CAUTION WHEN BOOKING AT KEN MCDONALD GC: I wish I could leave a 'no star' rating because my experience here yesterday was AWFUL!! Now before I go on a rant I will let everyone know the course is in good shape and the value is certainly worth the money. Let me now tell you whats not worth the money...The time we waited/wasted and the lack of customer service received. We had a 1:16pm tee time and was told they were running 5-10 minutes behind. Not a problem as that is expected. What isn't expected when playing at a course is being packed in like sardines. These guys booked tee times every 6 minutes. EVERY 6 MINUTES?!?! That's insanity at it's finest. The guys ahead of us were a 1:10pm tee time and the guys behind us were a 1:22pm, so on and so forth. It was a minimum 10 minute wait at every single hole. I think we waited 23 minutes to tee off on the 9th hole. I know of at least 6 people that paid for 18 holes and were so upset and frustrated they left after 9 holes. Two of those people were in our group. We ended up teeing off at 1:33pm and didnt reach the 10th hole until 4:49pm. Oh, and we didn't see the cart girl until the 8th hole, about 2 and a half hours into our round. She was very pleasant by the way. Lets fast forward to hole 11, where our golf cart DIED. Dead, deceased, done for the round. I called the club house on my personal cell, told them what happened and they said they would send someone out right away. Me and my friend walked 3 holes and finally on hole 14, an hour later, someone showed up with a new cart in tow. We managed to finish our round just before the sun went down. I play a lot of golf and have never had an experience as bad as this one. I will never come back to this course due to the way they treat their customers which is a shame because the course was actually fun to play and in decent shape. I'm just not into playing a round that takes 6 hours to finish or having to walk when I paid to ride. I'm in decent shape and I don't mind walking, it's just the principal that someone told me they would be "Right there" with a new cart and it took them over an hour. I had a few hours on the afternoon I played so I booked a tee time @ Coronado and it cost me a whopping $9. For a $1/hole I have absolutely zero complaints about this course and I will in fact be back to play and recommending this course to friends for a nice and short chip n putt practice round. I recently got a new set of callaway clubs for christmas and I desperately needed to work on my irons. This course was PERFECT for that as most of the holes range from 110 - 175 yards (exec style course). There are a few "Par 4's" that you can use a driver or 3/5 wood if you like. No better feeling than driving the green on a "par 4" which I did on the 270 yard 9th hole! The only complaint I had was this is a CASH ONLY course and I didn't know that when I showed up. The gentleman behind the counter said I would have to go to the ATM at Albertons or circle K. I was really none to pleased with this but I guess I didnt have a choice. Upon my return the guy behind the counter could see I was upset for the inconvenience of having to get cash and he DEF turned a negative into a positive and offered to comp my cart rental. This guy and his wonderful customer service is the reason I will be returning to this course. I have been in the hotel industry for 9+ years and I will tell you, anyone can leave a customer in a bad mood but being able to read a guest and knowing how to turn the situation around is what makes the difference and he certainly did that for me. I call that "heroic hospitality." Overall, great job Coronado, I'll be back this weekend.

I hope everyone takes the time to read this review. I am a full time food blogger who reviews numerous places that I visit every single week so I love leaving reviews of my amazing experiences and this was certainly one of them. Some of the past reviews of this course are terrible and undermine how great this course truly is. When reading those reviews also take into account the time of year the people played. Summers is AZ are dry people. Get over it. You cant pay $15 and expect a lush green course in the middle of July when its 115 degree out. It doesnt work that way. You get what you pay for and for the $$ This course is AMAZING. My Experience - I had an 1150am tee time for two. We showed up at 11am to chip, putt and hit the range. Upon checking in, the gentleman behind the counter let us know that there was an 11:22am slot open if me and my friend wanted to go out instead of being paired up, we are more than welcome to do so. That was amazing in itself because we do like to play together as we play very competitively and dont normally like the idle chit chat of others. We got on the first tee at 11:22am and had an amazing round of golf. We were worried about the 4 some in front of us slowing us down but they kept their rate of play up and we finished our round in just over 3 hours. The fairways and roughs were green, the greens held the golf ball very well and were in great condition and over all I would give the course a 4.5 outta 5. They had a beautiful cart girl offering snacks and beverages which was a nice amenity. The only reason they dont get a 5 out of 5 is their cart paths. They dont extend all the way through the course and the paths that are there are pretty beat up in some places. Other than that this was a GREAT experience through and through (esp for a $17 hot deal on golfnow.com). Me and my friend will definitely be returning soon for another round.
