Sewailo Golf Club
Played On 01/05/2021A great value
A really good day at Sewailo. The pace of play was good, which can be a problem at this course, The greens were running true and in nice shape .
At this time of year, this course is a great value.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 11/14/2017Super layout--very hard with green complexes that are meant for professionals
Admittedly a hard course, but the pace of play was super slow again . Not the first time, either. No ranger the whole time, as seems to be normal now. No question that the customer service has declined substantially under new ownership from when the Accenture was held here.
Arizona National Golf Club
Played On 12/28/2014great layout, in good shape
The course is back in good condition. This complements the excellent layout. A tough back 9 with a number of desert carries.
Expect a slow round though and a mediocre practice facility--the only drawbacks of this course.
McGregor Links Country Club
Played On 8/02/2013Tough layout from back tees--the yardage is deceiving.
Alot of blind shots from the tees and fairways. The relatively short yardage on the card masks the true difficulty of the course. The par threes are hard. It's an old school layout and is not a links course as the name would connote.
The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 3/14/2013Good test of desert golf. Some very tough landing areas make the course play hard.
This course requires hitting into some very hard landing areas and has alot of elevation changes. It's a very good test of golf and the desert was kept intact. There are several carries required over desert areas that might be difficult for shorter hitters. Starr Pass is in good shape this year.
Golf Club at Vistoso
Played On 2/28/2013Good desert golf hitting to specific landing areas with tough par 3's.
Vistoso requires accuracy with desert all around specific landing areas on many holes. There are plenty of opportunities to lose golf balls with stray shots. The back nine is a great layout with 3 good par 5's and 3 tough par 3's. This course provides a nice change of pace and a good value for the money.
Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa
Played On 1/30/2013Old school Tucson golf, but still the design holds up well
This is a very traditional layout without a bunch of frills in the design. The greens are in good condition this winter. The 9th and 18th holes are still very tough tests of golf. With a good Golfnow rate, it's clearly worth the money.
Quintero Golf Club
Played On 1/22/2013A unique layout with large elevation changes that is unfortunately in poor condition this year
An interesting layout in a curious location in the rural hills. The temporary club house location far away from the 1st and 18th holes makes the course even more curious. This is a hard layout with tough par 3's, big elevation changes, and a large number of raised greens. Unfortunately, this winter the course apparently suffered from the freezing weather, as the greens are very poor and some of the fairways are thin. Too bad.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 1/16/2013Top notch, difficult track. If you get a good Golfnow rate, well worth the visit.
Outstanding course. Desert golf at its best. Very difficult layout with green complexes that are over the top.
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 1/10/2013Always friendly staff and excellent conditions. A great practice facility
The staff are great from the time you walk up to the pro shop to the time you are leaving in your car. The practice facilities are large and very well maintained. Having 2 good practice putting greens is also a plus. Both the mountain and canyon courses are well done and in great shape.
Highlands at Dove Mountain
Played On 1/8/2013The layout is a basic townhome lined course. A couple of awkward holes on the back, but not worth the effort compared to other courses in Tucson
Beware, outsiders need to know that there are 2 shot gun starts per day in the winter months--and there won't be advanced notice. Plus, in January there will be frost delays on most days, so both morning and afternoon times will be delayed.
There are no town houses in the development and the rest of the comments are far from accurate.
I'm glad you had a good time! We are working on pace of play. Hope to see you again soon!
