Bay Forest Golf Course
Played On 03/09/2024Good as usual
The course is in great shape as usual. Pace of play on the front nine was great but ran into a little bit of backup on the back nine. My only knock on this course is they make you share a cart with someone you get paired up with even though there are plenty of available carts.
Bay Forest Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2023Always good conditions
I’ve been playing here for 25yrs and the course is always in good shape. The pace of play always seems to be a little slow (4.5hr round). The greens are in great shape. They were a little slower this time maybe from the rain the night before. Overall good experience.
Indian Bayou Golf Club
Played On 05/15/2023Punched greens and fairways.
Arrived at the clubhouse to pay for my round that I booked through GolfNow and the guy working in the clubhouse told me the price was going to be $107 less for our twosomes because they had recently punched the fairways on the back nine., He said, “you probably won’t even notice”. We found out on hole 1 the greens had also been recently punched. They must have been punched a few weeks ago because they are not that bad, but they are still recovering. The maintenance crew however were working on the fairway on hole 10 while we were hitting our tee shots. The faiways on 10 & 11 didn’t appear to be punched but they were very soft and had some bare spots due to the recent maintenance. Hole 12 was being punched while were teeing off and it just so happens my tee shot landed in the middle of the fairway right in the punched area. I moved my ball he right of the punched area so we could continue playing the hole. Holes 13-18 were ok and didn’t appear to have had the fairways punched. I usually play here on my annual trip to Destin but would have chose another course if I had I known ahead of time. The course is usually one of the best in the area to play but not right now during their maintenance period.
BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
Played On 02/26/2023Packed, overpriced and overbooked
When I arrived there were no carts available. Once I got a cart and went to the range there were no open spots to hit from so there was more waiting. There were no Marshall’s on the course to govern pace of play. You could tell this course gets a heavy dose of play. The greens were inundated with ball marks that are not being fixed. The carts will stop on you and say 90* rule in effect even though I was observing the rule. There were several holes deemed as cart path only even though they were not wet. The whole experience made it for a frustrating day. I don’t have any plans of playing here again.
Bay Forest Golf Course
Played On 08/25/2018Great hot deal value
I’ve been playing here for years and it never seems to disappoint. Me and my buddy were paired up with a Father/Daughter group and it was one of the most enjoyable rounds I’ve played in years. Hole 4 which is par 5 is currently playing as a par 3 while they re-sod the fairway. The course is in excellent shape. Will continue to play here for many years to come.
Bay Forest Golf Course
Played On 03/18/2018Always a good place to play
I’ve been playing here for 20yrs and the course is always in good shape. My only knock is the pace of play. They usually have the whole course packed. I’d like to see the Marshall push some of the slower groups on some occasions so we could finish a round in under 4.5hrs. I plan on coming back many more times. A little far to drive to but at the golfnow hot deal rate it was worth it.
West Fork Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/18/2018Great place to play, pace was slow
I started playing this course on a regular basis two months ago and so far I haven’t been disappointed . I can’t wait to play this course when the rainy season is over and it dries out some. The greens are in really good shape as well as the bunkers . The only problem that we had in our round was the pace of play. Took us 4.5hrs to finish because a foursome jumped in front us on the 10th hole instead starting on the first hole. It is a bonus to get the golfnow hot deals to play this course but the regular price is a good deal as well.
Golf Club of Houston - Tournament Course
Played On 12/23/2017Great Hot Deal
Great Hot Deal at $50/player. The course was really wet from the rain the night before but besides that it was in excellent shape. The staff was friendly and the cart girl came by regularly. It did take 4hrs to play for a twosome which was a lot slower than I’d hoped for but with it being cart path only that was to be expected. With deals like this I’ll definitely be back to play again.
West Fork Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/16/2017Cold weather but a fun round
The weather for the day was not expected to get out of the low 50s so it was nice to start off by being picked up in the parking lot and shuttled to the clubhouse. I was greeted inside by the friendly staff who told me where everything was located. The starter was friendly, the pace of play was great (the weather might have had something to do with that) and even though it was cold out the cart girl came by on a regular basis. The greens were in great shape. Most of the bunkers had new white soft sand. I would have given 5 stars for the course condition but the fringe areas around all the greens were soaking wet with the exception of the front fringe on hole 16 which was mainly dirt. My understanding is the golf course is re-locating this green because its prone to flooding or at least according to some of the regulars I was paired up with. It had been 7yrs since I last played here but I plan on making this a part of my regular rotation. Overall experience was great. Thanks to West Fork & Staff.
Tour 18 Houston
Played On 10/27/2017Great golfnow hot deal
The course is phenomenal condition. The pace of play was great. My only complaint was we didn’t see a drink cart the whole round. The hot deal was well worth it. I will be back soon.
Bay Forest Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2017Golfnow hot deal
Got a great hot deal for $15. The course and the greens are in great shape. We were paired up with two other gentlemen that were pleasant to play with. The cart girl came around every few holes which was much needed because it was extremely hot outside. I have two complaints: the group in front of us were really slow and the maintenance crew were mowing the fairways on a number of holes that we played. I would recommend shutting the course down for a day to do the mowing of the fairways and rough, not while people are trying to tee off. I've played here for years and will be back.
Indian Bayou Golf Club
Played On 06/18/2017Best course in Destin
I travel to Destin on annual basis and have played all of the other premier courses in the area for years. Reviews about Indian Bayou being close to the airport persuaded me in the past to steer clear but man have I been missing out. The staff was very friendly. The cart girl came around every few holes. The Marshall allowed us to go off earlier than our scheduled tee time. The layout was challenging but fair. The greens & bunkering were phenomenal. There is GPS on the carts which is helpful at times. Stopped in for a few drinks at the clubhouse and the lady at the bar was very friendly and the drinks were priced lower than I'm accustomed to. It was the best golf outing I've had in years! Thanks Indian Bayou!
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 04/28/2017Good golf course, horrible pace of play
Gave it an overall rating of 2 stars for the horrible pace of play. The early Friday morning round took us 5.5hrs to play because of the slowsome in front of us. The marshall approached the slow group but it seems it was only to watch the female hit 3 balls into the water before he moved on. Made the turn near lunchtime and the snack bar had a sign in the window which read "out to lunch, be back in 30 mins". It is good thing that the cart girl came by frequently to offset the closed snack bar. The course is in really good shape and the greens are rolling true. Hopefully something can be done about the pace of play.
Eagle Pointe Golf Club
Played On 03/06/2016Worth the drive
Played here many times in the past and it is always in good shape. The greens were a little sandy but it didn't impact the putting. Fairways and tees in great shape. My only complaint is the pace of play. There seemed to be a few fivesomes in front of us which is surprising that the course would allow it. If you play here expect a good experience but a long round (5 to 5.5hrs).
Wedgewood Golf Course
Played On 08/10/2015Good greens, bad course conditions
This was my first time playing this course and I have to say it was not worth it. The two good things about my playing experience was the good greens and the free yardage book. Some parts of the fairways had burnt grass mixed with bare spots and other areas were riddled with crab grass and weeds. The course layout was very awkward and tight. There were maintenance workers on several of the holes and they didn't bother to stop working even while in close proximity to where we were playing. I have no intentions of returning to play this course.
The Golf Club at Bluewater Bay
Played On 06/26/2015Accuracy off the tee is a must
The course was empty (first tee time of the day) the day I played because of rain. Even though it was raining it was still 90 degree rule. I played the Lakes and the Bay course. There was plenty of water on the Lakes nine but none of it comes into play unless you are errant off the tee. The Bay nine was narrow off the tee. On #6 you need to hit a tee shot about 230yds down the left side of the fairway if you're on the right side you'll have a blind approach shot into a small green. I recommend that you play from the tips because the course is not very long. The greens rolled very true even though it was raining. I can't give an honest opinion about the bunkering since they were wet. All in a all it was a good fun course. I'd look for a discount on golfnow to play because I'm not sure it's worth the full price.

Played On 06/23/2015Great layout, slow play, bad spots on a few greens.
This was my first time to play here. The staff were very friendly, the cart girl made frequent visits which was great for the hot day. The course was not marked for yardages so it's a good thing I had my range finder with me. There were a few greens that had some bad spots but thankfully the pins were positioned away from these areas. The pace of play was slow (5hrs) due to no marshal being on the course. I really liked the challenging layout of the course. Accuracy off the tee is a must since water comes into place on 14 of 18 holes. Thanks to Golfnow I was able to play the course for $52. I would recommend playing only if you can play it for a reduced rate because it's not worth the full price.
Clear Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/07/2015A long drive to mediocrity
The fairways were in good shape but I can't say the same thing for the bunkers and greens. The bunkers looked to be washed out from all the recent rains. Most of them were eroded and full of rocks. The greens were riddled with brown patches that made putting difficult. There were good sections on each green however the pins were all located in the bad sections. I have played this course in the past when it was in much better shape. When it is in good shape it is well worth the long drive for $55.
Red Wolf Golf Resort
Played On 02/28/2015Cheap rate for average course
Got a deal on Golfnow for $10/person. The greens were fast and rolled true even though they were kinda wet from recent rains. The bunkers had good soft sand. The tee boxes were in really bad shape, most of them were not on level ground and were completely covered with sand. Most of the fairways are hard pan and did not have a lot of grass. All in all for the $10 I spent I can't complain. I would not pay the full rate to play here.
Thank you so much for playing Bluewater Bay Resort and some tips about the course. If you don't mind, we would love to hear more about why you gave us 3 stars. Please send us an e-mail at bluewaterbaygolfresort@yahoo.com.
