West at Woodlands Country Club
Played On 02/25/2017Needs management help...
Upon arrival, the course seemed pretty nice.. It had a nice clubhouse and helpful staff. We went to the first tee box and noticed there was no starter.. it was also difficult to find the first tee because there were no signs to direct us.
After teeing off... the pace of play was very difficult. We played 5 holes in 2 hours. If a ranger had been on the course he/she could have helped the pace. We had people hitting into us (I am sure out of frustration) and the course was jammed... several groups on the 6th tee box forced us to make the decision to leave the course and not finish our round.
When we left the course I called back to find out what the problem was.. why was the play SO slow. The clubhouse told me that they had an hour fog delay in the morning and that there was an outing that filled the course as well. They apologized for the delay but offered no explanation as to why there was not a ranger on the course or why the clubhouse did not let players know the course would be playing slow... It was apparent that the clubhouse was not aware of the
backups that made play literally intolerable.
I also valeted my car and found they had parked it in a field of dirt and grass? instead of the paved parking lot where all the other cars were. I am not sure why, but I was not pleased by that protocol as well.
In short, the course is OK, but unless it is better managed I would not recommend playing it.
