Friars/Presidio at Riverwalk Golf Club
Played On 03/26/2018Sanded greens fairways need some work
I have played Riverwalk several times and the course has some easier and harder holes. This time the greens were sanded, but putting was okay. There are several bald spots in the fairways that could use some work.
Like to play East Lake
Played East Lake again last Sunday. The course is a mix of easier and more challenging holes. Greens were in pretty good shape, fairways could stand some improvements. Pace of play on Sunday was really slow. It took our Threesome five hours to play 18 and no break whatsoever between nines.
Enjoyed East Lake
I enjoyed playing East Lake yet again. The course has a good mix of easier and more challenging holes. I managed to par the Par 3 13th hole, probably the highlight of my day. The greens were in good shape and fast. The fairways were in fair shape. I don't genaerally like playing courses surrounded by houses, but East Lake in an exception in that most houses are on hills or far enough away that they don't usually present a problem for an erran shot.
Palms Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2014Palms First time
The Palms Course is challenging, with some interesting picturesque holes especially on the back nine. Lots of elevated tees. It was crowded and slow. Heat is a factor, but towels and ice are provided for some relief. Cold water is available in numerous locations. Recommend going with someone who has played there before. I would go back again. Greens were in generally good condition, but slow.
Black Mountain Golf & Country Club - Founders/Desert Course
Played On 3/26/2013The Founders and Horizon nines have fair to good fair ways and greens. Most of the greens are small and elevated.
I played the Founders and Horizon nines in a threesome. The pace of play was a little slow with waiting on some holes. Fairways and greens were in fair to good shape, but if you hit off of the fairway, your ball would be more than likely in desert grit, (small gravel). I choose not to expose my clubs to hitting off of that surface. Most of the greens were small, elevated, and hard. We hit some shots to the middle of greens that did not hold. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would go back again, and liked the Horizon nine better than the Founders, but would like to see what challenges the Desert nine would present.
