Golf Course Management

Lets start by saying I have been a member for almost a decade. I think the property and architecture of the old mansion is beautiful. GVCC probably has the best Golf course with regards to condition and layout that you can play within an hour of Fairfield. The greens, tee box and fairways are always in top shape rain or shine. I joined GVCC to have a place to meet people, bring clients, and introduce my young family to all the things that a country club would have to offer. The club has been going down hill in all the areas of food, beverage, entertainment, and options for young kids. The current management staff lacks skills in all areas that relate to food, beverage, and management skills. The Recent GM is doing his finest job at making the club experience very lack luster. Do not try to get breakfast before 8am, and if you do how about $8 oatmeal alacart. I just had breakfast at Ritz Carlton and the oatmeal was $6. I love paying for food and service, I probably eat out at least two meals a day. The club is trying to be something that it is not which makes me completely mind-boggeled. I now drive 5 miles out of my way to get breakfast at Starbucks before I play golf daily. If you want to eat dinner or appetizers after 5pm, you better go somewhere else. Its not an option for random reasons daily. Posted hours are at least 6 pm during the summer hours. The club has many great employees that serve you and do there best at making it feel like a family. Unfortunately there are a few sour apples that are ruining the club experience. I am highly considering moving my family to a new location. I WOULD NOT JOIN GVCC IF IT WAS FREE unless all you want to do is play golf.
