Cresent Point seems to have fallen somewhat on hard times.

CP seems to have somewhat fallen on hard times. The cart paths in particular are in terrible shape. Arnie would not be pleased with what his design has become. .

Nice course. Warning: Denim not allowed

Old South is a quality public golf course. Be advised, however, that denim and denim like clothing products cannot be worn on Old South. If you arrive at the course wearing denim or denim like clothing, you will be informed of the no denim policy when you attempt to check in in the pro shop. Your choices then are to either leave and return not wearing denim or denim like products , or purchase a pair of non-denim shorts or pants in the pro shop.

We appreciate your 4 star review and regret you were not aware of the "no denim" policy. That has been a long standing rule at Old South and is standard for most golf courses in resort areas.

Rose Hill is ignoring corona virus related public health advisories warning

Rose Hill requires two riders per golf cart, in direct contravention of recent public health advisories to maintain six feet of separation between individuals during the corona virus pandemic. A management representative maintained that there would not be enough carts for all golfers wishing to ride if one rider per cart were allowed. However, when we finished our round mid-afternoon today, there were many golf carts sitting in the cart staging area unused.

Thanks for your review. It’s possible that your review was written in the early days of the closures when our corona cart policies were being developed, and so influenced the policy itself - so thank you. But in any case, it’s a bit unfair to assert that we were ignoring Corona virus related public health advisories… We have taken measures to eliminate or reduce common touch points such as ball washers, bunker rakes, and water coolers which have been removed from certainly all local courses that are open. Likewise, we took precautions to reduce the temptation to remove the flags by inverting the golf hole liners so balls could still be “holed” but would remain within easy reach of your gloved hand. We sanitize carts between uses with approved Covid 19 killing disinfectants and around the time of your review began to offer the opportunity for individual use carts for non-players who do not reside together.

The fact is that there are not enough carts for us to give all players their own carts without having a significant negative impact on the golf operation. So when physical distancing guidelines were announced but not mandated, we instituted a policy of allowing individual cart usage as a personal choice with a modest surcharge. $5 for nine holes and $10 for eighteen holes. Once physical distancing became mandatory, and in recognition that it was no longer a matter of personal choice, we eliminated the surcharge entirely. Now that physical distancing guidelines are again a personal choice, the surcharge has been reinstated. This policy is posted at the door and counter and discussed with customers at check-in.

It is important to state that the surcharge was not an arbitrary attempt to pick up revenue. In fact, it falls well short of making us whole for the expense of the individual cart option. Namely, double the fuel, double the wear and tear, and double the maintenance costs of operating the fleet. Beyond those costs, and as you well know, owing to course improvements and a highly effective marketing campaign, we are now fortunate enough to be able to book nearly all desirable tee times, running well over two-hundred rounds each day routinely. No course sustains a two-hundred-plus-cart fleet and although we have added locally available carts to our fleet at significant expense (increasing our fleet to 62 golf carts) - individual carts cut the opportunity to have players on the course by half and every one of these unused tee times represents the certain loss of revenue. Not counting the above mentioned additional fuel, wear and tear, and added maintenance costs, individual carts cost us between $15 and $49 in lost revenue opportunity each time an individual rider cart goes out. This is a truly unsustainable loss of over 40% of the daily revenue to the course.

Secondly, the State has again modified physical distancing mandates by providing specific but varied guidelines for different business sectors. While physical distancing remains desirable, the State recognizes that it is not always reasonable and present guidelines now allow close person to person contact and up to ten persons in close proximity. This as opposed to our two persons in an open moving golf cart. It seems we're well in excess of the reasonably "required" standards for mitigation even without the individual cart use policy we now permit.

Thanks again.

Low end public course

Bacon Park has benefited from some improvements over the years, but it is still a low end public course.with dirt cart paths. It had recently rained heavily, when I played it and the course was a rutted quagmire. The club house dates from the late 60's and looks it. Don't bother to play this course unless you have nothing else to do.
