
Played On 02/12/2015The Old Tony Lema
This course has been around for quite some time, they just changed the name and improved the greens. There are some carries over water and it can get windy here, right next to the Oakland Airport. They get lots of senior play and pace of play could be better. All in all it's a fun course and i would recommend it, especially if you can get a discount price, $40 during the week is to high.
Shadow Lakes Club
Played On 01/29/2015Nice Layout But Needs Some Work
The course receives plenty of play and we played 18 holes in about 4 hours. The fairways could use some grass and because of this your drives roll out a long ways, firm dirt. They did not offer flags for handicapped players and our cart broke down on the 11th hole. The bunkers have very little sand. It's a nice layout with firm greens that have lots of break in them. We paid $22.50 per player on a weekday and the value was good.
Merlot/Chardonnay at Poppy Ridge Golf Course
Played On 12/22/2014Well kept Golf Course
This 27 hole course is the home of NCGA. Has several sets of tees for all skill levels, some water, several bunkers and can get windy. The greens are normally pristine and they keep the course in great condition all year. You will not be disappointed with any of the nines.
Roddy Ranch Golf Club
Played On 05/01/2014Great Course At A Reasonable Rate
The course was in very good condition. The winds can kick up out here and you can get in trouble if you're off the fairways in the native grass areas. There are several sets of tees that can make this as challenging as you would like. I would play it again!
Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
Played On 04/22/2014Water and Wind
Foxtail North has recently been aerated. Normally a fast course the greens and fairways played very slow. It was extremely windy with a few challenging holes into the wind that you have to carry the water, fortunately there are bail out areas. They get lots of senior play during the week and pace of play is poor because most walk. Overall, this is a basic muni course that gets lots of play.
Hiddenbrooke Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2014Course Analysis
Hiddenbrooke's greens were aerated on 3/17/14 and are in perfect condition, have seen them faster. The tee boxes could use some work as do some of the bunkers. This is a great layout and the course is challenging for all levels of golfers. There are lots of divots in the fairways so lies can be dicey. The bar/grill closes at 5PM as well as the pro shop.
Metro is the old Lew Galbraith course. Tony Lema is now Monarch Bay.
