Castle Creek Country Club
Played On 02/20/2018Has seen much better days...for sure......
I used to play here a lot in late 90's and 00's....rarely now.....it is a great layout.....but the previous owner, let it go badly....they're now recovering the greens and I'm sure it will be fine.....now that Fallbrook closed it's one of the few great old courses left in this area......Welk is nice, but an executive course and Pala Mesa Resort is very nice, but lots of slow play. Hoping that CCCC makes a big comeback.
Rolling Hills Golf Course
Played On 01/17/2018Very nice, good value....friendly staff
The course was challenging and interesting in terms of layout......enough breaks in greens to challenge.....and some water with nice views. The back nine is more challenging and different from the front....so you won't get bored......will return. On a personal note though, it's a tough one to find for a 1st timer from up north a bit......as are most courses in Tucson, not located right off the 10.....have to drive in a ways.....logistics make it a little inconvenient.....but still a very good day all around........thanks.
Springfield Golf Resort
Played On 10/31/2017As always, very good conditions
Fine condition, good pace, nice conditions after the over seed....cart path only, not onerous at all.
Welk Resort San Diego - Fountains Executive Course
Played On 10/17/2017Excellent executive layout.......
Have played here many times over many years...always in great condition....and it's always a challenge.....greens are fast and being on the side of a mountain, they're challenging to putt.....great staff.
Greenfield Lakes Golf Course
Played On 09/08/2017Dave White Municipal Golf Course
Played On 08/14/2017One half the course closed due to flooding....didn't play.
........half the course was opened but they didn't know when times would be booked.....the person at the desk had virtually no information....just said it was flooded by the Santa Rosa wash runoff.
Robson Ranch Golf Club
Played On 07/15/2017Springfield Golf Resort
Played On 03/23/2017Excellent Condition, and helpful staff....
....the course was recommended by another couple I had played with elsewhere.....they were spot on....it's a great course and well maintained.....the weather was less than perfect since it had just finished storming, but overall drainage was pretty good. It's a nice track which tests you, but doesn't exhaust you.....there is ample water on the course of a hazard nature, but luckily I missed them. I'd have rated it excellent except for the blind approaches to some greens and you can't see the greens at all from some good lies because of severe mounding....but it still is great to play. The condition was SUPERB....and the greens superb, as well. I'll be back for certain....it'll be interesting to see how it looks in July and August after some baking....it is AZ, after all.
Dave White Municipal Golf Course
Played On 09/30/2015Course being renovated.......
I've played here before....the course when fully available if very good....now it's mediocre to average at best....I was expecting to play as a single in a couple of hours....but made to play with 3 older gents, two of whom, were fine....was a grumpy old man......I played the blues, they the whites, so I spent a lot of time waiting....all in all it was not worth the money, given that the other CG courses are far better layouts....but given that it's over seeding time your choices are limited. Once the course is fully open....it's worth it, right now, no way no how. It's run by the city.....so what can you expect? Look elsewhere, or be prepared for a slow, somewhat mediocre round. It's playing to a par 68, 109 slope from the tips.......???
San Miguel Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2015Challenging, greens in very good shape.
I've played this course several times over 5 seasons....the greens are in very nice shape....the fairways ok, given they're closing in a few weeks for the summer. It's a very nice layout and is challenging for all skill levels......I played from the green tees @ 6600 yards....and it's a test....but worth the effort. The staff is very good....and although I haven't eaten there this time....the new restaurant is very good. I'll be back!!
Welk Resort San Diego - Fountains Executive Course
Played On 11/11/2014Always excelllent......
This course is kept in magnificent condition....the greens were as good as I've ever seen them and I've played there over the past 10 years many times......good pace of play and for an executive layout it's clearly one of the best anywhere......can't play there as often a I like but when I'm back in CA from AZ, I always try to get there.....along with Pala Mesa Resort and Castle Creek.....great golf in north SD county.
Francisco Grande Resort & Golf Club
Played On 02/03/2014Very good conditions.....
and it's busy at this time of year with the visitors....pace of play was good, but started very early, and it was cold.....it does get busy with all the snowbirds though.......maintenance is very good and the greens were mostly in good shape. There are a couple that still need some work, but all in all, a very good value.
Tierra Grande Country Club
Played On 11/26/2013Well maintained......
over seeding just completed, and while it was very wet from all the recent rain, it held the water pretty well. Lots of mud off the fairways, not uncommon in this part of AZ......we'll be back. It's a par 67 track, so not exactly an executive course, nor a big course....in between....manageable par 4s and 5s.....fun....and not too crowded.
Pala Mesa Resort
Played On 9/24/2013Outstanding layout, always a challenge.....
....it's recovered nicely since the big fire took out so many trees, and is a very beautiful and peaceful track to play.....always a challenge, lots of mature trees, and a couple of holes which make you talk to yourself......pay attention to the green slopes away from the mountains/hills.....land it on the right side and you can score if not....3 putts are common.
Mission Royale Golf Club
Played On 5/08/2013Terrific course, and plays like a links in many respects......
there is challenge on nearly every hole.....and if you land it in the wrong place on the greens or fairways you'll work very hard for a par.....I've played here for about 4 years now, and once the snowbirds leave, it can't be beat.....when the visitors are in town you'll have many 4hr+ rounds....so I skip it in the winter. Great course, and great value. Cheers.
Greenfield Lakes Golf Course
Played On 4/16/2013Very poor condtions, so dry that it's almost gone.......
It was in good shape earlier in the year......now the Snowbirds are gone, and they let it go to heck.....very, very poor. Supposedly the pumps to water are down......but I think they just save money on water when the winter folks leave.....it's not in any kind of shape and it's only April.....in another month it'll be unplayable.
