Championship at Buffalo Hill Golf Club
Played On 09/06/2022Good course, a couple issues
Course is fun to play with a variety of holes. Tee off out of chutes, some elevation changes, some with water, some wide open. Overall a good course. Great condition with the exception of #3 green. Here are the issues: generic pin flags and no daily pin placement charts available. Not that big of problem on some holes, but there are several blind approaches (elevated greens etc). Would be an easy fix for a course that bills itself as a championship course. 5-somes. Course allows them and I don't typically have an issue IF THEY KEEP UP. Obviously the 5-some we followed didn't. If you are going to allow this, a course marshall needs to be deployed.

Played On 09/04/2022Pretty decent
Huge 5 mile car jam into Glacier on Labor Fay weekend, so we were very close to being late but the staff were doing their best to juggle golfers around and make the best of a situation out of anyones control. All staff were friendly and accommodating. Course was in good condition overall. Another course that did away with covered flags to denote pin placement. All generics flags now. No worries though, count on the flag being 4 feet from the front of the green behind a false front .weirdest pin placements ever. It is a fun course for a family outing.

Played On 08/30/2022Great course, fix the flag thing
We have played BH many times over the years and enjoy the course. Course was in great shape, and staff were all very friendly. Consistent over the years in this regard. My only critique: They apparently eliminated the designated flags for pin placement. All yellow flags now. You have no idea if it is front/back/middle etc. On some holes you can obviously figure it out, but on some holes (blind ones) it is just a guess. Lots of courses use the pin placement chart system if they want to go with generic flags. Would that be too difficult? Overall the course was great as expected but sort out the pin thing please.

Played On 11/18/2019Slow play on a nice day
We played yesterday and had a fantastic time so decided to book the next day.. You would think playng Monday would be a better pace than Sunday but far from it. We were behind a VERY slow group of 5 , likely members of the club if you can get away with a fivesome. Its as if they purposely played slow, standing around looking at each other and discussing whose turn to hit. We encountered another member in the parking lot and I thought my cart was possibly in her way so offered to move it. YIKES,, apparently one should not try and be pleasant to the locals baed on the response I got for offering to move my cart. Anyway its a great course if you can avoid the locals. This does not include the golf staff, they were great. Course conditions were really good and it is a fair but challenging course.

We tee'd off at 10:52 am in perfect weather Good advise received from the friendly staff about the greens (speed and tendencies to roll). Good practice facility on site as well. The views are spectacular for a course meadering through a valley and housing It is an out and back style course for each 9. The houes do not detract at all from the layout and are not a problem or distraction like some subdivision style courses. This is likely due to the mature trees throughout. Well placed bunkers are on each hole and reasonably tight without feeling like it was tight. Typical Robert Trent Jone Sr style with most holes playing as a dogleg.. The greens were very fast and you should believe the advise the golf staff give you about rolling away from the mtn. I would definitely recommend this course if in the area, a real treat to play. I am a 10 hdcp and shot 82 from the blues at 6352 so a very fair course all around. They had some real tough pin placements on a few of the holes so beware. The 15th is a 355 yd par 4. Sounds simple enough but it is the #2 handicap hole and is well deserving. A great course overall!
Wow, we are so happy you enjoyed your round, u573845145! Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review about our course! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Played On 11/12/2019Perfect day at Bears Best
We had a 1:10 t-time which during mid November is OK for 16 holes. We did 18 but the last two were quite dark. The pace was 4:20 overall.. Conditions were very good. Staff are friendly. I gave 4* for value because although we got a good deal for the golf via GolfNow, a beer was $9 which seems a bit steep.. I rated 4* for pace because I think starters should make recommendations on proper tee's for people to play based on handicap. I am a 10 and played to Green at 6628. You see guys out there playing those tee's, or even the 7200 yard tees that should never be back there. Move up and stop looking for your ball on every hole.
Wonderful! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Bear's Best Las Vegas. We appreciate your feedback and we look forward to seeing you at the course soon for another 5-star experience!

The fairways are the absolute best you will ever find: not cut too short like many course do but so very consistent and perfect. The greens hold some very severe undulations so hit the practice green beforehand as it is a true test of what’s to come. The course architecture is great and is a real treat to play, there are some traps and collection areas you will want to avoid. Lots of variety on each hole. Some you could bomb it, some required very specific placement off the tee. We had a confirmed tee time at 11:48 but upon arriving were told that there was a ladies group that somehow took precedence over our booked and paid for time, so we waited for about 45 minutes. Not a big deal as we practiced a bit longer on their first rate practice facility but that was a bit of a surprise to be told that.

A brief thunderstorm delay, but overall a very good experience.
Course conditions were average- greens kind of rough and bumpy; some areas that the irrigation doesn't get too on the fairways (dry spots), and nobody rakes any of the sand traps?? Overall I gave conditions 4 stars as other than these specific things it was pretty good. It is a fun and challenging track, and helps to have some previous course knowledge.

Played On 04/24/2018Good early season conditions
Picked it up on a Hot Deal. I typically golf Buffalo Hills once or twice a year. It is mostly a tight layout with a few elevation changes with few 'easy ' holes.
For April the condirions were good, greens excellent. Good luck with your sandbagging efforts down along #6, hope the river stays beyond the berm! Staff are always friendly here and accomodated us by sending us out 20 minutes early and giving us a couple range tokens.

I really enjoyed the course . The practice area was quite good with range, chipping, trap, and large practice green. There was some issue with our booking in that our t-time was apparently in the middle of a tournament. We therefore had to wait about 45 minutes to tee off past our time. Not sure who was to blame so we sat around and waited. Maybe you could comp guests a bucket of balls or something if you are going to have them wait around for 45 min past their tee time. Just a suggestion. That would cost the course nothing really. The course conditions were OK: tee boxes a bit long but lush, faiways kind of sparse but OK and playable. and lots of roll out; greens where kind of slow but in very good condition and you could stop a ball on the green OK. The ninth is a real challenge, would like a replay there. It is a mature scenic course with style of the 70's. Overall I thought the course was challenging, decent value, and would play it again.
Bear's Best Las Vegas
Played On 03/28/2017Great coure
I really looked forward to the course and was not disappointed. Quite challenging, especially this being the first time. Conditions on the course were great, but so many people lack the basic courtesy of fixing their ball marks. The round was 4:45 so a little bit slow, but not terrible. Likely because they don't play the right tee's for their handicap which I find is the most common cause of slow golf. We essentially finished in the dark. All the staff were friendly and great to deal with. The layout is lots of fun to play. Got it for $50 on Golf Now, not sure I'd pay full price though.
Mojave Resort Golf Club
Played On 03/26/2017Nice course
Very interesting layout, the last 3 holes were particularly nice/scenic/challenging. Greens were not fast but in good overall condition, as were the fairways. A very enjoyable round. The starter was friendly and looked to pair us with another couple which was great service. There was a twosome and a single sent out right after us. We let the play through and after that we had nobody in front or behind us for the round (4 hr round). Carts had good GPS helpful since it was our first time here. 4 sets of tee's, but maybe not quite enough distance separates them. I would play again if in the area.
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 03/14/2017Design-thumbs up; Conditions-thumbs down
It is a very well designed challenging layout. The front 9 is more open, and the back 9 has some mature tree lined fairways. The greens were very good, tee boxes- needed mowing, fairways- OK, but much of the rough was 6" long. You had the well maintained green, then the usual 3' apron also well cut, then this 6" rough. Also weeds growing everywhere in the rough. The mesquite bushes growing alongside the course was a gnarly mess. In general the overall lack of maintenance was very apparent. The staff we encountered were all very friendly.

Played On 03/06/2017Not bad, but there are better
Mature course, played slow for the first 6 holes, then pace picked up to average. likely due to design with a par 5 opening, then a 200yard par 3 and tough third. Total time was 4:40. Fairways were below average, but greens were great. All staff were extremely friendly. Layout was good, a design from the '60's. not too tight but lined with houses throughout the course.
Hi "u573845145" thank you for the great review. We appreciate the great review. We are constantly working on course conditions and pace of play so we appreciate the feedback during our peak season. Thanks and hope to see you again soon.
Your feedback is important to us! We are sorry to hear you may have had a negative experience with any other golfers at our course. This is not acceptable and by no means the atmosphere we strive to achieve. Thank you for understanding and still sharing your 5-star experience though. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Oakcreek Country Club.
