Sedona Golf Resort
Played On 09/19/2019Enjoy the views of Sedona
We played today on a very windy day, winds blowing 15 to 20 with gusts of 30, making club selection very challenging. The views of the Sedona mountains were spectacular with significant elevation changes. The reason we didn’t give the course better ratings was primarily due to conditions of the traps and bare spots in the fairways.
Monument at Troon North Golf Club
Played On 09/12/2019Troon North is one of the Scottsdale areas finest.
My wife and I played the Pinnacle course at Troon North today with two other male golfers. We played in a little over 4 hours, when considering that we didn’t know the course and the level of difficulty, was very good. When we checked in, the employee behind the counter indicated that because they are about to go through the over seeding process, the course was not in pristine condition and hence we received a 15% discount. The greens were perfect, the only weakness in the conditions was some bare spots in the fairways, which was easily resolved by moving you ball to a grassy area.
Their pro shop is fully stocked and our lunch after our round, including our Bloody Mary’s made for a perfect day.
Eagle Mountain Golf Club
Played On 09/10/2019First time playing but would recommend.
My wife and I played today as a twosome behind a foursome. Pace of play was good, 3 1/2 hours, including several holes that were cart path only and the cart path being oftentimes a long hilly walk. The food was very good in the grill and very reasonably priced.
Shell Point Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2018Good course for the money
The grass on the greens is very thick, but they roll much slower than the 9.5 that they say that they were running. The course layout is challenging and quite enjoyable.
Shell Point Golf Club
Played On 04/02/2018This course is in great shape.
They have a great practice facility where the driving range is not an aqua range. The clubhouse is quite new and the course is quite challenging. Although they stated that the greens were running at 9.5, they seemed slower than that. Given the lack of rain for months, the conditions were very good.
River Hall Country Club
Played On 03/11/2018Good course for the money
This is a fair and open course where it is pretty darn to loose a ball. Pace of play was good, the major downside is just that it is quite a ways out.
South/East at Spanish Wells Country Club
Played On 03/09/2018This course is improving.
Played this course two years ago and it was in terrible shape. Last year it had made efforts to bring the course back and now that the residents of Spanish Wells own the club, they are back on the right path. In my review, I was making comparisons between public and private courses. Public courses need to fill their courses during the time that snow birds are here, So you have to expect slower play.
Treasure Hills Golf Club
Played On 11/05/2017This course is the worst that I have ever played
This course received decent reviews so we decided to give it a try. When we got there, we were already let down. The course had untold bare spots in the fairway and the greens were even worse. The pro shop was nothing to speak about. Even though we didn’t pay very much, that was too much. In some cases, the women’s tee boxes were just cut down rough with two tee markers.
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 09/12/2017This course was in excellent condition.
My wife and I played this course with an early morning tee time. Since we had no one in front of us, we played in just over 3 hours. I really enjoyed the way that they have the tees so close to the cart path and yet they were sometimes hard to find. Elevation changes were very good, especially hole number 3 which only played to a little over one hundred yards, but plays over a ravine that is probably 200 feet deep.
If I have a negative, it is that as a non Resort player, you have to park at the Loews lodge and then take the golf cart nearly a mile to the course. Having said that though, I rate Ventana Canyon as the best course to play in Tucson.
Palmetto-Pine Country Club
Played On 03/17/2017Disappointed
Played this course last year. When we played it last year, the conditions were wet and some holes were even shortened due to standing water. This year it was just the opposite, fairways were so dry that there were a lot of bare spots. Also found the greens to be somewhat bumpy causing putts to veer offline unless hit very firmly. Considering that we drove nearly an hour to play the course, I wouldn't do it again.
South/East at Spanish Wells Country Club
Played On 03/13/2017The course is coming back
Played South then East. A year ago the course was suffering from serious neglect. The bank has stepped in and with new staff, things are turning around. My only complaint was that the greens were recently verticut and they weren't covered with enough sand.
There were times when your put would follow the verticut lines instead of the contour or grain of the Bermuda.
Lehigh Resort Club
Played On 03/03/2017Too far out
Went to play Lehigh Resort Golf Course. My fault, but I failed to notice that my 18 holes was to be the result of playing the same 9 twice. Staff was very friendly, but even though we paid for eighteen holes, we decided that playing it once was enough.
This course continues to need more work.
My wife and I played Copperhead yesterday. This is probably the third or fourth time that we have played it in as many years. The greens had a lot of bare spots and played very slow. Tees and fairways were also disappointing. For the money, we expected more. This is probably our last time. We played with two great gentlemen that made the experience more tolerable.
Quail Run Golf Club
Played On 02/03/2017This course is good as an ego booster
This is a very short course, but it is in fairly good shape. Greens were a little slow, but rolled true. There were places where they had over watered. Felt that the price that we paid was a little high for what you got. I recognize that we are playing in Naples in high season.
Maui Nui Golf Club
Played On 10/11/2016Reasonable golf in Maui
This was our second visit to Maui Nui. Our condo is in Kaanapali, so this course represents a drive of 45 to 55 minutes, depending on traffic. The girls in the pro shop were very efficient, as was the service in the restaurant. The driving range is adequate, but nothing to brag about. The biggest challenge on the second round was the 25 mile per hour winds, causing the need to club up sometimes by as much as 4 or 5 clubs. With courses like Kapalua costing nearly ten times more, and when you and your wife both golf, you need an affordable round of golf to balance the cost of golf on the island and Maui Nui fits the bill.
Snow Mountain at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 09/22/2015The only course on this trip that wasn't cart path only.
Course was in good shape and my wife and I were paired with two gentlemen who were great to play with
Eagle Crest Golf Club
Played On 05/09/2015TJ44
The course had a decent layout, but with the watering restrictions, ther were a lot of bare spots, even in the fairways.
Creek/Oaks at Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort
Played On 05/04/2015Great views and excellent conditions.
This was our second 18 hole round since arriving in San Diego. Contrary to our first round that was at a course that wasn't able to water due to the draught, this course was lush and green. The greens weren't exceptionally fast, but the were probably rolling out around a nine on the stump meter. Because they have their own well, everything was very green and they even had a few waterfalls for scenic amenities. The restaurant features a signature Bloody Mary that was very good, as were their sandwiches. This is definitely a course that I will go back to.
Crooked Cat at Orange County National
Played On 04/01/2015A very playable yet challenging course.
My wife and I played the Crooked Creek course at Orange County National on April 1st. We were paired with another player who hadn't played for about a month, but as a 2 handicap played the course very well. I am a 10 and my wife is a 17 and we both found the course to be long but fair. Pace of play was good, at less than 4 hours, and they have the largest driving range that we have ever seen. It looked like both a girls and boys high school golf team use this facility but with over 100 people using the range, it wasn't even 25% occupied. All in all, this was a very favorable golfing experience.
Hibiscus Golf Club
Played On 03/08/2015This course leaves a lot to be desired.
Course has seen better days. Greens were OK, but fairways and course conditions were disappointing.
Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review! We appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon!
