Makalei Golf Club

Played On 11/07/2022Great staff at a great course!
First time playing Shadow Hills South. We found a great price ($55) for an afternoon tee time (1:30 pm) knowing that we could not finish the round and treated it more as a 9-hole experience. As it ended up, we were able to play 13 holes and really enjoyed the course ... what a great find. But what made it even a more enjoyable round was the staff. Guys in the pro shop were very friendly. The starter was even better, arranging for us to go out 15 minutes early. But the most revealing part of our experience came when the starter learned that my wife had recently tore a muscle in her shoulder and couldn't play ... so he arranged for us to get a rain check and then she was still allowed to ride along with myself and the other couple playing with us. How nice! Before our round we had a beer at the outside small cafe ... very nice and very reasonable. After our round we noticed that the restaurant was very busy and went by to check it out. It was a Monday Night Football event with specials. We couldn't stay, but it certainly looked like a good spot. Bottom line ... great course (challenging, but fair) in great condition run by some very friendly and helpful staff who wanted us to enjoy our experience. We already have booked a future round!
The Classic Club
Played On 12/06/2021It's A Top Tier Experience!
We are two couples who have always wanted to play The Classic Club. I've been a Tee-Off user for quite a few years and we found a rare 'Deal Time' slot about a week before playing. We also had a 20% off code, so it brought the price down from the street rate of $175 to $115/pp. Our experience at Classic Club was top-notch all the way through. Great staff and great service. We travel with two sets of clubs in one cart bag and thus needed a day loaner bag, which was no problem at CC (cart staff had extra bag ready). We played in a little over 4 hours+ (teeing off around 11:45 a.m.). Practice area(s) were excellent. Course was in excellent condition and several holes had water to cross over which were challenging, but not unfair. We had dinner afterward where you could go simple to elegant. Had a very good burger that was perfectly prepared. Drinks were excellent as well. We have played most of the top courses in Palm Springs (Desert Willow, Indian Wells, PGA West, Silverrock) and this was the best experience of all thus far! It was a real treat!
Blue Heron Golf Course
Played On 11/02/2020Much Improved; A Pleasant Surprise
Used to play here years ago when it was the old Carnation golf Course. Now it's the Blue Heron and it is a good public course that we found maintained well and priced very well. It's a great course for beginners with a low-key feeling and yet also offers plenty of challenge for low handicapped players. We were glad we gave it a try and will be adding it to our places to play in the future.
Waikoloa Village Golf Club
Played On 02/08/2019Great Staff; Great Course
What a great course and staff! Tom, the manager, really took care of us (two couples in a four-some). We had booked through a golf booking service and, as a result, there are no refunds if it's raining or windy unless you cancel 24 hours ahead.. We were to play in a few days when a large storm was scheduled to come through. We called and thought about cancelling. However, Tom went out of his way to find a slot for us two days prior to the storm and made sure we weren't charged any rebooking fees. He even called me the night before at 6:00 p.m. to confirm I was all taken care of! Talk about GREAT service. The day we arrived, it was beautiful and busy. Tom made sure we were set and we ended up with a GREAT experience! We went out on time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We have played the course several times over the years and it was in great shape this year (early February, 2019) with fairways mowed well and the greens in excellent condition. All staff we encountered including at the bag drop, club house, on the course, and afterward were friendly and really appreciative of our business. It was a perfect day on a perfect course! Bravo to the 'tone'; as they say, "it starts at the top". Thank you Tom & Staff.
Shadow Mountain Golf Club
Played On 12/02/2017Shorter, But Challenging & Beautiful Condition
We're average golfers who wanted a shorter course to warm up on the first day we arrived in Palm Springs. I read reviews on the course and generally they seemed positive. We found a great price on Golf Now and booked it. We were not disappointed! The staff were great. We needed a loaner bag since we travel with two sets of clubs (mine and my wife's) in one bag for airplane travel. Jennifer (manager?) was GREAT. She found a bag for us and was so helpful with directions/tips about the course. We were greeted at the bag drop with great service including running a cart right to our card. The starter was helpful and allowed us to leave a little early. The course itself was in SUPER condition ... very nice fairways and excellent rolled greens that were fast, but fair. While there were some fairways that were a bit narrow/tight, you're rewarded for accuracy. Playing this course with shorter, but straighter drives and careful fairway wood shots is smart. There are nice amenities (bathrooms, ball cleaners, etc) throughout the course. And, how nice to have an ice machine with cups/lids and cold water before teeing off near the clubhouse. In summary, this was a GREAT experience and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. For those of you who are 'big hitters' (and can be 'long and wrong') then perhaps this isn't your course. We are bogey golfers and found plenty of challenge! Great staff, great course, great afternoon ... a 3.5 hour round for an 18-hole round was great. Thanks staff at Shadow Mountain for a great start to our golfing vacation!
Waikoloa Village Golf Club
Played On 03/07/2017Great Value Depending; Friendly Staff
Got a great hot deal and paid $50. A very good price/value for this course. I don't believe it warrants up to the $100 it is in the morning. But, the staff was great; friendly and welcoming. The greens were very good and the fairways in nice shape. Several holes offer very nice expansive views toward the ocean. The day we played it was not blowing (this area evidently has a reputation for being windy) and the threatening clouds/rain showers never showed up (in fact, it made it much more pleasant in temperature). Definitely a very good course that was fun to play (we were two couples). The one semi-negative is that many of the bunkers contain coral (some have sand) and it not only 'sails' a ball that hits it on the fly, but makes it very tough to hit out of. Overall, a good experience!
Thank you for your kind words. We are so pleased to read you have added us to your list of places to play! We cannot wait to welcome you back!
