Possible Excellent Play

I like Escena. It has a playable layout by Nicklaus. Greens are always great, fairways are poor right now due to summer and water draught. Course is doing complete bunker reno and will be superb traps. The course is over-rated on rack fees, but if you find GN fees of 20 or better you have a great play. I am very frugal so maybe you would be happy with upto 35. It is somewhat challenging from the gold tees with two par 3 over 200 and several par 4 over 400-440 and 3 par 5 that really don't allow eagle opportunities. Tips are a real challenge, Greens are small. Not too many roll-offs, but undulated - typical Nicklaus.

Great Play

This is a great play at the right price unless you are not concerned about money. This play is excellent under 30 for the average player and upto 50 for the more wealthly endowed. The course is immaculate and very enjoyable. Wide fairways, large greens, great carts with GPS. No water supplied but coolers every few holes. Back nine a little more challenging and 18th is their hole you will never forget. You get a par here and you can brag forever. 6200yds is a good play, test your ego and take it back two more to the tips.(good luck)

Very interesting course

Enjoyed the course very much. Suggest white tees at 6200 yds. Don't need the driver on a lot of holes unless you hit it straight. Greens were very good. Putts roll out very well. Watch your speed. You need to think about club selection off the tee's. Tight fairways with lots of trouble available off them. If you like a challenge this is a good one.

Very nice Resort Course

This is a well maintained scenic resort course. The course is in excellent condition. Course played long due to heavy air and no rollout in fairways. A couple of holes (16 especially) are designed poorly allowing a poor landing area for as the difficulty or approach to the green. A long drive is rewarded with rollout into the water.

Course design is Very good

This is a very nice course design. The problem now is that the course is up for sale and there is no staff. The course is not being watered (due to water management (drought), and no greenskeeper due to owners financial problems. Fairways have a lot of rolloff areas that take you into 4inch weeds or burned out areas with only weed bushes that hide your ball. Rough areas along the fairways are 4 inches deep so you cannot find your ball. When and if the course gets in good shape the layout and challenge of the course is great. Valley is interesting and good design. Mountain is a great 9 holes anywhere.

great greens

Fairly tight fairways with small greens that are in excellent shape. Moderate course difficulty. If you are going to play soon, hole 6 (their sig hole) is being rebuilt. Short course good ego builder. Slicers will not care for the course. Can't say enough about the greens. Some of the best in the valley.

Simple course for easy play

This course is very player friendly. Be sure to take ice and water with you. The course has noooo shade and the water jugs have terrible tasting water. If you go prepared it is a friendly play worth the GN rates.

One of the BEST Values in the Valley

Course was immaculate. Driving range balls are supplied free. Don't let the shop and restaurant deter you, it's old. Any fee under $30 jump on it. We played for a lot less. Gary did a fantastic job on this course. Blacks (7000) extremely challenging. Blues (6500) very difficult. Silvers (6000+) moderately challenging. We played silvers and had a nice time except for our bad swings. Greens are still in great condition and roll very well. Don't give the hole away much. A wonderfully scenic course well laid out.

Nice play

Course is well manicured and very scenic. Greens are on the slow side but roll very well. It is a player friendly course even from the teal tees (6200). Don't give away the hole very much. You will enjoy the course. Crowded in the am, but play after noon and just keep hydrated. Good play for less than $25. If you want a $30 challenge try Escena great Nicklaus course in the area.

No Pressure Golf

Great course for a nice easy relaxing round. This course should build your ego (score under 80). The only real drawback is carts need to be in by 2PM and Golf Now tee times mean you get about 12-14 holes. Greens are a little firm, allow a bounce, but roll well. Greens usually run above average speed. Player friendly course.

Nice course but very unfair.

Had player course before, but did not remember the unfairness of the course being so dramatic. Lots of extreme elevation changes. This would not be a bad thing except that all the downhill shots go into the hazard or OB, because you cannot figure out how far you have to underclub because of the extreme rollout. The uphill shots are so extreme that if you don't hit the exact spot the ball rolls back 40 to 60 yards to the flat. Then the few fairways left are so sloped sideways it might stay in bounds. I love the beauty of the course, but it is just too unfair and unrewarding to enjoy playing.

Average course, Great conditions, Overpriced

Played creek/oaks. Creek 9 very boring. Oaks 9 very nice and challenging from blues. Course condition was very good, bordering excellent. I think stonehouse 9 would be the best 9. I didn't get to play it. If you could play Oaks/Stonehouse it would be worth it.

Very Repetitive

Tried course due to pricing and reference by golfing acuaintance. Course was thin turf, but greens were very nice and very fast and difficult to read. The holes became very look alike. There are power lines over many fairways and poles in the middle of some fairways. A mediocre course with difficult greens. Hot dog, soda and chips deal for an inflated price of 7.95 or solo dog for 4.95.

Beauty and the Beast

This is a great course to play. Blue tees, 6250 yds, can be a beast if you aren't 240 and straight. Very scenic course. Usually great weather, but we had 20 mph winds all day, whites would have been a better choice, but did manage to ACE #17. Greens could have been a little softer, but good speed 10-10.5?
