Colorado National Golf Club

Let's see--a driveable p4, forced carries, a couple of blind shots, multi-tiered greens, water, one of the longest, but playable, p5 holes anywhere. FANTASTIC conditions and a layout to match. I'd play here every day if I could.
TPC Colorado
Played On 07/07/2020How do I become a member!
The Korn Ferry Tour was just in town and final day's pins were still in place--What a test!! The greens may have been the best I've ever seen. Fairways were impressive too. Great practice facility, friendly staff. If you play the black tees, beware: 727yd p5, 258yd p4, and the 18th is a 500yd p4!! I was +6 on the day, 5 of those strokes were lost on those 3 holes.
Quintero Golf Club
Played On 06/19/2020As tough as they come
What. A. Course. Wonderfull greens, spectacular elevation changes, beautiful setting. And hard. Pay attention to the slope/rating for your tees if you aren't looking to beat yourself up all day.
Monument at Troon North Golf Club
Played On 09/18/2019WOW! Both good and bad
The good--Gorgeous setting!! Great layout with some very challenging shots! I could do without the mega-mansions all over the course, but they too were impressive! The greens were receptive, fast and rolled very nicely except for all the unrepaired ball marks. This was a 1:15 tee time, so the course had seen a fair amount of usage by then. The one bunker I was in had excellent sand. Lots of water coolers on the course. All the staff members were friendly and helpful.
The bad--To start, the range was pretty beaten up, and the golf balls looked like chew toys collected from the local humane society. Fairways were the worst I've played on in a long time--sparse grass, muddy, unfilled divots. I don't understand how Troon gets away with charging what they do with conditions like this. I found a seemingly great deal to play this renowned course ($43), but would not return at half that rate.
Desert Springs Golf Club
Played On 09/18/2018Quality and playability
One of four golf courses in the Sun City Grand neighborhood, and you can always count on a great golf experience. Conditions are generally top-notch, and the courses offer a fair challenge balanced with playability for everyone. It seems they are prepping for overseed, so fairways and greens are a little firmer/faster than a week ago.
Local tip--combo tee boxes are available online. I don't understand why they aren't on the scorecards.
Quintero Golf Club
Played On 08/01/2018WOW!
Where to start? The setting is fantastic. Secluded, quiet--there are only a few times you may be made aware of other golfers anywhere nearby. The layout is challenging, so don't expect to come here for your first visit and "go low". It's probably too hard (some of the bunkers are brutal), but I enjoy a good test.
Visually the course is stunning, with lots of elevation changes and undulations. The greens are tough--fast, but fair. One surprise, lots of un-repaired ball marks. This isn't a cheap course and I'd expect better etiquette.
I love the water and ice stations, which are an ice and water machine, so you never roll up to an empty water jug. (It was 110 F today) But there is only one per side, so fill up when they appear!
The practice facility is top notch, but arrive early for your round if you plan to take advantage. It's got to be 1.5 miles from the pro shop.
This course should high on your to-do list!

Enjoyed it enough to come back a 2nd consecutive day!
South at Antelope Hills Golf Course
Played On 07/29/2018Great escape from the Phoenix heat!
Fun day of golf. Fairways were firm and fast and gifted me a couple of LONG (for me) drives. The greens were fantastic. They rolled well, not too fast, and didn't have many un-repaired ball marks.
A few dings: there could have been more water jugs on the course, and I didn't see a ranger all day. Finally, why do you allow 5-somes? I can maybe understand if it's 5 solid local golfers, but that was soooo not the case here.
Thank you for the 4 star rating and feedback. Love hearing that the conditions were to your liking. We'll address the other items and see if we can do a better job next time that you're out. We appreciate your feedback!
Lookout Mountain Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2017Not typical Troon quality
The Troon courses I've played in the past always left me wanting more. In particular, course conditions have always been 5-star. Not this course. The upside, it's a fun layout with some spectacular elevation changes--a mountain style course minutes from the city.
fcpncgc,
Thank you for taking the time to review Lookout Mountain Golf Course. We appreciate the feedback, both positive and negative. Obviously, we fell short of your expectations regarding our course conditions and would like to learn more. Please email us at matt.nagel@hilton.com if you would like to elaborate your experience. Thank you again. We look forward to your future visits!
Riverview Golf Course
Played On 03/03/2017Poor experience, slow
Five-somes seem to be a regular occurence at Sun City courses, and I'm tired of getting stuck behind them. No ranger to be seen. The greens here are rather challenging, which doesn't help with pace of play. In general the house is rock-hard--greens were difficult to hold, and taking a divot in the fairways was almost painful. What looked like a great deal turned out to be a day of standing around, waiting, with four and five groups on a hole at many times.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 02/09/2017Frustrating greens
The greens needed a trim on some holes, needed some grass on others, some were okay. Enjoyed the course otherwise. Would return on the hopes that the greens had improved, but would more likely return to the north course.
North Golf Course at Sun City
Played On 02/03/2017Good value!
The biggest ding on the course was they sent our group out as a 5-some. I don't appreciate that--I feel rushed to keep the pace of a normal 4-some.
4 stars overall if we had been a 4-some.
The greens were in great shape, the fairways were nice, and bunkers had good sand. I'd return.
Union Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/17/2016Good golf
Not in the finest condition, but a fun and fair test of golf.
Golf Granby Ranch
Played On 09/15/2015Phenomenal layout, but signs of neglect
What a wonderful layout!!
The front nine is relatively flat and open, with beautiful mountain backdrops. Shot selection is straight forward--what you see is what you get.
The back nine follows the contours of the surrounding hills, making for some exciting elevation changes and challenging blind shots.
On the negative side, the greens from front to back were quite variable, and some of the sand traps are turning into grass bunkers. There was no food and beverage service the day we played.
Ralph Myhre Golf Course
Played On 07/28/2015Good setting
There's a great variety of holes here, the terrain is excellent!
Was sent out as a single, in a cart, which made for a round that felt "slow".
Woodstock Country Club
Played On 07/18/2015Fun course, interesting history
Great old course, just wish there was a little more space between some of the holes.
Yes this is 120th anniversary at the Woodstock Country Club and we to wish we had a little more real estate to work with at times. I am happy to hear you would recommend this course to others and hope to see you on our links again. Mention this review and receive a free bucket of balls to use at our practice facility.
Ranch Golf Course at Pole Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/13/2015A mountain course must-play!
Great course, with three distinct nines--the Ridge is my favorite, with frequent elevation changes and some challenging blind shots. Well worth the drive from Denver, especially on a hot summer's day.
Antler Creek Golf Course
Played On 05/17/2015Better experiences elsewhere
The course is fair and fun except for a 4-hole stretch called "The Gauntlet", holes 9 thru 12 I believe. This was reason enough not to play here again. Add to that the rough course conditions, and golfers beware!
On a positive note, the greens were in much better shape than the rest of the course. Putts rolled nicely, although VERY slowly.
Four Mile Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/11/2015Fun layout!
Four Mile can be tricky, with a fair number of blind shots, but the variety in the layout is great. But the shots to blind greens are into punch bowls, so just get it in the zip code! The conditions were a little rough-- early season, maybe?
Siena Golf Course
Played On 02/27/2015Nice course, needs some work
Fun layout, mixed course conditions--some parts were in great shape, other parts need repair (some of which were under repair when I played).
Thanks for the great rating and feedback! We appreciate your support. Hope to see you again soon!
