Unexpected ddlight

The cart attendant took our bags and everything went well from that point forward. The pro shop staff, the snack bar attendant, and the starter were all very attentive to our needs. We were paired with another twosome. When we checked with the starter he said he was running ahead so he had sent the other twosome out early and we could play alone. We never saw anyone behind us and the pace was under 4 hours. The fairways were perfect. The greens were a good speed,, very consistent and true. I played another nearby course earlier in the week and paid a lot more for worse conditions. My only complaint is that there was no beverage cart and the snack bar closed before we made the turn. But even that was handled well. The snack bar attendant warned us before we started play and filled a cooler with Ice so we could purchase enough drinks for the round. This will be my go to course any time I am in the Destin area.

Wasted time and money

The course was closed a couple of days (Thursday and Friday) for overseeding. So you would assume that the first day open after overseeing, Saturday, that the greens would be freshly mowed and cups newly cut. WRONG! The greens were in awful condition. I might be willing to forgive that, but I don't forgive lack of effort when I spend valuable time and money to play golf. We played early Saturday morning and the tee sheet was packed. The greens had not been cut, so not only were they hairy, they were also covered in dew. The cups looked like they had not been moved in a week. These were the worst conditioned greens I have played in years! They had spent a lot of money recently replacing the sand in bunkers and refurbishing some of the bridges through the swamps. So it is hard to understand why the greens were allowed to be so bad. I had played here several time over the last 10-15 years and had always thought the course was above average. No longer!
On a positive note, the starter was honest telling us in advance the course needed some work. We also enjoyed great weather and the father-son two ball we were paired with. The restaurant/sports bar after the round was clearly the highlight of the day. Go enjoy the restaurant and don't waste your time or money on golf here until they make major improvements to the course, especially the greens.

Great experience

We got a good rate on Golfnow. We had played this course a couple of years earlier and had enjoyed the experience. The new clubhouse is close to being finished. They were still operating out of a modular type building,. But this did not distract from a good experience. If you are looking for a 19th hole experience this might be an issue. We arrived a couple of hours before our tee time and enjoyed a great practice area. The balls were provided with the green fee. The range is a lake. So you are actually aiming at greens in the lake. They had the largest practice putting and chipping green I have ever seen, which like the actual greens, was in great condition. We played as a two-ball, so we waited some. But overall the pace was good. The course, especially the greens, was in great shape. The staff were all friendly and helpful. This was well worth the 20 minute drive from the Disney area to play a top notch course for a very reasonable fee.

Great company

This is a 3 or 3 1/2 Star course that is capable of more. The conditions were average, with the greens a slow but smooth and consistent. The cups had obviously not been moved in several days. We saw a total of 4 staff attending to golfers; the guy taking our payment in the pro shop, a bag boy, a second bag man who also served as the starter and Marshall and one cart girl. All were courteous and friendly. Just way too much for 4 people to handle on a busy day. We were paired with a couple of gentlemen from Scotland who were great fun. These guys turned a 3 star round into. 5 star day.

Wow

The opportunity to see the clubhouse is worth the green fee. The course design is amazing. I did not imagine that a course could have such elevation changes in the Orlando area. The tee boxes, fairways, sand traps, and greens were all in good condition. It appears that the course is not getting a lot of play, which impacts the cash flow situation. If this course was maintained to the level of similar facilities, it would be one of the top courses in Florida.
