First Time at OCGC

We added our round at OCGC to our planned golf weekend and it was a great start. Not the longest of courses, can get away with not hitting driver on some holes. Course was very wet from storms over the previous week, so some holes were a little soupy. Fairways were also high, probably because of not taking mowers on them. Would give the course another play on a future trip.

Fun Layout, Great Condition

This course is about 15 minutes from downtown HBG, and every time I play here it's always in great shape. None of that annoying summer stuff... you know, bees in the bunkers, burnt out greens, bare fairways. We played on a Sunday and even saw course maintenance watering greens between groups. Impressive. Course isn't long (especially from the whites), but still features some forced carries over a small stream that wanders through both nines. Enough elevation changes to make you feel like the course is mixed up, and greens that were in fantastic shape. Course was as busy as I've ever seen it, and pace of play was slow because of that... but a lot of people at a golf course on a Sunday afternoon isn't a bad thing.

Standard Local Muni

Played here on a hot Sunday morning in July. Pace of play was fine, course was in decent shape considering the amount of rain it got the evening before. This track features lots of short par 4's (325-375) yards, and you better hit it straight off the tee. If the course staff would cut the branches off the bottom of the trees just a little, this course would be much better. Instead, you drive it ten yards off line and are sometimes lucky to even find your ball under pine trees that are grown to the ground with high grass and weeds beneath them. All in all, an average course that's generally in good shape year round and easy to get on any day of the week.

Wow. Play this course ASAP.

I had wanted to play Baywood since it opened in 2000 and it was worth the wait. This place is beautiful. From the putting green to the practice area and driving range all the way to the 18th green, sometimes it's hard to focus on the golf. The landscaping is incredible, and the course is even better. Five sets of tees for golfers of every level, rough that you can find your ball in, and greens that roll pure. I was paired up with two other golfers and we had a great round. Pace of play was great, and neither the heat or the bugs were an issue. If you're in the area and looking to play golf, don't mind the price... just play this course. Looking forward to going back this fall with some of my friends from Central PA.

Great course to use all your clubs at

Being the approximately 300th time I've played this course, it was a great way to get back to golf after not having picked up a club in two months. This course has a wide variety of holes; two through six are an interesting stretch of tough driving holes, a short/drop off par three, a double-dogleg par five and then a nice left to right par four. If your a left to right mover of the ball, this place is for you as many holes play along the Conestoga River. I played this in high school, play this now, and will play this in the future... and for just $20 you can't go wrong leaving work a few minutes early and hacking it around until dark.

Reopened and Beautiful

Played on a windy afternoon for the first time since the greens were back. Putts rolled smooth and true, and overall course conditions were amazing for the third week of March. Place is going to be a bear once the fescue grows in. Glad to see this course back to being one of the best in the area, public or private.

First of Many Rounds at DCC

This is a course I had wanted to play for a while and was able to sneak out of work to do so. Caught a Hot Deal to go along with a 70-degree October day and was extremely impressed. Classic layout with subtle elevation changes and tree-lines fairways. Not the longest of courses, but accuracy is key... bunkers are deep both around the greens and in the fairways. Water comes into play on a few holes on the back, which has three of each pars to make a fun stretch back to the clubhouse. Course was in great shape, and grounds crew were out working on some problem spots. Will definitely be going back here come next season.
