Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 07/02/2017A break from target golf.
It's nice to play a more traditional course, with trees and larger fairways. The course is wide and forgiving. The greens however have some undulation, and can present some challenges.
Mission Royale Golf Club
Played On 03/21/2017Hard as a rock
I have played this course many times. It is very inconsistently maintained. The course had dry spots everywhere and the greens were like concrete. The individual in the restaurant seemed annoyed that we asked for a cup of ice. I have player the course when it has been in good shape, but that was not this round.
Robson Ranch Golf Club
Played On 02/22/2017Best Course in the Casa Grande area.
I frequently play golf in or around Casa Grande because I have several friends that live in the area. Robson is by far the nicest course in the area. It is consistently in great shape. The staff is great and the pro shop merchandise is priced better then anywhere else I have played. The restaurant and snack bar have great food and service. The practice facility is well maintained and big enough for a large group to use all at the same time.
Mountain Brook Golf Club
Played On 02/12/2017Technical difficulties
I understand something happened and the greens were damaged. There was no mention of this at the pro shop during check in. The course was fine but the greens were basically painted dirt. Because there was no grass they were rather fast which made it more disturbing that several pins were put in areas that there was no way to stop the ball within 10 to 15 feet, it was like playing miniature golf. It is obvious that the greens staff has no clue and every group we talked to thought the greens and those pins were a joke.
Francisco Grande Resort & Golf Club
Played On 02/10/2017Great History
The course is challenging from any tee box, but over 7500 yards is something you can't do at many courses. The tree lined fairways are great when you're used to desert golf, and the price is very affordable. The greens however are inconsistent, some great, some hard as a rock and several dead spots, but they do role well. The practice facility has improved greatly. It is worth the price and has a great history.
Superstition Springs Golf Club
Played On 10/7/2013The course has some great holes and is a value for the money you pay to play it.
Course was freshly overseeded so it was cart path only and the greens were still a little shaggy but it that is to be expected this time of year. The fairways were great, the pace was excellent, much better then previous rounds there. Great golf holes at a very good price.
Apache Creek Golf Club
Played On 8/26/2013Shag carpet for greens
Played the course multiple times and usually not a bad place to play. This round you needed a driver to putt with. I would be ashamed to open on a weekend with greens in that condition. I have played aererated and sanded greens that were not as shaggy and bumpy. The rest of the course was fine. The person serving food looked irritated that we were using our lunch coupons and was less then friendly. The only reason I am not rating this worse is I have played here several times and it usually not this bad.
Las Colinas Golf Club
Played On 8/24/2013Enjoyable place to play golf.
People and course were enjoyable. Beverage cart person had a great attitude and the course was very playable.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 8/24/2013Two totally different nines.
Play the course half dozen times a year. Pace of play has gotten much better this year. Course has been in good shape except for the fringes around greens which seem to be an issue every year. Clubhouse staff are always great. Outside and on course staff could be friendlier. I live across the street from the course and play golf all over the east valley have been surprised by patrons playing other courses that say the staff at Johnson Ranch is rude and they won't play there. Maybe that's why the pace is better.
Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 12/31/2012Solid fun course
Even after a good rain the course was very playable. Greens were in great shape and rolling very true. Not overly fast but nice and smooth. Course is not to long but the water makes it a good challenge. Staff was friendly and helpful and the beverage cart made it around three times per nine which doesn't happen at most courses. All around good day.
Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course
Played On 12/21/2012Course was very wet.
Course was two wet making hitting irons from the fairways more difficult. There was mud on the ball after nearly every shot that landed in the fairway. The beverage cart only made it around twice in 18 holes and the second time we were already at hole 17, not the best service. Course was very well maintained and the greens were smooth and true. Pace of play was slow and the marshal did nothing to speed up the group in front of us and we could see no one in front of them at any time. I have played here several times and this was one of the worst experiences that I have had at the course.
